Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Counting the Days to Armageddon is work is of vital importance for all concerned with the Jehovah's Witness movement. It provides a thorough examination of their eschatological development, treating Watch Tower theology objectively but sympathetically. Crompton also speculates about the future direction of Jehovah's Witness teaching. The book begins with a brief consideration of the biblical foundations of doctrines of the last days, particularly the books of Daniel and Revelation. There follows an outline summary of some of the main aspects of the history of this doctrine within the Protestant mainstream during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, and an outline of the Adventist teaching of William Miller (1782-1849) in the U.S.A. During the time following the failure of Miller's expectations of the end of the world, his ideas were developed by Charles Taze Russell (1852-1916), prime mover of the Watch Tower movement. Counting the Days to Armageddon explores the way in which Russell amended Miller's ideas, and also the distinctive way in which he handled the Dispensational categorisation of history of John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) to create an extension of historicist speculation on the application of prophecy to the modern world. The response of the Watch Tower movement to the failure of Russell's expectations in 1914 is explored, and the new body of doctrine which has replaced Russell's is examined. The ways in which these doctrines have been modified in the past suggest ways in which future doctrine may develop, especially in response to the protracted delay of Armageddon. What is envisaged, in the light of the history of Watch Tower doctrine, is no dramatic collapse of the movement but rather an increasing emphasis upon other, less vulnerable areas of doctrine together with a greater turnover of membership which may, in due course, undermine the movement's stability.

Book excerpt: Daniel prophesied the rise of global government in your future A number of prophets had a glimpse of the future, but God gave only one prophet a precise calendar of the end-times events that will affect the current generation. Writing more than 2,500 years ago, Daniel described a series of cataclysmic events and the signs that will precede the end times. According to prophecy expert Grant R. Jeffrey, many of the signs that Daniel pointed to are visible in our world today. Daniel’s vision reveals startling details about the identity of the coming Antichrist, his political career, his death, and his Satanic resurrection. After completing an exhaustive study of Daniel’s prophecies, Dr. Jeffrey presents a detailed description of the Antichrist’s rise as world dictator, the mark of the beast, and the political maneuvering that will set the stage for global government. In light of the Hebrew calendar and the cycle of Jewish festivals, Dr. Jeffrey uncovered precise dates for major apocalyptic events, including a timeline for the Antichrist’s rise to power, the major events of the Tribulation, and the timing of the Battle of Armageddon. God allowed Daniel to see the world we will soon live in as we approach the time for the return of the Messiah. Now learn exactly what Daniel knew.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's been just shy of seven years since the first wave of electromagnetic pulses bombarded the earth and began the turmoil. Most people couldn't cope, for they no longer had the skills their ancestors had. No one grew their own crops anymore. Few knew how to hunt and fish and trap small game. They lived off boxed food and canned goods. And they died in great numbers. Some, though, survived. They weren't tougher than the others, necessarily. They were better planners. They were the ones who were willing to learn new things. By the time the canned goods and boxed pasta were gone, the planners already had their grow spaces established and thriving. They were raising livestock instead of butchering it on the spot. And they were working hard to protect what they had from others who'd take it from them. The group of people in Scott Harter's south Texas compound was such a group. They suffered like everyone else. But they also persevered. This is the final chapter in their story. It takes place five years after we last saw them, and tells the tail of a recovering world. And a group of friends and family who've defied the odds and thrived.

If they are, what do they mean and when can we expect this to happen? In this eye-opening book, prophecy insider Robert Jeffress offers a reasoned look at these "signs" and what Jesus Christ himself meant when he talked about a future so horrendous that no human lives would be spared "unless those days were shortened" (Matthew 24.22). Did He have our time in mind? All over the world people are aware that something unprecedented in human history is about to happen. COUNTDOWN TO THE APOCALYPSE presents vital information that everyone, both inside and outside the church, needs to know to be prepared.

Book excerpt: Although a work of fiction, 1948 reveals how the countdown to the Biblically predicted end times battle of Armageddon can be traced back to 1948. The book takes the reader through much known evidence to make the case. He does this primarily through the interactions and travels of his five main characters who know each from Boston, yet spend time exploring Israel together. These characters represent varying perspectives of skeptic and believer, Jew and Christian. 1948 is interesting and entertaining, because it offers a plethora of ideas, questions and information for consideration. In 1948, the believer will find a general guide for following present and future world events, while the skeptic will find 1948 a source to help with clarification and understanding of the issues involved.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A WWII history told from US and Japanese perspectives—“an impressively researched chronicle of the months leading up to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima” (Publishers Weekly). During the closing months of World War II, two military giants locked in a death embrace of cultural differences and diplomatic intransigence. While developing history’s deadliest weapon and weighing an invasion that would have dwarfed D-Day, the US called for the “unconditional surrender” of Japan. The Japanese Empire responded with a last-ditch plan termed Ketsu-Go, which called for the suicidal resistance of every able-bodied man and woman in “The Decisive Battle” for the homeland. In 140 Days to Hiroshima, historian David Dean Barrett captures war-room drama on both sides of the conflict. Here are the secret strategy sessions, fierce debates, looming assassinations, and planned invasions that resulted in Armageddon on August 6, 1945. Barrett then examines the next nine chaotic days as the Japanese government struggled to respond to the reality of nuclear war.

Scott understood that big changes were coming, but he didn't know if he had two days to prepare, or two years. To protect his family, he threw every resource he had, plus some resources he didn't have, into preparing for the end.

The American housing market -- or, more sentimentally, the American dream -- began to collapse in 2006, taking with it large chunks of the global financial system. Millions of jobs worldwide have vanished forever. Did Bible prophecy predict this catastrophe? Are there biblical clues to how soon, if ever, a viable, long-term recovery can be sustained? Is the financial collapse just one of several signs that we are living in the final days of Earth's history In THE COMING ECONOMIC ARMAGEDDON, David Jeremiah says we can know the meaning behind what we see in the daily news -- and understand and prepare for living in the New Global Economy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A frightening but necessary assessment of the threat posed by nuclear weapons in the twenty-first century, edited by the world's leading antinuclear activist With the world's attention focused on climate change and terrorism, we are in danger of taking our eyes off the nuclear threat. But rising tensions between Russia and NATO, proxy wars erupting in Syria and Ukraine, a nuclear-armed Pakistan, and stockpiles of aging weapons unsecured around the globe make a nuclear attack or a terrorist attack on a nuclear facility arguably the biggest threat facing humanity. In Sleepwalking to Armageddon, pioneering antinuclear activist Helen Caldicott assembles the world's leading nuclear scientists and thought leaders to assess the political and scientific dimensions of the threat of nuclear war today. Chapters address the size and distribution of the current global nuclear arsenal, the history and politics of nuclear weapons, the culture of modern-day weapons labs, the militarization of space, and the dangers of combining artificial intelligence with nuclear weaponry, as well as a status report on enriched uranium and a shocking analysis of spending on nuclear weapons over the years. The book ends with a devastating description of what a nuclear attack on Manhattan would look like, followed by an overview of contemporary antinuclear activism. Both essential and terrifying, this book is sure to become the new bible of the antinuclear movement—to wake us from our complacency and urge us to action.
