Book Synopsis Agile Web Development with Rails 5.1 by : Sam Ruby
Download or read book Agile Web Development with Rails 5.1 written by Sam Ruby and published by Pragmatic Bookshelf. This book was released on 2017-11-06 with total page 668 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Learn Rails the way the Rails core team recommends it, along with the tens of thousands of developers who have used this broad, far-reaching tutorial and reference. If you're new to Rails, you'll get step-by-step guidance. If you're an experienced developer, get the comprehensive, insider information you need for the latest version of Ruby on Rails. The new edition of this award-winning classic is completely updated for Rails 5.1 and Ruby 2.4, with information on system testing, Webpack, and advanced JavaScript. Ruby on Rails helps you produce high-quality, beautiful-looking web applications quickly---you concentrate on creating the application, and Rails takes care of the details. Rails 5.1 brings many improvements, and this edition is updated to cover the new features and changes in best practices. We start with a step-by-step walkthrough of building a real application, and in-depth chapters look at the built-in Rails features. Follow along with an extended tutorial as you write a web-based store application. Eliminate tedious configuration and housekeeping; seamlessly incorporate Ajax and JavaScript; send emails and manage background jobs with ActiveJob; build real-time features using WebSockets and ActionCable. Test your applications as you write them using the built-in unit, integration, and system testing frameworks; internationalize your applications; and deploy your applications easily and securely. New in this edition is support for Webpack and advanced JavaScript, as well as Rails' new browser-based system testing. Rails 1.0 was released in December 2005. This book was there from the start, and didn't just evolve alongside Rails, it evolved with Rails. It has been developed in consultation with the Rails core team. In fact, Rails itself is tested against the code in this book. What You Need: All you need is a Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux machine to do development on. This book will take you through the steps to install Rails and its dependencies. If you aren't familiar with the Ruby programming language, this book contains a chapter that covers the basics necessary to understand the material in the book.

Book Synopsis Parallel and Concurrent Programming in Haskell by : Simon Marlow
Download or read book Parallel and Concurrent Programming in Haskell written by Simon Marlow and published by "O'Reilly Media, Inc.". This book was released on 2013-07-12 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you have a working knowledge of Haskell, this hands-on book shows you how to use the language’s many APIs and frameworks for writing both parallel and concurrent programs. You’ll learn how parallelism exploits multicore processors to speed up computation-heavy programs, and how concurrency enables you to write programs with threads for multiple interactions. Author Simon Marlow walks you through the process with lots of code examples that you can run, experiment with, and extend. Divided into separate sections on Parallel and Concurrent Haskell, this book also includes exercises to help you become familiar with the concepts presented: Express parallelism in Haskell with the Eval monad and Evaluation Strategies Parallelize ordinary Haskell code with the Par monad Build parallel array-based computations, using the Repa library Use the Accelerate library to run computations directly on the GPU Work with basic interfaces for writing concurrent code Build trees of threads for larger and more complex programs Learn how to build high-speed concurrent network servers Write distributed programs that run on multiple machines in a network

Book Synopsis Assessment of Planetary Protection Requirements for Mars Sample Return Missions by : National Research Council
Download or read book Assessment of Planetary Protection Requirements for Mars Sample Return Missions written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2009-06-06 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NASA maintains a planetary protection policy to avoid the forward biological contamination of other worlds by terrestrial organisms, and back biological contamination of Earth from the return of extraterrestrial materials by spaceflight missions. Forward-contamination issues related to Mars missions were addressed in a 2006 National Research Council (NRC) book, Preventing the Forward Contamination of Mars. However, it has been more than 10 years since back-contamination issues were last examined. Driven by a renewed interest in Mars sample return missions, this book reviews, updates, and replaces the planetary protection conclusions and recommendations contained in the NRC's 1997 report Mars Sample Return: Issues and Recommendations. The specific issues addressed in this book include the following: The potential for living entities to be included in samples returned from Mars; Scientific investigations that should be conducted to reduce uncertainty in the above assessment; The potential for large-scale effects on Earth's environment by any returned entity released to the environment; Criteria for intentional sample release, taking note of current and anticipated regulatory frameworks; and The status of technological measures that could be taken on a mission to prevent the inadvertent release of a returned sample into Earth's biosphere.

Download or read book Definition of Lateral-range and Lift-drag-ratio Requirements for Return to Both Optimum and Nonoptimum Recovery Sites written by Paul F. Holloway and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of return from near-earth circular orbits to both optimum and non-optimum recovery sites has been analyzed in detail in terms of lateral-range-angle and lift-drag-ratio requirements. A technique of analysis has been developed which permits the rapid determination of the variation of the lateral-range angle with time for a given set of mission constraints (recovery-site latitude and longitude and orbit inclination) through the application of a single equation. The lateral range is defined as the latitude of a given recovery site referred to the orbital plane of a spacecraft. Emphasis has been placed on land recovery; however, the results are equally applicable to water recovery.
