Book excerpt: A wax is a simple lipid that is formed by the esterification of a long-chain alcohol and a fatty acid. The alcohol might have anything from 12 to 32 carbon atoms. Waxes are found as coats on leaves and stems in nature. The wax helps to keep the plant from losing too much water. Waxes are utilized in a variety of applications around the world, including packaging, coatings, cosmetics, foods, adhesives, inks, castings, crayons, chewing gum, polishes, and candles. Waxing and polishing serve very distinct purposes in terms of process detailing. Waxing is a method of protecting the paint on the exterior of a vehicle. However, Polishing is what is done after a wax to ensure that the vehicle has that glossy shine. Wax does this by smoothing out the painted surface by filling swirls and scratches with a protective coating. The worldwide wax market is growing at a rate of 2.8 percent per year. Over the forecast period, rising demand for wax in various applications such as candles, packaging, rubber & plastic processing, cosmetics & toiletries, fire logs, adhesives, building boards, medicines, and home & automotive polishes is expected to drive market expansion. The market for furniture polish is growing at a rate of 5.0 percent per year. Furniture polish is in high demand due to rising need for harm-resistant business and residential settings, increased furniture exports, and increased furniture production. This will propel the global furniture polish market forward. Increased disposable income, as well as government investments in infrastructure development. The major contents of the book are Vegetable Waxes, Paraffin Wax Compounds, Synthetic Mineral Waxes, Other Mineral Waxes, Polish, Abrasives, Metal Cleaners, Polishes, Microcrystalline Waxes, Photographs of Machinery with Suppliers Contact Details and Plant Layout & Process Flow Chart. This book was released on 2011-10-02 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wax and polishes are used for many purposes. Wax has their principal use in waterproofing; they are mainly consumed industrially as components of complex formulations, often for coatings. Waxes confer matting effects and wear resistance to paints. Although most natural waxes are esters, paraffin waxes are hydrocarbons, mixtures of alkanes usually in a homologous series of chain lengths. These materials represent a significant fraction of petroleum. They are refined by vacuum distillation. The degree of branching has an important influence on the properties. Millions of tons of paraffin waxes are produced annually. They are used in adhesives, in foods (such as chewing gum and cheese wrapping), in cosmetics, and as coatings. Paraffin wax is typical of the agents that are coated on a film or sheet, one that really melt. Waxed paper, still the most widely used heat sealing material, was the earliest product to bring the advantages of heat sealing to packaging. Paraffin wax is mostly found as a white, odorless, tasteless, waxy solid, with an average melting point. The FT waxes are purely synthetic polymers of carbon monoxide and hydrogen which can be best be described chemically as mineral waxes. Duroxons of the B group also serve as additives in the manufacture of lubricating greases for the purpose of raising their dropping point and improving the consistency. There are various types of mineral waxes; lignite wax, montan wax, durmont wax, ozocerite wax, utah wax, peat wax etc. Utah waxes are successfully utilized in dance floor wax, linoleum wax, shoe polish etc. Some other important uses of waxes are in candles, polishes, electrical insulation, coatings and carbon paper. There are various types of polishes having industrial and domestic applications; abrasive polish, aluminium polish, motor car polishes, cellulose friction polishes, furniture polishes, leather belt polishes, pine oil metal polish etc. For many years, petroleum wax was considered a byproduct of lubricant base stock production, it has come onto its own over the last decade and is considered by most refiners to be a relatively high margin product and is often an important contributor to the overall profitability of the refinery. Pure paraffin wax is an excellent electrical insulator. There are many refineries in India which have with fuel, lube, wax and petrochemical feed stocks production facilities. Mineral waxes (including petroleum) account for an estimated 85% of this global demand, with synthetic waxes accounting for 10% and animal and vegetable waxes, accounting for 5%. Wax consumption is expected to grow at an average annual growth rate of 1% in this decade. Clearly, different regions and different product applications will enjoy different growth rates. This book basically deals with microcrystalline waxes in floor polishes, properties of braxilian grades of carnauba wax, compatibility of paraffin waxes with other substances, synthetic mineral waxes, miscellaneous synthetic waxes, additives for raising melting point of candles, wax coating for fruits, shribs, and plants, effect of paraffin on esparto montan mixtures, water proofing of kraft papers, production of montan wax, polish, abrasives, metal cleaners, nickel silver castings, cleaning, polishing metals for metallographic analysis, paste for wax calf leather, burnishing polishes for automobile maintenance, etc. The purpose of this book is to present comprehensive information of different types of wax and polishes like their processing, properties and uses. This book is very useful for new entrepreneurs, technocrats, professionals and researchers. This book was released on 2022-04-25 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solar energy is expanding worldwide and becoming an increasingly important part of the energy mix in many countries. Solar energy is used all over the world, but in terms of total installed solar capacity, India, China, Japan, and the United States are now top of the world. Solar panels can create power almost anywhere on the planet. However, some regions receive more sunshine than others and hence have a greater solar energy potential. It is based on insolation, which is a measurement of how much solar radiation reaches a specific area on the earth's surface. Solar energy can be captured in a variety of ways. Photovoltaic solar panels are the most frequent method. Photovoltaic (PV) devices use semiconductors to generate power directly from sunlight. Photons impact and ionize semiconductor material on the solar panel as the silicon photovoltaic solar cell absorbs solar energy, causing electrons to break free of their atomic bonds. A flow of electrical current is created when electrons are compelled to move in one direction. Only a portion of the light spectrum is absorbed, while the rest is reflected, too faint (infrared), or generates heat rather than electricity (ultraviolet). Concentrated solar power is the second type of solar energy technology (CSP). Solar thermal energy is used in CSP facilities to create steam, which is subsequently turned into electricity via a turbine. The global solar energy installed capacity is estimated to reach 1,645 gigawatts (GW), registering a CAGR is 13.78%. The growth of the solar energy market is driven by an increase in environmental pollution and the provision of government incentives & tax rebates to install solar panels. In addition, a decrease in water footprint associated with solar energy systems has fueled their demand in power generation sectors. The demand for solar cells has gained major traction owing to a surge in rooftop installations, followed by an increase in applications in the architectural sector. Furthermore, the demand for parabolic troughs and solar power towers in electricity generation is expected to boost the demand for concentrated solar power systems. Only the two commonly recognized kinds of technology for converting solar energy into electricity — photovoltaics (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP, also known as solar thermal) — are considered in their current and possible future forms in The Future of Solar Energy. Expanding the solar sector considerably from its current small size may result in developments that no one can predict right now. Solar deployment in the future will be highly influenced by uncertain future market conditions and public policies, including but not limited to measures aimed at mitigating global climate change. The book covers a wide range of topics connected to Solar, as well as their manufacturing processes. It also includes contact information for machinery suppliers, as well as images of equipment. A complete guide on Solar PV Power and Solar Products manufacture and entrepreneurship. This book serves as a one-stop-shop for everything you need to know about the Solar, which is ripe with opportunities for manufacturers, merchants, and entrepreneurs. This is the only book that covers Solar PV Power and Solar Products in depth. From concept through equipment procurement, it is a veritable feast of how-to information.

Book excerpt: In India, maize is becoming third most significant crop. Its significance stems from the fact that it is utilised not only for human food and animal feed, but also for corn starch manufacturing, corn oil production, and the generation of baby corns. Additionally, maize stover, the leaves and stalk of the maize plant, is used for forage, biofuel production, and chemical production. Corn is also processed into a multitude of food and industrial products including:- Ø Corn Starch is a yellow powder made from finely ground, dried corn, while cornstarch is a fine, white powder made from the starchy part of a corn kernel. Ø High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a sweetener derived from corn syrup, which is processed from corn. Ø Corn oil contains some healthy components like vitamin E and phytosterols, but overall it's not considered a healthy fat. Ø Corn ethanol is produced from corn biomass and is the main source of ethanol fuel, mandated to be blended with gasoline in the Renewable Fuel Standard. Ø Some strains of corn (Zea mays) are cultivated specifically as popping corns. Ø Dextrose Anhydrous can be used as sweetener in baked goods, candies, gums, dairy products like some ice-creams and frozen yogurts, canned foods, cured meats etc. Ø Maltose is a sugar that tastes less sweet than table sugar. It contains no fructose and is used as a substitute for high-fructose corn syrup. Ø Maltodextrin is a white powder made from corn. To make it, first the starches are cooked, and then acids or enzymes such as heat-stable bacterial alpha-amylase are added to break it down further. Ø Dextrose is the name of a simple sugar made from corn that's chemically identical to glucose, or blood sugar. Ø Sorbitol, or glucitol as it is sometimes called, is a slow-metabolizing sugar alcohol derived from fruits, corn and seaweed. The global maize market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.8%. The factors that affect the demand for starch mainly include population growth and industrial development of a country; specifically the food and beverage, textiles, paper and printing, pharmaceuticals and other health and beauty products, and adhesives. The demand for high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) sweeteners across the country is majorly due to its wide usage in the confectionery, bakery, and beverage industries, especially soft drink manufacturing. Rising health awareness among consumers has resulted into increasing preference for corn oil due to its health benefits. More ethanol production means more demand for corn. According to the most recent statistics released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 35%, or 5.25 billion bushels, of the projected 15.062 billion bushels of corn harvested will be processed into ethanol. The book covers a wide range of topics connected to Maize Products, as well as their manufacturing processes. It also includes contact information for machinery suppliers, as well as images of equipments. This book was released on 2022-02-02 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Agrochemicals are chemical agents that are applied to fields to boost the nutrient content of the soil or crops. Herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides are among them, as are synthetic fertilizers, hormones, and soil conditioners. They boost agricultural growth by eradicating pests that wreak havoc. They are used in horticulture, dairy farming, poultry farming, crop shifting, commercial planting, and other farming industries. A pesticide is any substance that is used to kill, repel, or control pests in plants or animals. Insecticides are chemicals that are used to keep insects under control by killing them or stopping them from engaging in undesired or damaging behaviour. Their structure and mode of action are used to classify them. Fungicides are pesticides that kill or prevent fungus and their spores from growing. They can be used to manage plant-damaging fungi such as rusts, mildews, and blights. They could also be used to keep moulds and mildew at bay in other places. Herbicides are chemicals that are used to control or manage unwanted vegetation. Herbicides are most commonly used in row-crop farming, where they are treated before or during planting to increase crop productivity while reducing other vegetation. The global agrochemicals market estimated size is CAGR of 3.4%. Increasing demand for food supply due to the rapid growth in the human population has triggered agricultural intensification. Agrochemicals are widely employed in agriculture to meet rising food demands, bridging the gap between food supply and consumption. Concurrently imbalanced use of agrochemicals, on the other hand, degrades the environment and poses serious threats to aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Chemical agents used in agricultural lands to increase nutrient shortage in the field or crop are known as agrochemicals. They also help to boost crop development by destroying hazardous insects. Agrochemicals increase the quantity and quality of agricultural goods. These are utilized in horticulture, dairy farming, cattle, grain farming, shifting cultivation, commercial plantation, and many other agricultural fields. Book excerpt: Solvents are defined as chemicals compound that are introduced during manufacture of the paint itself and before packaging, in order to maintain all components of the paint in a liquid / viscous state such as we know it. A solvent is usually a liquid but can also be a solid or a gas. Solvents find various applications in chemical, pharmaceutical, oil, and gas industries, including in chemical syntheses and purification processes. Thinners are defined as chemical compounds that are introduced into the paint prior to application, in order to modify the viscosity and other properties related to the rate of curing that may affect the functionality and aesthetics of the final layer painting.Paint thinner, a solvent used in painting and decorating, for thinning oil-based paint and cleaning brushes. A Thinner may be a single solvent or a combination of solvent types. Often, specific thinners are required by the manufacturer of a coating to prevent damage to coating properties that may occur when an inappropriate thinner is used. Solvents (for cleaning up or softening) and Thinners (for diluting or extending) are useful not only in painting but in other areas such as Wooden Furniture industry, Automobile industry, Ink industry, Rubber industry. As the paint industry is a major consumer of Thinners & Solvents, and is expanding at a tremendous speed, it is very obvious that the demand of thinners, too, will increase tremendously. The paints & coatings accounts for the largest share in the aliphatic hydrocarbon Thinners & Solvents market. It is also projected to be the fastest-growing application of the aliphatic hydrocarbon Thinners and Solvents market. The book contains Properties, Uses, manufacturing of Thinners & Solventsand providing information regarding thinner formulation. It also covers raw material suppliers, photographs of plant & Machinery with supplier’s contact details. Some of the fundamentals of the book are thinner in Paint Industry, Health and Safety Measures of Chemicals, Pollution Control, Waste Disposal of Hazardous Chemicals and Storage, Labelling and Packaging of Chemicals etc. It will be a standard reference book for professionals and entrepreneurs. Those who are interested in this field can find the complete information from manufacture to final uses of Solvents and Thinners. It will be very helpful to consultants, new entrepreneurs, technocrats, research scholars, libraries and existing units.

This book was released on 2016-10-01 with total page 624 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of paints, varnishes and enamels for decoration is nearly as old as human culture itself. These are widely used in homes as well as in industry because painted surfaces are attractive and easy to keep clean. Paint is generally made up of a pigment. It is a chemical material, which alters the color of reflected or transmitted light due to wavelength-selective absorption. Varnish is a transparent, hard, protective finish or film primarily used in wood finishing but also for other materials. Varnish is traditionally a combination of a drying oil, a resin, and a thinner or solvent. The technology of paints, varnishes and enamels is changing rapidly and becoming more complex each day. The paint industry is an important segment of the chemical industry. Enamel paint is paint that air dries to a hard, usually glossy, finish, used for coating surfaces that are outdoors or otherwise subject to wear or variations in temperature. The Indian paint industry has seen a gradual shift in the preferences of people from the traditional whitewash to higher quality paints like emulsions and enamel paints with improvement in lifestyle. India is the second largest consumer of paint in Asia. Over the past few years, the Indian paint market has substantially grown and caught the attention of many major players. The market for paints in India is expected to grow at 1.5 times to 2 times GDP growth rate in the coming years. In terms of volumes, pigments demand is expected to reach 4.4 million tonnes. Due to increased Government funding for infrastructure, demand for paints both in industrial and decorative segment is set to rise, thereby rendering Indian paint industry to be poised for further growth. This handbook is designed for use by everyone engaged in the paints, pigments, varnishes and enamels industry. It provides all the information of the various formulae and processes of paints, pigments, varnishes and enamels. The major content of the book are paint testing, color in paint, maintenance paints, emulsion paints, exterior or interior paints, exterior or interior multicolor paints, exterior swimming pool paints and enamels, interior ceiling paints, metal paints, marine paints, enamel paints, interior fire- retardant paints, interior gloss paints, paint formulation, manufacture of natural copal varnishes, floor paints and enamels, varnishes, lacquers and floor finishes, white pigments, colored pigments, pigment dispersion etc. The book contains addresses of plant & machinery suppliers with their Photographs. It will be a standard reference book for professionals, entrepreneurs, those studying and researching in this important area and others interested in the field of paints, pigments, varnishes and enamels technology. Book excerpt: A man entering an industry soon finds that most of the products manufactured by his company are not synthetic or definite chemical compounds, but are mixtures, blends or highly complex compounds of which he knows little or nothing. The literature in this field, if any, may be meager, scattered or antiquated. Formulation is a key process in the overall life cycle so that products are delivered that is of the right quality, at a competitive cost, and is made available within the specified time scale. A formula is an entity constructed using the symbols and formation rules of a given logical language. In science, a specific formula is a concise way of expressing information symbolically as in a mathematical or chemical formula. The chemical formula identifies each constituent element by its chemical symbol and indicates the number of atoms of each element found in each discrete molecule of that compound. If a molecule contains more than one atom of a particular element, this quantity is indicated using a subscript after the chemical symbol and also can be combined by more chemical elements. It is all in the formula, whose implications also remain undiscovered by modern economists. It plays a major role in every process whether it is manufacturing process or preservation. There is a big importance of formula in our life because formulas and equations deal with everyday things like shapes, investments, mixing things, movement, lighting, travel and a host of other things they provide information you can use in planning activities. This book basically deals with the extracting oil from cottonseed, silver nitrate test for cottonseed oil, solid linseed oil, decolorizing or bleaching linseed oil, linseed oil for varnish making, refining linseed oil, mineral oil, leather stuffing grease, leather adhesion grease, liquid belting lubricant, belt adhesion compounds, belt preserving grease, government harness dressing, rubber belt dressing (non static), wire drawing lubricant, wire drawing composition, metal drawing lubricant, cold drawing metal lubricant, drawing compound for aluminum, brass drawing lubricating emulsion, sheet steel drawing lubricant, non seizing threads and gaskets, machine tool lubricant, slushing oil for metal protection horse shoe grease etc. This book is an invaluable resource of the formulae of petroleum, lubricants, fats, polishes, glass, ceramics, nitrogenous fertilizers, emulsions, leather and insecticides. This book present several hundred advanced product formulations for household, industrial and other applications. The purpose of publishing this book is very useful for chemists, entrepreneurs, existing units, technocrats and engineering students.
