Download or read book Review of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management "Air Quality Modeling in the Gulf of Mexico Region" Study written by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2020-01-28 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Emissions associated with oil and gas exploration, development, and production on the Gulf waters can result in increased levels of air pollutants that contribute to a range of air quality impacts in the Gulf of Mexico Region (GOMR). "Criteria air pollutants", such as carbon monoxide, lead, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, particulate matter, and sulfur dioxide, are considered harmful to public health and the environment. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) manages the U.S. outer continental shelf oil and gas resources and is required to help manage air quality in the GOMR. Review of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management "Air Quality Modeling in the Gulf of Mexico Region" Study reviews and provides feedback on the BOEM's Air Quality Modeling in the Gulf of Mexico Region Study. This independent technical review of the study explores whether the study meets its goals, accurately reflects the scientific literature, uses reasonable data and modeling analyses, approaches quantitative modeling appropriately, documents findings in a consistent, transparent, and credible way, and aligns with necessary guidelines.

Download or read book Cold-air Performance of Compressor-drive Turbine of Department of Energy Upgraded Automobile Gas Turbine Engine. 1: Volute-manifold and Stator Performance written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aerodynamic performance of the inlet manifold and stator assembly of the compressor-drive turbine was experimentally determined with cold air as the working fluid. The investigation included measurements of mass flow and stator-exit fluid torque as well as radial surveys of total pressure and flow angle at the stator inlet and annulus surveys of total pressure and flow angle at the stator exit. The stator-exit aftermixed flow conditions and overall stator efficiency were obtained and compared with their design values and the experimental results from three other stators. In addition, an analysis was made to determine the constituent aerodynamic losses that made up the stator kinetic energy loss. (Author).
Book Synopsis Air Conditioning with Natural Energy by : Xianting Li
Download or read book Air Conditioning with Natural Energy written by Xianting Li and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2024-06-05 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Air Conditioning with Natural Energy is a comprehensive examination of the principles, theory, applications, and energy saving performance of newly developed technologies for air conditioning using natural energy. Based on the latest research and real-world case studies from North America, Europe, and China, the book provides an engineering perspective on the design and application of air conditioning from multiple climates. The book is divided into two parts. Part I examines the range of air conditioning technologies that use natural energy. This includes enhanced treatment technologies for outdoor air such as earth-to-air heat exchanger, fresh air pre-handling system using shallow geothermal energy, as well as newly developed technologies such as pipe-embedded wall, nocturnal cooling wall, and pipe-embedded window systems. With particular focus on applications in China, Part II provides real world case studies from multiple climatic zones, demonstrating the practical application and implementation of these technologies. Each case study analyses the carbon emission reduction potential, energy saving potential and the operational performance of the technologies. Air Conditioning with Natural Energy is an invaluable review of the latest developments in air conditioning technologies for practicing engineers, researchers, and students involved in the design and implementation of HVAC systems or working in the fields of thermal and mechanical engineering and the sustainable built environment. - Explains the theory and principles underpinning the latest and most important air conditioning technologies with natural energy - Provides a new decision-making index and revised degree hours to evaluate the energy saving potential of different air conditioning technologies with natural energy, helping readers identify the most suitable air conditioning technology for any climate zone - Analyzes the energy saving potential of different technologies from real projects in different climate zones and calculates the contribution of carbon emission reduction that can be achieved globally

Book Synopsis Energy Transfers in Atmosphere and Ocean by : Carsten Eden
Download or read book Energy Transfers in Atmosphere and Ocean written by Carsten Eden and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-01-23 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes a recent effort combining interdisciplinary expertise within the Collaborative Research Centre “Energy transfers in atmosphere and ocean” (TRR-181), which was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Energy transfers between the three dynamical regimes – small-scale turbulence, internal gravity waves and geostrophically balanced motion – are fundamental to the energy cycle of both the atmosphere and the ocean. Nonetheless, they remain poorly understood and quantified, and have yet to be adequately represented in today’s climate models. Since interactions between the dynamical regimes ultimately link the smallest scales to the largest ones through a range of complex processes, understanding these interactions is essential to constructing atmosphere and ocean models and to predicting the future climate. To this end, TRR 181 combines expertise in applied mathematics, meteorology, and physical oceanography. This book provides an overview of representative specific topics addressed by TRR 181, ranging from - a review of a coherent hierarchy of models using consistent scaling and approximations, and revealing the underlying Hamiltonian structure - a systematic derivation and implementation of stochastic and backscatter parameterisations - an exploration of the dissipation of large-scale mean or eddying balanced flow and ocean eddy parameterisations; and - a study on gravity wave breaking and mixing, the interaction of waves with the mean flow and stratification, wave-wave interactions and gravity wave parameterisations to topics of a more numerical nature such as the spurious mixing and dissipation of advection schemes, and direct numerical simulations of surface waves at the air-sea interface. In TRR 181, the process-oriented topics presented here are complemented by an operationally oriented synthesis focusing on two climate models currently being developed in Germany. In this way, the goal of TRR 181 is to help reduce the biases in and increase the accuracy of atmosphere and ocean models, and ultimately to improve climate models and climate predictions.
