Book Synopsis Catechism of the Orthodox Cathar Church by : Sebastian C Garreau
Download or read book Catechism of the Orthodox Cathar Church written by Sebastian C Garreau and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2019-05 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Catechism of the Orthodox Cathar Church serves as the first guide to the revival of Catharism in the modern world. Catharism, an ancient and Mediaeval Gnostic and Christian movement, thrived in Europe from the 12th to the 14th Centuries of the Common Era. It was heavily persecuted beginning in 1209 with the Albigensian Crusade. By the close of the 14th Century, no Cathars were left. Recently, a growing interest in Cathars and Catharism worldwide has lead to the need for the true Cathar faith to be born again. That is the purpose of this Catechism and the organization it serves, the Orthodox Cathar Church. It fulfils the prophecy spoken in 14th Century Occitania: 'In 700 years, the laurel shall be green again.' This prophecy is being fulfilled in our time. Modern Cathar Perfectus S.C.G. has been selected to carry out this most humbling and beautiful task: to fertilize and water the laurel so that it may grow again with new intensity and love. Catharism has long been destined to return, and the Orthodox Cathar Church is the spiritual framework that has been needed for so long. The Catechism spells out, for all who are called, how to start local groups dedicated to true Catharism. It is a guide for those who heed the call of the prophecy and recognize the Cathar spirit in themselves.

Book excerpt: LeRoy Ladurie analyzes the behavior, demography, social mentality, and cosmology of the community of peasants and shepherds, and vividly evokes the daily life of the village and mountain pastures. His portrait of Montaillou is dominated by the personal histories of two men: the cur Pierre Clergue, a brutal and powerful man who placed his enemies in the hands of the inquisitor; and the shepherd Pierre Maury, a friend of the Albigensian perfecti and a fatalist who returned from Spain to disappear in the inquisitor's prison in his own country. Montaillou, which has received even more praise than LeRoy Ladurie's earlier work, provides a portrait of a fascinating place with a dark, intriguing history.

This book was released on 2023-09-01 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For nearly two millennia, despite repeated prohibitions, Christian women have preached. Some have preached in official settings; others have found alternative routes for expression. Prophecy, teaching, writing, and song have all filled a broad definition of preaching. This anthology, with essays by an international group of scholars from several disciplines, investigates the diverse voices of Christian women who claimed the authority to preach and prophesy. The contributors examine the centuries of arguments, grounded in Pauline injunctions, against women's public speech and the different ways women from the early years of the church through the twentieth century have nonetheless exercised religious leadership in their communities. Some of them based their authority solely on divine inspiration; others were authorized by independent-minded communities; a few were even recognized by the church hierarchy. With its lively accounts of women preachers and prophets in the Christian tradition, this exceptionally well-documented collection will interest scholars and general readers alike.

Download or read book Cathars written by Sean Martin and published by Oldacastle Books. This book was released on 2012-02-03 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Catharism was the most successful heresy of the Middle Ages. Flourishing principally in the Languedoc and Italy, the Cathars taught that the world is evil and must be transcended through a simple life of prayer, work, fasting, and non-violence. They believed themselves to be the heirs of the true heritage of Christianity going back to apostolic times, and completely rejected the Catholic Church and all its trappings, regarding it as the Church of Satan. Cathar services and ceremonies, by contrast, were held in fields, barns, and in people's homes. Finding support from the nobility in the fractious political situation in southern France, the Cathars also found widespread popularity among peasants and artisans. And, unlike the Church, the Cathars respected women; they played a major role in the movement. Alarmed at the success of Catharism, the Church founded the Inquisition and launched the Albigensian Crusade to exterminate the heresy. While previous Crusades had been directed against Muslims in the Middle East, the Albigensian Crusade was the first Crusade to be directed against fellow Christians, and was also the first European genocide. With the fall of the Cathar fortress of Montségur in 1244, Catharism was largely obliterated, although the faith survived into the early fourteenth century. Today, the mystique surrounding the Cathars is as strong as ever, and Sean Martin recounts their story and the myths associated with them in this lively and gripping book.

This book was released on 2019-07-22 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Perfecti "Elect," (Christian Pacifist) and the French Knights Templar (Warrior Protector) This is a fascinating historic research story and "church perpetuity" analysis of a centuries old intellectual spiritual rebellion through many centuries of devastating persecution, against incredible odds -- all the while full of bravery and loyalty unto Christ Jesus. Proceeded with ties to the Jewish "Order of the Nazarene" brethren, this is the history of Christianity since the time of Christ - being of the original "Holy Church of God" established at Pentecost (AD 33). Then after going through centuries of devastating persecution and scenarios of horrific slaughter, both sects was forced to go underground for safety until emerging 1,000 years later, joining forces with the Knights Templar. This is the true Christian church sect that re-emerged from the "Holy Church of God" through an apostolic succession "church perpetuity" being the Cathar Brethren Christian Church prior to the said Radical Reformation movement of free churches in Europe. What followed through "church perpetuity" was the Anabaptist church sect followed by the Hutterites, Mennonite, Amish and the more recent Restoration Movement "" Church of Christ. These listed church sects in Europe were as well horrifically persecuted and became those puritans along with remnants of Knights Templar that immigrated to the Americas. Later next came the more recent Restoration Movement being the Church of Christ. In a prophesy being given by Saint Augustus, he said during the "End of Days" the "Holy Church of God" will re-emerge as the "Elect" saints when Christ Jesus returns in his glory! Analysis presented is of the greatest minds, brilliant intellects, inventors, writers, scientist, Christ apostles, saints, evangelist, martyrs, warrior protectors, and artist in history such as King David, Apostle Paul, Saint Augustine, Friar Roger Bacon, Cathar Christian Puritan John of Lugio, Sir Isaac Newton, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Dr. Albert Einstein, Dr. Ivan Panin, etc. - and most of all - through all this discourse is that of Christ Jesus. You will never be able to read your Bible the same again!
