Our aim is to provide readers with the highest quality reproductions of fiction and non-fiction literature that has stood the test of time. The many thousands of books in our collection have been sourced from libraries and private collections around the world. The titles that Trieste Publishing has chosen to be part of the collection have been scanned to simulate the original. Our readers see the books the same way that their first readers did decades or a hundred or more years ago. It is highly unlikely that this would occur with one of our books. Our extensive quality control ensures that the readers of Trieste Publishing's books will be delighted with their purchase. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This process ensures that the reader of one of Trieste Publishing's titles receives a volume that faithfully reproduces the original, and to the maximum degree possible, gives them the experience of owning the original work.We pride ourselves on not only creating a pathway to an extensive reservoir of books of the finest quality, but also providing value to every one of our readers. Generally, Trieste books are purchased singly - on demand, however they may also be purchased in bulk. Book excerpt: The Boy Scouts to the Rescue by George Durston There were three figures lying in the bottom of the great shell crater that yawned close to the German line. It had been made by a French shell, so a great mound of dirt had been cast up on the side next the enemy. One of the bodies in the close group lay in the stiff, distorted attitude in which a sudden and horrible death had frozen him. The second lay quite limp, unseeing, uncaring--the attitude of a man desperately hurt. Only the third, rather small and slender, lay curled up much as a vigilant cat might, trying to give the impression of sleep or death, but with every faculty and nerve like live wires. His eyes were open, and with every ounce of force in him he was listening, plotting and planning. We are delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive Classic Library collection. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. The aim of our publishing program is to facilitate rapid access to this vast reservoir of literature, and our view is that this is a significant literary work, which deserves to be brought back into print after many decades. The contents of the vast majority of titles in the Classic Library have been scanned from the original works. To ensure a high quality product, each title has been meticulously hand curated by our staff. Our philosophy has been guided by a desire to provide the reader with a book that is as close as possible to ownership of the original work. We hope that you will enjoy this wonderful classic work, and that for you it becomes an enriching experience.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Boy Scouts: On Lost Trail Those who have read The Boy Scouts of Woodcraft Camp, the first book in this series, will need no introduction to most of the char actera of the present volume. Four of them are members of Dr. Merriam's famous vaca tion school in the deep woods, a camp con ducted under Boy Scout law, but with tribes instead of patrols, each tribe having as chief a Scout of the first class. Three of them were principal characters in the second volume, The Boy Scouts on Swift River. On that trip they made practical use of the things they had learned at Woodcraft Camp, and their experiences further fitted them for the severer tests, such as are necessarily entailed by an overland trip through the wilderness, such a trip as in this volume they take in their search for Lost Trail. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Boy Scouts of Woodcraft Camp In this and succeeding volumes, The Boy Scouts on Swift River, The Boy Scouts on Lost Trail, The Boy Scouts in a Trapper's Camp, I have sought to portray the life of such a school camp under Boy Scout rules. The Boy Scouts of Woodcraft Camp has been written with a twofold purpose: To stimulate on the part of every one of my boy readers a desire to master for himself the mysteries of nature's great out-of-doors, the secrets of field and wood and stream, and to show by example what the Boy Scout's oath means in the development of character. Many of the incidents in the succeeding pages are drawn from my own experiences. And if, because of reading this story, one more boy is led to the Shrine of the Hemlock, there to ih hale the pungent incense from a camp-fire and to master the art of tossing a flapjack, I shall feel that I have not written in vain. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Boy Scouts of Berkshire The story, you will find if you read it, leaves the Chipmunks at a point where they are strong, pre pared, and Old enough to tackle bigger things. The smiling Peanut, always cheerful, always ready for fun or for trouble, can hardly be expected to stay cooped up in the village of Southmead all his life! We have no idea where he'll go, but it is certain that he, and some of his fellow scouts, will go somewhere pretty soon, to see strange countries and tackle new adventures. And it is equally certain that Peanut will expect us to write a book about it. The last time we saw him, he had almost decided to save up his earnings and go with Mr. Rogers to the great Dismal Swamp Of Virginia, and was urging the Wildcat and others to go along, too. Anyhow. Phillip's is, too, and so is our garden; but I am not telling about those now. Beyond the barns are apple orchards, reaching halfway up the hill, as you know, if you have read about the doings of the Band. When they built Blackinton's barn they cut into the hill, so that the roof of the stable slopes clear down to the ground, on the hill side in the orchard. It makes a fine place for us boys to sit and talk about things. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Boy Scouts Book of Stories Something over a year ago the Electric Railway Journal began the publication of its monthly "Mechanical and Engineering Numbers." The purpose of these has been to furnish articles of a character particularly helpful to the men who are responsible for the upkeep of the physical equipment of an electric railway property. Overhead line construction, tracks, buildings, power plants, substations, shops and rolling stock and its equipment have all been kept in mind. Arrangements were made with several specialists in different parts of the electric railway field for series of articles covering the fundamentals of track, power transmission, car equipment, car bodies and power plant operation; these were in addition to numerous articles on details of practice in the several lines mentioned. While all of the series are not yet complete, they have proved to date so valuable and comprehensive that the publishers of the paper have decided to reprint a number of the articles in the several series, particularly for the benefit of those who have not had the opportunity to read them month by month. Space limitations have prevented the reprinting of the entire groups of articles but a careful selection has been made of those which seem to have greatest immediate practical value. Readers of this volume are referred to the original series in each of the fields if further details are desired. The authors of the articles reprinted are all qualified by practical experience and theoretical study to furnish the kind of material desired by the workers in the "practical" departments of the electric railways. For want of a better word the term "practical" is used to designate those who have to do with physical equipment. Mr. Cram is in daily contact with the way and structure problems of the Brooklyn Rapid Transit System and had a wide experience before joining the staff of the B. R. T. Mr. Harte, construction engineer of the Connecticut Company, has particularly to do with new work on a large railway system, being especially interested in power transmission problems.
