To complicate matters, his unrequited love interest, Berry Barton, is back on his radar, Gubu police station politics are as partisan as ever and Sgt Ncube, in an attempt to equal the brilliance of his boss, has discovered the wonders of the Oxford English Dictionary, to hilarious results. With winter tightening its grip, and drought and hardship threatening the population, Sibanda uses a risky strategy to trap his nemesis. Can he pull it off? Praise for C. M. Elliott: 'Her plot keeps readers guessing right to the end, when the monster meets a truly satisfying fate . . . Elliott has created a lively cast of characters and an intricate, clever plot' Margaret von Klemperer, The Witness 'A thrilling detective yarn and a finely-drawn picture of the counterpoint between the gentle music of the bush and the harsher notes of poachers' deadly gunfire' The Citizen

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Samuel J. Waddell (1878-1967), who took on the stage-name Rutherford Mayne when he embarked on a theatrical career, was the most prolific, versatile, and successful playwright that the Irish Literary Revival in Ulster brought forth. In the course of his career as a dramatist, from 1906 to 1934, he wrote thirteen plays -- ten plays for the Ulster Literary Theatre, one for the Dublin-based Theatre of Ireland, and two for the Abbey Theatre. Especially his early realist Ulster peasant plays were very successful, among them The Drone (1908), the most popular Irish folk comedy of the first half of the twentieth century. He also acted a great number of main parts in plays of his own and of other writers, to great acclaim, mainly in Belfast and Dublin but also on tours to England and Scotland, from 1904 until late in his life. His plays disappeared from the stage in the 1950s, and, when he died, his artistic achievements were almost forgotten. Wolfgang Zach's introduction to this volume is the first attempt to give a lengthy survey of Mayne's life and works, with particular emphasis on a discussion of all his plays, their critical reception, stage history, and specific features. As to the selection of Rutherford Mayne's plays contained in this volume, seven of his eight published plays -- his most important ones -- have been included in this edition. Two important prose pieces (one of Mayne's essays and an interview), have been added to his reprinted plays as they provide direct insight into his personality, views, and career. In the biographical and critical section of the Checklist appended to this book, publications have also been included that do not solely concentrate on RutherfordMayne but are of great significance to any student of his life and plays.

Book excerpt: Provides readers with a solid foundation in Arm assembly internals and reverse-engineering fundamentals as the basis for analyzing and securing billions of Arm devices Finding and mitigating security vulnerabilities in Arm devices is the next critical internet security frontier—Arm processors are already in use by more than 90% of all mobile devices, billions of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and a growing number of current laptops from companies including Microsoft, Lenovo, and Apple. Written by a leading expert on Arm security, Blue Fox: Arm Assembly Internals and Reverse Engineering introduces readers to modern Armv8-A instruction sets and the process of reverse-engineering Arm binaries for security research and defensive purposes. Divided into two sections, the book first provides an overview of the ELF file format and OS internals, followed by Arm architecture fundamentals, and a deep-dive into the A32 and A64 instruction sets. Section Two delves into the process of reverse-engineering itself: setting up an Arm environment, an introduction to static and dynamic analysis tools, and the process of extracting and emulating firmware for analysis. The last chapter provides the reader a glimpse into macOS malware analysis of binaries compiled for the Arm-based M1 SoC. Throughout the book, the reader is given an extensive understanding of Arm instructions and control-flow patterns essential for reverse engineering software compiled for the Arm architecture. Providing an in-depth introduction into reverse-engineering for engineers and security researchers alike, this book: Offers an introduction to the Arm architecture, covering both AArch32 and AArch64 instruction set states, as well as ELF file format internals Presents in-depth information on Arm assembly internals for reverse engineers analyzing malware and auditing software for security vulnerabilities, as well as for developers seeking detailed knowledge of the Arm assembly language Covers the A32/T32 and A64 instruction sets supported by the Armv8-A architecture with a detailed overview of the most common instructions and control flow patterns Introduces known reverse engineering tools used for static and dynamic binary analysis Describes the process of disassembling and debugging Arm binaries on Linux, and using common disassembly and debugging tools Blue Fox: Arm Assembly Internals and Reverse Engineering is a vital resource for security researchers and reverse engineers who analyze software applications for Arm-based devices at the assembly level.
