Book excerpt: The Betrayal, Death, Resurrection and Ascension is beautifully written here in the form of poetry. Taken from the gospels; the main events that surrounded these happenings. Although these stories have been told time and time again, they are here written with a difference. The stories flow with a rhythm as they are being told, making it such a delight for anyone to read. This is an opportunity one can use to introduce or be introduced to the Bible. Illustrated and clearly written, a simple yet great book to use for Story Telling or the Sunday School class.

Book excerpt: The haiku poems of this book tell the narrative of the Last Supper, passion, death, resurrection, ascension, and Great Commission of the Gospels, evoking the essence of these momentous events. The distilled style of emotions embedded in the poems may awaken the reader to transcend time and space and experience these events through eyes they have never known. How can we even begin to understand the doctrines of Christianity derived from the Last Supper, passion, death, resurrection, ascension, and Great Commission of the Gospels without singing, and singing fully, with the knowing and unknowing that resides within our hearts, minds, and souls? You will hear the songs of Jesus, Judas, Mary, Thomas, the archangels, Satan, and a seeker of the divine mystery. It is hoped that you will join this choir of past, present, and future, and sing as you have never been.

Book excerpt: What do you think about when someone mentions Easter? The Easter Bunny and brightly colored eggs? Wonderful sales on clothing? Special deals in your favorite restaurant? The first Easter two thousand years ago was not celebrated by hordes of people as if it were just another holiday. On this day, Jesus of Nazareth found his disciples frightened and tearful. The followers of Jesus Christ were recovering from the sadness that they had felt at the horrific manner in which Jesus had been beaten, humiliated, and crucified. Jesus' disciples were afraid for their own lives, having seen their Lord crucified on the cross like a common criminal who deserved the death penalty. The enemies of Christ were jubilant because they thought that they had wiped out the Jesus movement, the nascent Christianity that had emerged in the land. Shouts of "Crucify Him! Crucify Him" still rang in the ears of many. Who would have thought that the first Easter would become so central in the history of the world? Some Christians have willingly given up their lives to celebrate the first Easter. In this collection of poems, H. C. Kim focuses on the immediate events leading up to the first Easter and ponders the resurrection message.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My Testimony of Jesus Christ I bear witness of Jesus Christ. My testimony of him has increased over time. Before my conversion to his church, (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). My testimony was limited. The Bible has always been a great source of strength and knowledge for me. However, my understanding of his life, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection became more clear after reading from the book of Mormon (another witness of Jesus Christ). The book of Mormon is scripture that was written by ancient prophets who lived with their people on the other side of the world--in the western hemisphere. The Bible teaches us of the life and mission of Jesus Christ and of his birth, life, death, and resurrection. It tells us of his ascension to his father in heaven. The book of Mormon is a second witness of the savior Jesus Christ. It tells of his ministry to his children and confirms everything the Bible teaches. This does not distract from the witness of the Bible but stands as an additional second witness and knowledge of his life and mission on earth. A mission that includes all people on the earth. Latter-day revelation, given by the Prophet Joseph Smith, the prophet of the restoration of the gospel, in our day, has enriched my testimony of the savior. I testify that Jesus is the Christ. The only begotten son of the father in the flesh. He is my Lord and Savior. He is the Lord and Savior of all mankind. I love him. I bear this my witness in the Holy name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Behold the Lamb . . . Poetically! is a compilation of free verse, rhymes, and haiku that explores many diverse aspects of the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus. The poems have been written over a span of thirty years. They have been inspired by Scripture as well as personal experiences like pilgrimages, setting up the crèche, baking Christmas cookies, and solemnly reflecting upon the crucifixion on Good Friday afternoon. Many of the old familiar stories presented in this way will touch you afresh. Certain poems will lift your spirit and generate deep reflection or worship; others will re-kindle memories of observances from childhood. There are poems in this book that you will bookmark to re-read from time to time and some you’ll want to share with family and friends. You might bring a favorite or two to a church meeting or copy one and tuck it into the envelope with a Christmas or Easter card. Most of all, these poems are intended to draw the reader into desiring a deeper relationship with Our Savior, Jesus, the Holy Lamb of God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “In the darkness of the night, the nightingale sings with wondrous splendor, A beckoning songbird calling the world to feel peaceful surrender. The nightingale’s beauty lives in the essence of his melodic voice, Leaving listeners disarmed by its power, making sweetness their choice.” From the poem, Splendor in the Night’s Light, D. Ferris Arfaa arouses our awareness that life’s true meaning and effect emanates from our inner beauty, not outward appearance! Furthermore, we are left with the personal choice of whether to receive and surrender to the power of redemption and salvation through Jesus Christ. This book contains poems that reflect on the lives of Jesus and His original Twelve Apostles. The poems carry us from their callings by Jesus into apostleship and, finally, martyrdom. They are intended to spark a personal revival in each of us to answer God’s calling no matter our personal limitations. From the First Nightingale to the Last emphasizes that, like Jesus and His Apostles, we all share a common nature, but we can move beyond our personal shortcomings to a powerful purpose in service to others. The reader cannot fail to be motivated to a new level of living through the power of faith and a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Book excerpt: St. Paul speaks of the apostles and prophets as being the “foundation of the household of God,” and of Jesus as the “chief cornerstone” of that household. He also speaks of a “mystery which has been hidden . . . but now has been revealed to his saints.” According to Jesus himself, the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms all foreshadowed him. After Jesus’ ascension, St. Peter declared that “all the prophets . . . have also foretold these days.” Where has this great mystery been hidden, and revealed? Is the Old Testament actually about Jesus? And how does the New Testament show us that the Scripture has been fulfilled in him? Through poems that insightfully connect biblical characters and events to each other, Foundations of the Cross and Other Bible Stories further opens the reader’s mind to the unity of the Bible, all of which proclaims Jesus Christ.
