Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Series of Monographs in Analytical Chemistry, Volume 47: Analytical Chemistry of Molybdenum and Tungsten describes the chemical and instrumental methods of analysis of molybdenum and tungsten. This book is composed of 15 chapters that particularly consider detailed methods for determining these metals in typical samples and their alloys by both classical and modern techniques. The opening chapters discuss the history, occurrence, physico-chemical properties, and applications of molybdenum and tungsten. The succeeding chapters deal with the metals’ sampling, decomposition, separation, and qualitative detection. Considerable chapters are devoted to various chemical and instrumental methods for their analysis, including gravimetry, titrimetry, colorimetry, polarography, amperometry, coulometry, emission and atomic absorption spectroscopy, X-ray spectrophotometry, mass spectrometry, and radiochemical methods. The concluding chapter examines the determination of impurities and alloying elements. This book will prove useful to analytical and inorganic chemists, as well as analytical and inorganic chemistry students.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A compilation is presented of original test data on emittance, reflectance, and adsorptance of Cr, Nb, Mo, Ta, and W. The data were taken from the literature published during the period 1940-1959 inclusive, and as much of the 1960 literature as could be obtained. The following sources were searched: Chemical Abstracts, Ceramic Abstracts, Metallurgical Abstracts, Nuclear Science Abstracts, and the files of the Defense Metals Information Center (DMIC). An attempt was made to evaluate these sources of data according to the apparent thoroughness of methods and techniques as described by the various investigators. In many cases the descriptions in the literature are a summary of methods and results, and a complete evaluation is impossible. Curves are presented which appear to indicate the most probable values for the various conditions and materials. (Author).

Book Synopsis Analytical Applications of EDTA and Related Compounds by : R. Přibil
Download or read book Analytical Applications of EDTA and Related Compounds written by R. Přibil and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analytical Applications of EDTA and Related Compounds examines the analytical applications of ethylenediaminetetra-acetic acid (EDTA) and related compounds. This book also considers the “passive role of these substances, that is, their screening (masking) properties, which greatly improve the selectivity of the reactions in common use. This text consists of six chapters organized into two sections. The first part deals with the uses of EDTA and its derivatives in some fields of chemical analysis. After providing an overview of the history behind the development of EDTA as an analytical reagent, this book discusses to the nature of equilibria of complexes and the methods used in their investigation. The next chapter is dedicated to the reactions of “classical gravimetric analysis, including the precipitation reactions by means of organic reagents. The chapter on colorimetry includes a section on “colored complexing agents, which can be used also in colorimetric determinations of some elements. This text concludes by evaluating the use of EDTA as a masking agent in colorimetry. This book will be of interest to students and practitioners working in analytical chemistry and related disciplines, including polarography, chromatography, electrophoresis, flame photometry, and qualitative analysis.
