Book excerpt: Upon the death of her grandmother, Amaré realizes she is alone. Orphaned as a small child, she now begins to experience shocking memories that emerge and force her to relive the horror of a mysterious and forgotten past. She embarks on a journey of love and discovery as she begins to uncover the mysteries that have paralyzed and distorted her existence. Between London, the English countryside, Paris, and California, Amaré is committed to uncovering the truth behind her pain. She will be confronted with the wizardry of modern technology as well as ancient mysticism and teachings, both helping her wind her way through the dark and somber labyrinth of her unconscious. The story is about repressed trauma, and the courage to face one's demons. It explores the relationship between the mind and the body, and centers on the journey of the soul towards truth and light. It is a testimony to individual redemption through self-forgiveness.

Book excerpt: The formation of the Hellhounds was the greatest bane to the Golden Ones, its creation drenched in bloodshed and war. What began as a group of friends who strove for a brighter tomorrow would lead to its ruination. Their neon city, Dithyramb, that once boasted a life of prosperity would collapse under the dreams it created. The price of hope was none other than death. Saveas, Amare, Qolani, Olan, and Galtai were childhood friends. They once ran around the city, lost in all that the world gave them. In the face of everything, they used to be inseparable as their lives unfolded. Never once did the thought cross their minds that they would stand at the forefront of war. The nature of the city showed its true colors. From the dark clutches of the Solar's shadow, a voice called to them. From its whispers came the notion of change. All it took was a single spark. An uprising that would change their world forever.

This book was released on 2023-01-27 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most studies of agricultural transformation document the impact of agricultural income growth on macroeconomic indicators of development. Much less is known about the micro-scale changes within the farming sector that signal a transformation precipitated by agricultural income growth. This study provides a comparative analysis of the patterns of micro-level changes that occur among small-holder farmers in Uganda and Malawi in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), and Thailand and Vietnam in Southeast Asia (SEA). Our analysis provides several important insights on agricultural transformation in these two regions. First, agricultural income in all examined countries is vulnerable to changes in precipitation and temperature, an effect that is nonlinear and asymmetric. SSA countries are more vulnerable to these weather changes. Second, exogenous increases in agricultural income in previous years improve non-farm income and trigger a change in labor allocation within the rural sector in SEA. However, this is opposite in SSA where the increase in agricultural income reduces non-farm income, indicating a substitution effect between farm and non-farm sectors. These findings reveal clear agricultural transformation driven by agricultural income in SEA, but no similar evidence in SSA.
