Physiographic, socio-economic and political forces have each played an important rolein agricultural land use changes. Since 1976, however, thesituation has been showing signs of slow recovery. A case studyidentifies specifically the areas experiencing changes inagricultural land use and the areas where reforestation is takingplace. Results of the study showed that the majority ofabandoned farmland was unused in 1981. Finally, developmentalternatives are outlined.
