Book Synopsis Immunology of Psoriatic Disease by : Eva Reali
Download or read book Immunology of Psoriatic Disease written by Eva Reali and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2019-07-31 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Psoriasis is a chronically relapsing inflammatory skin disorder affecting about 2% of the worldwide population. The disease is associated with important systemic manifestations, including cardiovascular comorbidities and metabolic syndrome. In addition, about 30% of patients develop joint inflammation known as psoriatic arthritis (PsA). Our knowledge on the pathogenesis of psoriasis has dramatically expanded in the last decade, suggesting the existence (or co-existence) of both auto-immune and auto-inflammatory components. Skin lesions develop from a complex interplay between keratinocytes, vascular endothelium, dendritic cells, and T cells, generating a self-sustaining inflammatory cycle. Within this cycle, epidermal CD8+ T lymphocytes specific for self-antigens may represent the major autoimmune mechanism. Despite the recent progress in the comprehension of the pathogenesis of psoriasis many questions remain open, ranging from the plaque-initiating events to the characterization of the autoimmune /autoinflammatory components of the disease. The mechanisms that link cutaneous psoriasis to its extra-cutaneous and systemic manifestations also remain vague. In this Research Topic we invited top scientists to summarize the front-line research in the field of immunology of cutaneous psoriasis and its systemic and joint manifestations. Our intention was to integrate the pillar concepts of psoriasis immunopathology with the most novel insights, aiming at providing an advanced view of this rapidly evolving and fascinating field.

Book Synopsis The Rāmāyaṇa of Vālmīki: An Epic of Ancient India, Volume VII by :

This book was released on 2018-09-11 with total page 1544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concluding volume of a critical English edition of the monumental Indian epic The seventh and final book of the monumental Rāmāyaṇa of Vālmīki, the Uttarakāṇḍa, brings the epic saga to a close with an account of the dramatic events of King Rāma’s millennia-long reign. It opens with a colorful history of the demonic race of the rākṣasas and the violent career of Rāma’s villainous foe Rāvaṇa, and later recounts Rāma’s grateful discharge of his allies in the great war at Lankā as well as his romantic reunion with his wife Sītā. But dark clouds gather as Rāma makes the agonizing decision to banish his beloved wife, now pregnant. As Rāma continues as king, marvelous tales and events unfurl, illustrating the benefits of righteous rule and the perils that await monarchs who fail to address the needs of their subjects. The Uttarakāṇḍa has long served as a point of social and religious controversy largely for its accounts of the banishment of Sītā, as well as of Rāma’s killing of a low-caste ascetic. This seventh volume in the critical edition and translation of the Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa includes an extensive introduction and describes the complex reception history of the Uttarakāṇḍa, as well as exhaustive notes and a comprehensive bibliography.

Book Synopsis Joaquín Rodrigo by : Walter Aaron Clark
Download or read book Joaquín Rodrigo written by Walter Aaron Clark and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-05-30 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Joaquín Rodrigo: A Research and Information Guide catalogues and summarizes the musical works and related literature of Joaquín Rodrigo (1901–99), perhaps the most important Spanish composer of concert music in the second half of the twentieth century. The guide provides annotated bibliographic entries for both primary and secondary sources, detailing several guitar concertos, concertos for flute, violin, harp, cello, and piano, as well as symphonic pieces, piano solos, chamber music, and choral and stage works. Rodrigo’s reputation rests on the Concierto de Aranjuez for guitar and orchestra and its expressive middle movement, which inspired jazz arrangements by Miles Davis and Chick Corea in the 1960s and continues to appear in film scores even eighty years after its composition. A major reference tool for all those interested in the prolific Rodrigo and his music—featuring a chronology of the composer’s life and robust indices that enable researchers to easily locate sources by author, composition, or subject—Joaquín Rodrigo: A Research and Information Guide is a valuable resource for students and researchers alike.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sanātana Gosvāmin’s Haribhaktivilāsa (ca. 1540) describes the normative ritual life of a Vaiṣṇava devotee. As it is one of the first Sanskrit texts of Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava tradition begun by Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya (1486–1533) it presents a fascinating meeting between this ecstatic new religious movement and older, Brahminical tradition. On the basis of eleven manuscripts, this important text has now been for the first time been critically edited. In his extensive introduction, Måns Broo engages with many of the questions that have vexed earlier scholars of this text (such as who really was the author?) by exploring its extensive intertextualities.
