Gunnery Sergeant Sam Hoch travels to the Pac Norwest upon receiving word his mentor and the closest thing to a father he's had, has taken a turn for the worse and is in the hospital. Once there he meets a woman who is unlike any he's ever met before. A former Marine herself, she opens up her home to him so he can be near his family. Roxi Mammon isn't positive it's smart to allow Sam to stay with her, not with her immediate physical reaction to him. She's heard tales of him from her best friend, his sister, and now having met him she is even more impressed by the man the Corps has turned him into—a silent, strong type. Passion grows between them and soon she finds herself falling for the Recon Marine. And falling hard. As things escalate between them, Sam has to accept his past doesn't control him if he plans on keeping Roxi in his future. Can he understand that this is the one woman who can give him something more? Will he silence the fear within him and tell Roxi she's the one for him? Will he realise that he deserves more than just a temporary home?

Download or read book The Yiddish Stage as a Temporary Home written by Diego Rotman and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2021-03-08 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Yiddish Theater Stage as a Temporary Home takes us through the fascinating life and career of the most important comic duo in Yiddish Theater, Shimen Dzigan and Isroel Shumacher. Spanning over the course of half a century – from the beginning of their work at the Ararat avant-garde Yiddish theater in Łodz, Poland to their Warsaw theatre – they produced bold, groundbreaking political satire. The book further discusses their wanderings through the Soviet Union during the Second World War and their attempt to revive Jewish culture in Poland after the Holocaust. It finally describes their time in Israel, first as guest performers and later as permanent residents. Despite the restrictions on Yiddish actors in Israel, the duo insisted on performing in their language and succeeded in translating the new Israeli reality into unique and timely satire. In the 1950s, they voiced a unique – among the Hebrew stages – political and cultural critique. Dzigan continued to perform on his own and with other Israeli artists until his death in 1980.

Book Synopsis Characteristics of Temporary Migration in European-Asian Transnational Social Spaces by : Pirkko Pitkänen
Download or read book Characteristics of Temporary Migration in European-Asian Transnational Social Spaces written by Pirkko Pitkänen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-10-05 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the experiences of temporary movements between Asia and Europe from the perspective of migrants and mobile people. It raises important questions such as: Why do people migrate on a temporary basis and what does this actually mean? How are these trajectories shaped? What are the implications of temporary moves for migrants and non-migrants? And how are transnational ties and practices characterized in the context of temporary migration? By shedding light on the practices and experiences of individual migrants, the book provides useful insights into understanding the challenges arising in an increasingly interconnected and mobile world. The chapters indicate that temporary migratory movements are on the rise: on the one hand on a voluntary basis such as reflected in labour migration, lifestyle migration and international student mobility, and on the other hand in an involuntary way as expressed in different forms of forced migration. Either way, temporary migration has diverse political. legal, economic, social and cultural implications, including the emergence of novel transnational networks and practices. The book is based on the findings of the international research project Transnational Migration in Transition: Transformative Characteristics of Temporary Mobility of People (EURA-NET), funded by the European Union’s 7th Framework Programme for period 2014-2017.
