Book excerpt: This eBook edition of "Telepathy (Theory, Facts & Proof)" has been formatted to the highest digital standards and adjusted for readability on all devices. Extract: "Many persons who are interested in the phenomena of Telepathy, and who accept the proofs offered by its advocates, seem to regard these phenomena as quite ordinary and as fully in accord with the more familiar manifestations of Nature's forces. We frequently hear Telepathy compared to the manifestation of electricity, particularly in the phase of wireless telegraphy. But the matter is not so simple as this—it cannot be lightly dismissed or placed in any ordinary category. It is, scientifically, sui generis—in a class by itself; unique; peculiar. While we shall not attempt to put forward any special hypothesis at this point, we invite you to consider the following statement from the lips of an eminent English statesman, himself an earnest investigator of Telepathy. After reading his statement, you will begin to appreciate the full nature of the problem confronting those who, while admitting the proofs of Telepathy, would seek to account for the same by scientific principles." William Walker Atkinson (1862-1932) was a prolific writer. His works treat themes related to the mental world, occultism, divination, psychic reality, and mankind's nature. They constitute a basis for what Atkinson called "New Psychology" or "New Thought".

Book excerpt: Mysticism and the paranormal have long been associated in two ways: in the repeated reports of mystically trained individuals acquiring paranormal abilities and in the warnings given in all serious mystical training schools that students who become interested in these abilities will cease to make progress. This essay, chapter 24 of Psychic Exploration, discusses those associations. Book excerpt: Is there a 'special connection' between twins? Can they read each other's minds? Are they telepathic? These questions are often asked, but have never been convincingly answered until now. The author became interested in the subject when he was given vivid first-hand testimony of how a man whose twin brother had been shot dead had reacted several miles away at the exact time. This prompted him to embark on a thorough search of the literature and collect accounts of similar examples of apparent telepathy, some dating back to the 18th century, to question numerous twins regarding their own experiences, to compile a substantial file of case histories, and eventually to help set up properly controlled scientific experiments in which telepathy could be seen to take place on a polygraph chart, two of which have now been published in peer-reviewed journals. As he makes clear in this ground-breaking book, the first ever to explore the 'special twin connection' in detail, the answer is simple: some twins are telepathy-prone and some, probably the majority, are not. How can this be, you might wonder? Aren't all identical twins supposed to be identical in all respects? They are not. The fact is that, as Orwell might have put it, some twins are more identical than others. What seems to make the difference is exactly when division of the fertilized zygote (egg) takes place. This can take place almost immediately, or up to twelve days later. Without going into detail here, what this means is that 'late splitters' develop extremely close bonds after birth, bonds that can last a lifetime, whereas 'early splitters' become more independent, and regard their twins just like an ordinary brother or sister. Sure enough, when experiments were carried out in London and Copenhagen, on each occasion it was a late-splitting pair who showed the clearest evidence for telepathy on their polygraph charts. The often heard critical complaint that here is no repeatable experiment for any kind of psychic effect is no longer true. This new revised and updated edition contains the most comprehensive survey yet written on the history of research into twin telepathy. The author explains why experiments have generally been unsuccessful in the past, and why those that he helped design have been consistently successful, and point the way ahead for future researchers. He also explains that a better understanding of the special twin connection is of more than academic interest, especially to parents, some of whom already know that it can save lives and has already done so. Earlier editions of this book were well received by such authorities as psychologist Stanley Krippner, a former president of the Parapsychological Association, for whom it 'reads like an intriguing detective story', and Rupert Sheldrake, who has contributed a Foreword in which he states: 'For many years I have been looking in vain for authoritative research on this intriguing subject. At last I have found it, in this book'. Colin Wilson, in his Introduction predicts that the book 'will obviously become a classic of psychical research.'

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Telepathy, Genuine And Fraudulent" is a non-fiction book written by William Wortley Baggally, a British psychic researcher and investigator. First published in 1917, the book delves into the phenomenon of telepathy, exploring both authentic instances of telepathic communication and the fraudulent practices often associated with it. Baggally approaches the subject of telepathy with a scientific mindset, seeking to distinguish between genuine cases of telepathic communication and those that can be attributed to trickery or deception. Drawing upon his own research and investigations, as well as accounts from other psychic researchers, Baggally presents a comprehensive examination of telepathy and its various manifestations. The book covers a wide range of topics related to telepathy, including experimental studies, case histories, and theories proposed to explain the phenomenon. Baggally explores the evidence for telepathy in both human and animal subjects, as well as the role of mediums and psychics in purportedly facilitating telepathic communication. One of the central themes of "Telepathy, Genuine And Fraudulent" is the challenge of distinguishing between authentic telepathic experiences and those that are the result of conscious or unconscious deception. Baggally discusses various methods used to test for telepathy, such as card-guessing experiments and sender-receiver trials, and evaluates the reliability of the results obtained from these tests. Throughout the book, Baggally maintains a critical and objective stance, acknowledging the limitations of telepathy research while also recognizing its potential significance for our understanding of human consciousness and the nature of communication. He provides readers with a balanced and informative overview of the scientific inquiry into telepathy, encouraging skepticism while remaining open to the possibility of genuine telepathic phenomena. "Telepathy, Genuine And Fraudulent" is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the study of psychic phenomena and the exploration of consciousness. Baggally's rigorous approach to the subject and his meticulous analysis of the evidence make the book a seminal work in the field of parapsychology.

Book excerpt: "Telepathy and the Subliminal Self" by R. Osgood Mason is an intriguing exploration into the realm of psychic phenomena and the depths of the human mind. Published in the late 19th century, Mason's work delves into the mysterious realms of telepathy, clairvoyance, and the subconscious, offering readers a fascinating glimpse into the potential of the human psyche. In this groundbreaking book, Mason presents a comprehensive overview of telepathy, the purported ability to communicate thoughts and emotions directly from one mind to another without the use of conventional means. Drawing upon scientific research, anecdotal evidence, and personal experiences, he examines the phenomenon of telepathy from a variety of angles, seeking to unravel its mysteries and understand its implications for human consciousness. One of the central themes of the book is the concept of the "subliminal self," the vast reservoir of thoughts, memories, and emotions that lie beneath the surface of conscious awareness. Mason explores the role of the subconscious mind in telepathic communication, suggesting that it may serve as a conduit for the transmission of psychic impressions between individuals. Throughout the book, Mason presents a wealth of case studies, experiments, and observations to support his arguments. He discusses the work of prominent researchers in the field of psychic phenomena and examines the evidence for telepathy from both scientific and anecdotal perspectives. But "Telepathy and the Subliminal Self" is more than just a catalog of psychic experiences; it is a philosophical inquiry into the nature of consciousness and the boundaries of human perception. Mason invites readers to consider the possibility that telepathy may represent a glimpse into a higher plane of existence, one where the barriers between minds dissolve and the interconnectedness of all things becomes apparent. Whether you're a skeptic, a believer, or simply curious about the mysteries of the mind, "Telepathy and the Subliminal Self" offers a thought-provoking journey into the depths of human consciousness. Join R. Osgood Mason on an exploration of telepathy, psychic phenomena, and the hidden realms of the subconscious, and discover the limitless potential of the human mind.

Book excerpt: The book on the paranormal, endorsed by consciousness experts as the best introduction to psychic phenomena, offering the latest scientific research as well as highly compelling anecdotes. Winner of the Parapsychological Association Book Award and the Nautilus Silver Award "Superb survey of the paranormal ... I cannot recommend it highly enough." - New York Times bestselling author Herbie Brennan This is the most entertaining and broad survey of the paranormal ever made, combining forgotten lore, evidence from parapsychological experiments and the testament of scientists, archaeologists, anthropologists, psychologists, physicists and philosophers, and also quite a few celebrities. Exploring the possibility that paranormal phenomena may be - and that some most likely are - objectively real, this travelogue through the twilight zone of human consciousness is both scientifically rigorous and extremely entertaining. Readers may be surprised to learn that reputable scientists, among them several Nobel laureates, have claimed that telepathy is a reality, that Cleopatra's lost palace and Richard III's burial place were recovered by means of clairvoyance, and that an espionage program using psychics was set up by the US military! The author proposes that all humans (perhaps all living beings) are linked together in a sort of "mental internet" that allows us to exchange "telepathic emails" and make clairvoyant downloads of information. Could it be that what we usually call "supernatural" is a natural but little understood communication via this mental internet? An engaging, entertaining and informative analysis of a controversial subject, in which these phenomena are approached as potential expressions of unexplained powers of the human mind.

Book excerpt: In the book, "More than Meets the Eye; A Journey into the Mysteries of Psychic Phenomena," I invite the reader to join me in a fascinating trip to the field known as "parapsychology." Parapsychology, or "psi" phenomena, are psychic events which do not lend themselves to regular explanation based on evidence provided by the senses; they are said to be "extrasensory." These phenomena are: telepathy, clairvoyance, psychokinesis, and precognition. Our communication is based ordinarily on hearing or reading the other's words, but in telepathic communication we are said to know the other's thoughts directly, without the mediation of the senses. In clairvoyance, known also as "remote viewing," we are said to "see" remote places without using the eyes. In psychokinesis we are said to be able to bend, push, or break objects without touching them, and in precognition we have direct glimpses of the future. Are telepathy, clairvoyance and other kinds of psychic phenomena real, or are they figments of an overly active imagination? And what about phenomena such as out-of-body experiences, apparitions of dead people, and reincarnation? Are such phenomena real? On the basis of my own experience, of the experiences of people I had interviewed, and of information I had gleaned from books by credible authors, I reach certain interesting conclusions which I share with the reader.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from Seeing the Invisible: Practical Studies in Psychometry, Thought Transference, Telepathy, and Allied Phenomena Psychic Science has made great progress during the last fifty years, but the facts with which it has had to deal are as old as mankind; but that does not make the work the less valuable. Facts - albeit Psychological and Psychical - denied fifty years ago, or deemed only worthy the attention of the superstitious or the ignorant, have, after all, been found to be facts, and as the result of investigations of men and women who were equal, if not superior, to their contemporaries in the highest walks of Science, Philosophy, Theology, Literature and Art, not only at home, but abroad also. These investigations go to prove, not merely that man has a soul - using the term in the popular sense - and may live in some obscure way in after-death states, but that he is a Soul here and now.
