Book Synopsis Energy Efficiency Program Impact Evaluation Guide by : U. S. Department Of Energy
Download or read book Energy Efficiency Program Impact Evaluation Guide written by U. S. Department Of Energy and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-01-31 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Energy Efficiency Program Impact Evaluation Guide describes the common terminology, structures, and approaches used for determining (evaluating) energy and demand savings as well as avoided emissions and other non-energy benefits resulting from facility (non-transportation) energy efficiency programs that are implemented by local governments, states, utilities, private companies, and nonprofits. While this guide does not recommend specific approaches, it provides context, planning guidance, and discussion of issues that determine the most appropriate evaluation objectives and best practices approaches for different efficiency portfolios. By using standard evaluation terminology and structures and best practices approaches, evaluations can support the adoption, continuation, and expansion of effective efficiency actions. The primary audiences for this guide are energy regulators; public and private energy efficiency portfolio administrators such as utilities, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies; program implementers; and evaluators looking for guidance on the following: - The evaluation process and approaches for determining program impacts - Planning evaluation efforts - Key issues associated with establishing evaluation frameworks for improving the efficacy of energy efficiency portfolios, documenting the impacts of such portfolios, and comparing demand- and supply-side resources. Introductory portions and appendices are also intended for policymakers seeking general information about efficiency program impact evaluation as well as the basic principles of process and market evaluations and cost-effectiveness analyses. Although the guide is not directly intended for expert evaluation practitioners who can rely on more detailed and specific resources that are referred to in this guide, it offers introductions to and summaries of evaluation topics that can be useful for explaining concepts and standard practices to clients, new staff, stakeholders, and others who could benefit from a refresher on principles

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study considers how energy efficiency and other factors (such as economic structure, income, lifestyle, prices, and fuel mix) have shaped developments of energy use and carbon dioxide emissions in IEA countries, since the organisation was founded 30 years ago. Findings include that the rate of energy savings in IEA economies has slowed since 1990, as has the decline in carbon dioxide emissions relative to GDP. This shows that the changes caused by the oil price shocks in the 1970s and the resulting energy policies did considerably more to control growth in energy demand and reduce carbon dioxide emissions than the energy efficiency and climate policies implemented in the 1990s.

Book Synopsis A Brighter Future for Maldives Powered by Renewables by : Asian Development Bank
Download or read book A Brighter Future for Maldives Powered by Renewables written by Asian Development Bank and published by Asian Development Bank. This book was released on 2020-11-01 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maldives has no proven fossil fuel reserves, but it has abundant renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and ocean (tidal, wave, and ocean thermal), and has the potential to produce green hydrogen fuel using renewable energy. The coronavirus pandemic has impaired Maldives’ economy, severely affecting its tourism industry, which is one the country’s main economic drivers. The country’s recovery will largely depend on the rapid transformation and diversification of its economic activities. Renewable energy offers a promising alternative to fossil fuels as the country embarks on a transformation challenge. This Road Map serves as a guide for Maldives’ energy transition—from being powered by costly and polluting fossil fuels to being powered by affordable and efficient renewable and cleaner energy sources.

Book Synopsis Head Start Impact by : Michael J. Puma
Download or read book Head Start Impact written by Michael J. Puma and published by Nova Novinka. This book was released on 2006 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since its beginning in 1965 as a part of the War on Poverty, Head Start's goal has been to boost the school readiness of low-income children. Based on a 'whole child' model, the program provides comprehensive services that include pre-school education; medical, dental, and mental health care; nutrition services; and efforts to help parents foster their child's development. Head Start services are designed to be responsive to each child's and family's ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage. The Congressionally-mandated Head Start Impact Study was conducted across 84 nationally representative grantee/delegate agencies. Approximately 5,000 newly entering 3- and 4-year-old children applying for Head Start were randomly assigned to either a Head Start group that had access to Head Start program services or to a non- Head Start group that could enrol in available community non-Head Start services, selected by their parents. Data collection began in fall 2002 and is scheduled to continue through 2006, following children through the spring of their 1st-grade year. The study quantifies the impact of Head Start separately for 3- and 4-year-old children across child cognitive, social-emotional, and health domains as well as ii on parenting practices. This book is essential reading for those in the education field.

Book Synopsis Sustainable Energy Investment by : Joseph Nyangon
Download or read book Sustainable Energy Investment written by Joseph Nyangon and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2021-03-10 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the technical, market, and policy innovations for unlocking sustainable investment in the energy sector. While finalizing this book, the COVID-19 pandemic is cutting a devastating swath through the global economy, causing the biggest fall in energy sector investment, exacerbating the global trade finance gap, worsening signs of growing income inequality, and devastating the health and livelihoods of millions. What is the parallel between the COVID-19 pandemic and the climate change crisis? The impacts of the global pandemic are expected to last for a few years, whereas those associated with the climate crisis will play out over several decades with potentially irreversible consequences. However, both show that the cost of inaction or delay in addressing the risks can lead to devastating outcomes or a greater probability of irreversible, catastrophic damages. In the context of sustainable energy investment and the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy, what ways can financial markets and institutions support net-zero-emission activities and the shift to a sustainable economy, including investment in energy efficiency, low-carbon and renewable energy technologies? This book provides students, policymakers, and energy investment professionals with the knowledge and theoretical tools necessary to address related questions in sustainable energy investment, risk management, and energy innovation agendas.
