Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most people who have heard the phrase, ‘there’s nothing new under the sun,’ tend to agree if they live long enough. I suspect that most people don’t know that this phrase was adapted from the Bible (Ecclesiastes 1:9). This book is about our biblical religion and admittedly, there is no information contained in the text of this book that is new under this sun. What makes this text different is the concise, direct, and to the point manner in which the three important concepts that are crucial to our destiny are highlighted. These vital concepts are essential to God’s divine plan for mankind. There are, also, biblical truths highlighted that many may find uncomfortable and controversial, however, the truth is not as grievous as some may fear because the truth will set you free (John 8:32). The purpose of this book is to highlight these simple, straightforward, and vitally important concepts that are often overlooked or diminished in our daily routines which are crucial to our salvation. The goal is to explain why they are significant so that you will have good solid information to build a sound foundation in which to worship. This book is for those that are open to, curious about, and actively seeking information that points in the right direction—the truth.

It is an early initial attempt at aggregating a collection of ideas derived over the course of a decade around the notion of relative realities into a clear list of principles. This work introduces the start of a unification framework between the quantum and macroscopic scales. The accumulative drive of this work is a revision on the perception of everything. It is a must read for anyone truly interested in understanding a different perspective on our Existence.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this work is to present practical methods through which anyone, the beginner in particular, may realize his ideals, cause his cherished dreams to come true, and cause the visions of the soul to become tangible realities in everyday life. The best minds now believe that the ideal can be made real; that every lofty idea can be applied in practical living, and that all that is beautiful on the heights of existence can be made permanent expressions in personal existence. And so popular is this belief becoming that it is rapidly permeating the entire thought of the world. Accordingly, the demand for instructive knowledge on this subject, that is simple as well as scientific, is becoming almost universal. This book has been written to supply that demand. However, it does not claim to be complete; nor could any work on "The Ideal Made Real" possibly be complete, because the ideal world is limitless and the process of making real the ideal is endless. To know how to begin is the principal secret, and he who has learned this secret may go on further and further, forever and forever, until he reaches the most sublime heights that endless existence has in store. No attempt has been made to formulate the ideas, methods and principles presented, into a definite system. In fact, the tendency to form a new system of thinking or a new philosophy of life, has been purposely avoided. Closely defined systems invariably become obstacles to advancement, and we are not concerned with new philosophies of life. Our purpose is the living of a greater and a greater life, and in such a life all philosophies must constantly change. In preparing the following pages, the object has been to take the beginner out of the limitations of the old into the boundlessness of the new; to emphasize the fact that the possibilities that are latent in the human mind are nothing less than marvelous, and that the way to turn those possibilities to practical use is sufficiently simple for anyone to understand. But no method has been presented that will not tend to suggest new and better methods as required for further advancement. The best ideas are those that inspire new ideas, better ideas, greater ideas. The most perfect science of life is that science that gives each individual the power to create and recreate his own science as he ascends in the scale of life. (Great souls are developed only where minds are left free to employ the best-known methods according to their own understanding and insight. And it is only as the soul grows greater and greater that the ideal can be made real. It is individuality and originality that give each person the power to make his own life as he may wish it to be; but those two important factors do not flourish in definite systems. There is no progress where the soul is placed in the hands of methods; true and continuous progress can he promoted only where all ideas, all methods and all principles are placed in the hands of the soul. We have selected the best ideas and the best methods known for making the ideal real, and through this work, will place them in your hands. We do not ask you to follow these methods; we simply ask you to use them. You will then find them all to be practical; you will find that every one will work and produce the results you desire. You will then, not only make real the ideal in your present sphere of life, but you will also develop within yourself that Greater Life, the power of which has no limit, the joy of which has no end.

I remain impressed by its thoughtfulness and charm.” — Steve K. Lamoreaux, American Journal of Physics “[A] rich autobiography and history-of-atomic-physics... One is impressed by Casimir’s memory for detail and zeal to find corroboration for the stories he tells. And they are splendid tales: Gamow’s playful pranks in Copenhagen: conversations with Lev Landau, ardent revolutionary but no Marxist; the tragedy of Ehrenfest, who killed himself after shooting his hopelessly retarded son... A charming, idiosyncratic, and meaningful account of events and personalities that changed physics.” — Kirkus “I myself read [this book] with fascination, meeting old friends such as Gamow, Landau, Kramers, and learning much more about them... Also in the book are character sketches of those who made physics in the Netherlands such as Lorentz, Kamerlingh Onnes and Ehrenfest, the latter remembered with the greatest affection by the author.” — Sir Nevill Mott, Contemporary Physics “The book... contains a valuable, entertaining and insightful collection of vignettes of many of the physicists Casimir has associated with[,]... Lorentz, Ehrenfest, Bohr, Pauli, with whom he studied; Goudsmit, Uhlenbeck, Landau, Gamov, members of his own generation; Kramers, Gorter, de Haas, colleagues in Dutch academic circles; Holst and Loupart, colleagues at the Philips Laboratories. Haphazard Reality also offers valuable insights into Dutch middle class culture and a rewarding overview of Dutch educational and scientific establishments... Casimir is a master at deftly and sensitively conveying the psychological ambiance of his surroundings. His description of the brilliant young theoretical physicists around Bohr in the early thirties conveys not only the style of doing physics but also delineates the issues addressed by outlining the content of their researches.” — S. S. Schweber, 4S Review “Engaging reminiscences by an important Dutch physicist of conversations with the major contributors to 20th-century physics. An overly modest, but otherwise balanced account of his own experiences and contributions from his early years at Leiden to his directorship of the Philips Laboratory.” — The Antioch Review “Haphazard Reality paints a vivid and insightful picture of the development of modern physics.” — Steve K. Lamoreaux, Proceedings of the American Philosophical Society

Book excerpt: Augustine Sherman tells in his new book, War of Morality, why the teachings of the church need to be readjusted to fit the true history of God's intent. 'What' and 'who' God actually 'is, ' and how to achieve oneness with God through understanding the distributions of God's creations. Faith is most certainly not the path to coming in oneness with God. And where God does not move in mysterious ways, leaves man yet again susceptible to the church's misleading teachings. This book targets those persons who are of religious persuasions and those without religious beliefs. It also summarizes a personal battle between what people should think and believe God 'is', versus what the church teaches 'what' and 'who' God 'is.

Book excerpt: Out There addresses the theme of cultural marginalization - the process whereby various groups are excluded from access to and participation in the dominant culture. It engages fundamental issues raised by attempts to define such concepts as mainstream, minority, and "other," and opens up new ways of thinking about culture and representation. All of the texts deal with questions of representation in the broadest sense, encompassing not just the visual but also the social and psychological aspects of cultural identity. Included are important theoretical writings by Homi Bhabha, Helene Cixous, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, and Monique Wittig. Their work is juxtaposed with essays on more overtly personal themes, often autobiographical, by Gloria Anzaldua, Bell Hooks, and Richard Rodriguez, among others. This rich anthology brings together voices from many different marginalized groups - groups that are often isolated from each other as well as from the dominant culture. It joins issues of gender, race, sexual preference, and class in one forum but without imposing a false unity on the diverse cultures represented. Each piece in the book subtly changes the way every other piece is read. While several essays focus on specific issues in art, such as John Yau's piece on Wilfredo Lam in the Museum of Modern Art, or James Clifford's on collecting art, others draw from debates in literature, film, and critical theory to provide a much broader context than is usually found in work aimed at an art audience. Topics range from the functions of language to the role of public art in the city, from gay pornography to the meanings of black hair styles. Out There also includes essays by Rosalyn Deutsche, Richard Dyer, Kobena Mercer, Edward Said, Gayatri Spivak, Gerald Vizenor and Simon Watney, as well as by the editors. Copublished with the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York Distributed by The MIT Press.

Book excerpt: An increasing number of systems are exploiting mixed reality but to date there are no systematic methods, techniques or guidelines for the development of such systems. In bringing together contributions on a broad range of mixed reality development issues this book provides a sound theoretical foundation for a disciplined approach to mixed reality engineering. Divided into three parts: interaction design, software design and implementation, the first section covers generic and specific mixed reality design elements and provides an overview of the design method; Part 2 addresses technical solutions for interaction techniques, development tools and a global view of the mixed reality software development process. The final section contains detailed case studies to highlight the application of mixed reality in a variety of fields including aviation, architecture, emergency management, games, and healthcare.

Book excerpt: The recognition that literature can be a healing tool is as old as Aristotle's discussion of catharsis. In bibliotherapy an individual reads or listens to a work of literature specifically for its therapeutic value. But until now a real professional tool was lacking. This handbook, the first of its kind, is designed to teach both professionals and laypersons how to use the whole spectrum of literature—from poetry to science fiction—to promote greater self-knowledge, to renew the spirit, and, in general, to aid in the healing process. Beginning with an explanation of the theoretical basis for bibliotherapy, the authors then provide a comprehensive overview of the procedures and goals of the discipline. The material is presented in such a way that the process may be adapted to the particular educational or psychological approach favored by the practitioner for the therapeutic treatment of individuals who have been abused or are chemically dependent, physically disabled, emotionally disturbed, hospitalized, in correctional institutions, or simply facing difficult or stressful life situations. The authors also offer insights for using bibliotherapy to promote the healthy growth and development of children and to provide psychological help and guidance to adults and the aging. Case studies from practice and training experiences illustrate the principles of bibliotherapy; in addition, the authors include end-of-chapter study questions for persons involved in therapy and self-help and practicum guides for professionals. Taken together, these materials comprise a unique and invaluable reference work in a new and significant field.
