Book excerpt: Os marcadores microssatélites ou SSR (Simple Sequence Repeat) têm se constituído em excelentes ferramentas na identificação de cultivares, análises genealógicas e estimativas das distâncias genéticas entre organismos. As cultivares de soja têm sido caracterizadas principalmente por descritores morfológicos e bioquímicos. Esses descritores, entretanto, não têm sido suficientes para caracterizar o grande número de cultivares passíveis de proteção, proporcionado pela Lei Brasileira de Proteção de Cultivares. A fim de se estabelecer novos descritores para cultivares de soja, foram estudados alelos de doze locos SSR, dos quais foram estimadas as amplitudes de variação de tamanho, assim como as respectivas freqüências, num grupo de 186 cultivares de soja brasileiras. Em média, 5,3 alelos por loco foram encontrados, com uma diversidade genética média de 0,64 ł 0,12. Esses locos foram utilizados para distinguir grupos morfologicamente similares apresentando coeficiente de similaridade média de 0,46 e estabeleceram 184 perfis nas 186 cultivares. Um dendrograma foi delineado baseado no perfil dos locos SSR e concordou com as informações da genealogia das cultivares.

Book excerpt: Com o objetivo de somar conhecimentos que possibilitem explorar a variabilidade genetica e servir de suporte para o desenvolvimento de cultivares de soja (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) adaptadas a condicoes de dias curtos, foi realizado estudo da heranca da caracteristica periodo juvenil (PJL) condicionado pelo efeito complementar da recombinacao de genes entre cultivares de florescimento classico. Foram realizados dois estudos. No primeiro estudou-se o controle genetico do carater PJL na cultivar MG/BR-22 (Garimpo). Quatro cultivares de florescimento classico, isto e que florescem precocemente, (Parana, Bossier, Bragg e Davis) foram cruzadas entre si e com MG/BR-22 (Garimpo). No segundo, estudou-se o tipo de acao genica que condiciona PJL. na linhagem BR80-6778. Esses estudos foram conduzidos em condicoes de dias curtos (semeadura s antecipadas), em casa-de-vegetacao e campo, na area experimental da EMBRAPA - Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Soja, Londrina, PR, localizado a 23o 22' de latitude sul. Avaliou-se diariamente o florescimento dos parentais e das populacoes F1, F2 e F3. Os dados obtidos foram agrupados em classes baseando-se na media, desvio padrao e amplitude de variacao. As condicoes de temperatura mais elevadas ocorridas no ambiente de casa de vegetacao contribuiu para a reducao do periodo vegetativo, comparativamente ao ambiente de campo. A condicao de plantio antecipado (setembro/ a meados de outubro) foi efetiva para evidenciar a caracteristicas PJL. As proporcoes genotipicas de 15:1 plantas precoce: plantas com PJL na populacao F2 e 9:6:1 para a populacao F3 observadas na combinacao Parana x Bossier caracterizam um caso de interacao digenica com efeito epistatico duplicado recessivo para o carater PJL. A segregacao da populacao F2 do cruzamento Parana x MG/BR-22 (Garimpo) resultou na proporcao esperada de 3:1, indicando que as cultivares MG/BR-22 (garimpo) e Parana diferem em um unico par de genes. De maneiro semelhante, no cruzamento Bossier x MG/BR-22 (Garimpo) a segregacao na propocao de 3:1 foi indicativa de que ambas cultivares diferem para o numero de dias para o florescimento em um locus genico. A cultivar Davis possue o mesmo gene para PJL. que a cultivar Parana, j 2j 2. A segregacao de F2 do cruzamento da cultivar Bragg, de florescimento classico, com MG/BR-22 (Garimpo) seguiu na proporcao de 15:1 indicando que essas cultivares diferem no florescimento para dois loci genicos. A linhagem BR 80-6778 compartilha um par de genes com a cultivar Parana, que quando em associacao com o par de alelos recessivos J 4J 4 retardam o florescimento em condicoes de dias curtos. Conclui-se dessa pesquisa que existem tres pares de genes condicionando a caracteristicas de periodo juvenil longo em condicoes de dias curtos. Foram atribuidas as seguintes constituicoes genotipicas para as cultivares Parana (j 2j 2J 3J 3J 4J 4), Bossier (J 2J 2j 3j 37 4J 4), MG/BR-22 (Garimpo) (j 2j 2j 3j 3j J 4J 4) e BR80-6778 (j 2j 2J 3J 3j 4j 4). A recombinacao dos genes j 2j 2j 3j 3 e j 2j 2j 3j 3j 4j 4 tem efeito pronunciado na manifestacao do carater. Isoladamente, com um unico locus em homozigose recessiva nao e suficiente para condicionar PJL.

A diferenca foi atribuida a um periodo mais longo de desenvolvimento com condicoes ambientais mais favoraveis. o indice de [lantochron produziu resultados mais consistente que o tempo cronologico, embora a sua utilidade esteja limitada a fase de desenvolvimento vegetativo das plantas. Baseado nos coeficientes de determinacao e na analise de residuos, tanto a equacao de Richards quanto a equacao polinomial cubica tendeu a ser para os dados de planta e de ramos individuais, ao passo que a equacao de Richards determinou melhores resultados para os dados foliares. Devido a melhor correspondencia de seus parametros a realidade. biologica, a equacao de Richards deve ser usada preferencialmente. A ocorrencia de instabilidades matematico-estatisticas e de elevadas para se estimativas dos seu parametros em diversas situacoes, exigem, contudo, uma avaliacao caso a caso dos resultados.
