The first important fact to be stated is that there are several kinds of potato blight, and treatment which prevents one kind of blight may be entirely worthless for another kind. 'likewise, there are different kinds of potato rot. Unfortunately, these blights and rots are often difficult to distinguish without the aid of a microscope. Farmers can scarcely expect to be able always to identify them with certainty, but it is worth while to learn the leading symptoms of the principal diseases in order that rational methods of treatment maybe employed.
