Download or read book Méthodes mathématiques et numériques pour les équations aux dérivées partielles written by CHASKALOVIC Joël and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2013-01-21 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Navier–Stokes Equations by : Roger Temam
Download or read book Navier–Stokes Equations written by Roger Temam and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2024-05-24 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1977, the book is devoted to the theory and numerical analysis of the Navier-Stokes equations for viscous incompressible fluid. On the theoretical side, results related to the existence, the uniqueness, and, in some cases, the regularity of solutions are presented. On the numerical side, various approaches to the approximation of Navier-Stokes problems by discretization are considered, such as the finite dereference method, the finite element method, and the fractional steps method. The problems of stability and convergence for numerical methods are treated as completely as possible. The new material in the present book (as compared to the preceding 1984 edition) is an appendix reproducing a survey article written in 1998. This appendix touches upon a few aspects not addressed in the earlier editions, in particular a short derivation of the Navier-Stokes equations from the basic conservation principles in continuum mechanics, further historical perspectives, and indications on new developments in the area. The appendix also surveys some aspects of the related Euler equations and the compressible Navier-Stokes equations. The book is written in the style of a textbook and the author has attempted to make the treatment self-contained. It can be used as a textbook or a reference book for researchers. Prerequisites for reading the book include some familiarity with the Navier-Stokes equations and some knowledge of functional analysis and Sololev spaces.

Book Synopsis The Foundations of Chaos Revisited: From Poincaré to Recent Advancements by : Christos Skiadas
Download or read book The Foundations of Chaos Revisited: From Poincaré to Recent Advancements written by Christos Skiadas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-04-29 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With contributions from a number of pioneering researchers in the field, this collection is aimed not only at researchers and scientists in nonlinear dynamics but also at a broader audience interested in understanding and exploring how modern chaos theory has developed since the days of Poincaré. This book was motivated by and is an outcome of the CHAOS 2015 meeting held at the Henri Poincaré Institute in Paris, which provided a perfect opportunity to gain inspiration and discuss new perspectives on the history, development and modern aspects of chaos theory. Henri Poincaré is remembered as a great mind in mathematics, physics and astronomy. His works, well beyond their rigorous mathematical and analytical style, are known for their deep insights into science and research in general, and the philosophy of science in particular. The Poincaré conjecture (only proved in 2006) along with his work on the three-body problem are considered to be the foundation of modern chaos theory.

Book Synopsis Modélisation et simulation numériques en formage virtuel by : SAANOUNI Khemais
Download or read book Modélisation et simulation numériques en formage virtuel written by SAANOUNI Khemais and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-04-16 with total page 578 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Mathematical Modelling of Physical Systems by : Michel Cessenat
Download or read book Mathematical Modelling of Physical Systems written by Michel Cessenat and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-10-26 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comprehensive and thorough, this monograph emphasizes the main role differential geometry and convex analysis play in the understanding of physical, chemical, and mechanical notions. Central focus is placed on specifying the agreement between the functional framework and its physical necessity and on making clear the intrinsic character of physical elements, independent from specific charts or frames. The book is divided into four sections, covering thermostructure, classical mechanics, fluid mechanics modelling, and behavior laws. An extensive appendix provides notations and definitions as well as brief explanation of integral manifolds, symplectic structure, and contact structure. Plenty of examples are provided throughout the book, and reviews of basic principles in differential geometry and convex analysis are presented as needed. This book is a useful resource for graduate students and researchers in the field.
