He is called Murugu in the Tirumurukā halftruuppaai and portrayed as a deity of beauty and youth, with sentences like "his body shines like the sun rising from the jade ocean." It depicts him with six faces each with a function, twelve arms, victory over evil, and shrines in the hilly areas devoted to him.
