Book excerpt: The authors present a measurement of the Z[gamma] production cross section and limits on anomalous ZZ[gamma] and Z[gamma][gamma] couplings for form-factor scales of [Lambda] = 750 and 1000 GeV. The measurement is based on 138 (152) candidate events in the ee[gamma] ([mu][mu][gamma]) final state using 320 (290) pb−1 of p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV. Book excerpt: We present the first observation of the Z[gamma] →[nu]{bar [nu]}[gamma] process at the Tevatron at 5.1 standard deviations significance, based on 3.6 fb−1 of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p{bar p} Collider at √s = 1.96 TeV. The measured Z[gamma] cross section multiplied by the branching fraction of Z → {nu}{bar {nu}} is 32 ± 9(stat. + syst.) ± 2(lumi.) fb for the photon E{sub T} > 90 GeV. It is in agreement with the standard model prediction of 39 ± 4 fb. We set the most restrictive limits on anomalous trilinear Z[gamma][gamma] and ZZ[gamma] gauge boson couplings at a hadron collider to date, with three constraints being the world's strongest.

Book excerpt: The production rate and kinematics of photons produced in association with Z bosons are studied using 2 fb−1 of p{bar p} collision data collected at the Collider Detector at Fermilab. The cross section for p{bar p} → ll−? + X (where the leptons l are either muons or electrons with dilepton mass M{sub l{ell}}> 40 GeV/c2, and where the photon has transverse energy E{sub T}{sup?}> 7 GeV and is well separated from the leptons) is 4.6 ± 0.2 (stat) ± 0.3 (syst) ± 0.3 (lum) pb, which is consistent with standard model expectations. We use the photon ET distribution from Z{gamma} events where the Z has decayed to?+?−, e+e−, or?{bar {nu}} to set limits on anomalous (non-standard-model) trilinear couplings between photons and Z bosons.

Book excerpt: The authors present a study of [mu][mu][mu][mu], eeee, and [mu][mu]ee events using 1 fb−1 of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p{bar p} Collider at √s = 1.96 TeV. Requiring the lepton pair masses to be greater than 30 GeV, they observe one event, consistent with the expected background of 0.13 ± 0.03 events and with the predicted standard model ZZ and Z[gamma]* production of 1.71 ± 0.15 events. They set an upper limit on the ZZ and Z[gamma]* cross section of 4.4 pb at the 95% C.L. They also derive limits on anomalous neutral trilinear ZZZ and ZZ[gamma]* gauge couplings. The one-parameter 95% C.L. coupling limits with a form factor scale [Lambda] = 1.2 TeV are -0.28

Download or read book Measurement of the Z[gamma] Production Cross Section in Pp Collisions at 8 TeV and Search for Anomalous Triple Gauge Boson Couplings written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cross section for the production of Z[gamma] in proton-proton collisions at 8 TeV is measured based on data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fb−1. Events with an oppositely-charged pair of muons or electrons together with an isolated photon are selected. The differential cross section as a function of the photon transverse momentum is measured inclusively and exclusively, where the exclusive selection applies a veto on central jets. The observed cross sections are compatible with the expectations of next-to-next-to-leading-order quantum chromodynamics. Limits on anomalous triple gauge couplings of ZZ[gamma] and Z[gamma][gamma] are set that improve on previous experimental results obtained with the charged lepton decay modes of the Z boson.

Download or read book Measurement of W-gamma and Z-gamma Production in Pp Collisions at Sqrt(s) written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A measurement of W-gamma and Z-gamma production in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV is presented. Results are based on a data sample recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 inverse picobarns. The electron and muon decay channels of the W and Z are used. The total cross sections are measured for photon transverse energy>10 GeV and spatial separation from charged leptons in the plane of pseudorapidity and azimuthal angle>0.7, and with an additional dilepton invariant mass requirement of> 50 GeV for the Z-gamma process. The following cross section times branching fraction values are found: sigma(pp to W-gamma+X) B(W to lepton neutrino) = 56.3 +/- 5.0 (stat.) +/- 5.0 (syst.) +/- 2.3 (lumi.) pb and sigma(pp to Z-gamma+X) B}(Z to lepton lepton) = 9.4 +/- 1.0 (stat.) +/- 0.6 (syst.) +/- 0.4 (lumi.) pb. These measurements are in agreement with standard model predictions. The first limits on anomalous WW gamma, ZZ gamma, and Z gamma gamma trilinear gauge couplings at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV are set.

This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using Z[gamma] candidate events collected by the CDF detector at the Tevatron Collider, we search for potential anomalous (non-standard-model) couplings between the Z boson and the photon. At the hard scatter energies typical of the Tevatron, standard model Z[gamma] couplings are too weak to be detected by current experiments; hence any evidence of couplings indicates new physics. Measurements are performed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.9 fb−1 in the Z → [nu]{bar {nu}} decay channel and 5.1 fb−1 in the Z → l+l− (l = [mu], e) decay channels. The combination of these measurements provides the most stringent limits to date on Z[gamma] trilinear gauge couplings. Using an energy scale of [Lambda] = 1.5 TeV to allow for a direct comparison with previous measurements, we find limits on the CP-conserving parameters that describe Z[gamma] couplings to be
