Book Synopsis Advanced Machining Processes of Metallic Materials by : Wit Grzesik
Download or read book Advanced Machining Processes of Metallic Materials written by Wit Grzesik and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-11-15 with total page 610 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Machining Processes of Metallic Materials: Theory, Modelling and Applications, Second Edition, explores the metal cutting processes with regard to theory and industrial practice. Structured into three parts, the first section provides information on the fundamentals of machining, while the second and third parts include an overview of the effects of the theoretical and experimental considerations in high-level machining technology and a summary of production outputs related to part quality. In particular, topics discussed include: modern tool materials, mechanical, thermal and tribological aspects of machining, computer simulation of various process phenomena, chip control, monitoring of the cutting state, progressive and hybrid machining operations, as well as practical ways for improving machinability and generation and modeling of surface integrity. This new edition addresses the present state and future development of machining technologies, and includes expanded coverage on machining operations, such as turning, milling, drilling, and broaching, as well as a new chapter on sustainable machining processes. In addition, the book provides a comprehensive description of metal cutting theory and experimental and modeling techniques, along with basic machining processes and their effective use in a wide range of manufacturing applications. The research covered here has contributed to a more generalized vision of machining technology, including not only traditional manufacturing tasks, but also potential (emerging) new applications, such as micro and nanotechnology. - Includes new case studies illuminate experimental methods and outputs from different sectors of the manufacturing industry - Presents metal cutting processes that would be applicable for various technical, engineering, and scientific levels - Includes an updated knowledge of standards, cutting tool materials and tools, new machining technologies, relevant machinability records, optimization techniques, and surface integrity

Download or read book Modern Algebra with Applications written by William J. Gilbert and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2004-01-30 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Praise for the first edition "This book is clearly written and presents a large number ofexamples illustrating the theory . . . there is no other book ofcomparable content available. Because of its detailed coverage ofapplications generally neglected in the literature, it is adesirable if not essential addition to undergraduate mathematicsand computer science libraries." –CHOICE As a cornerstone of mathematical science, the importance ofmodern algebra and discrete structures to many areas of science andtechnology is apparent and growing–with extensive use incomputing science, physics, chemistry, and data communications aswell as in areas of mathematics such as combinatorics. Blending the theoretical with the practical in the instructionof modern algebra, Modern Algebra with Applications, Second Editionprovides interesting and important applications of thissubject–effectively holding your interest and creating a moreseamless method of instruction. Incorporating the applications of modern algebra throughout itsauthoritative treatment of the subject, this book covers the fullcomplement of group, ring, and field theory typically contained ina standard modern algebra course. Numerous examples are included ineach chapter, and answers to odd-numbered exercises are appended inthe back of the text. Chapter topics include: Boolean Algebras Polynomial and Euclidean Rings Groups Quotient Rings Quotient Groups Field Extensions Symmetry Groups in Three Dimensions Latin Squares Pólya—Burnside Method of Enumeration Geometrical Constructions Monoids and Machines Error-Correcting Codes Rings and Fields In addition to improvements in exposition, this fully updatedSecond Edition also contains new material on order of an elementand cyclic groups, more details about the lattice of divisors of aninteger, and new historical notes. Filled with in-depth insights and over 600 exercises of varyingdifficulty, Modern Algebra with Applications, Second Edition canhelp anyone appreciate and understand this subject.

Written for Learners of English by Alex Raynham. 'What does the world look like from the moon?' 'How do our bodies work?' 'Is it possible for people to fly?' 'Can I make a horse of bronze that is 8 metres tall?' 'How can we have cleaner cities?' All his life, Leonardo da Vinci asked questions. We know him as a great artist, but he was one of the great thinkers of all time, and even today, doctors and scientists are still learning from his ideas. Meet the man who made a robot lion, wrote backwards, and tried to win a war by moving a river . . .

Book Synopsis Intentional Perspectives on Information Systems Engineering by : Selmin Nurcan
Download or read book Intentional Perspectives on Information Systems Engineering written by Selmin Nurcan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-06-17 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Requirements engineering has since long acknowledged the importance of the notion that system requirements are stakeholder goals—rather than system functions—and ought to be elicited, modeled and analyzed accordingly. In this book, Nurcan and her co-editors collected twenty contributions from leading researchers in requirements engineering with the intention to comprehensively present an overview of the different perspectives that exist today, in 2010, on the concept of intention in the information systems community. These original papers honor Colette Rolland for her contributions to this field, as she was probably the first to emphasize that ‘intention’ has to be considered as a first-class concept in information systems engineering. Written by long-term collaborators (and most often friends) of Colette Rolland, this volume covers topics like goal-oriented requirements engineering, model-driven development, method engineering, and enterprise modeling. As such, it is a tour d’horizon of Colette Rolland’s lifework, and is presented to her on the occasion of her retirement at CaISE 2010 in Hammamet, the conference she once cofounded and which she helped to grow and prosper for more than 20 years.

Book Synopsis Investigation of the Hydraulics of Horizontal Drains in Plumbing Systems by : Robert S. Wyly
Download or read book Investigation of the Hydraulics of Horizontal Drains in Plumbing Systems written by Robert S. Wyly and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results are reported from an investigation of the hydraulics of flow in experimental apparatus simulating nominally horizontal simple and branching drains of plumbing systems. The data are correlated with limited findings in an earlier, unpublished NBS study the results of which have been utilized in current plumbing codes. The need for further research is pointed out, particularly in relation to hydraulic performance of drain systems as affected by steep slopes, drain storage volume, energy losses at stack bases, attenuation of water depths and discharge rates in long drains, and large drain diameters.
