This work examines whether it is actually possible to prevent sexual violence being employed as a weapon of war against women, men and children. It assesses existing prevention strategies, uses Daesh as a case study – to illustrate the limitations of the current approaches – and considers additional measures. The author concludes that it is possible to prevent sexual violence in war, provided that all appropriate measures are harnessed and adapted to the specific circumstances of each conflict. It will, though, require improvements to existing strategies, the use of additional prevention measures, more resources and long-term engagement of all actors. Des améliorations aux stratégies existantes, l’utilisation de mesures de prévention supplémentaires, davantage de ressources et un engagement à long terme de tous les acteurs seront cependant nécessaires. For example, men may use gender-based violence to maintain power and control in relationships, and women may remain in such relationships due to fear, dependency, economic vulnerability, or cultural and social dynamics. Gender-based violence is a broad and complex social problem that affects many aspects of human life. It can manifest itself in various forms and contexts, including the family environment, social relationships, work environment, etc. It is important to understand that gender-based violence is not limited only to physical actions, although they often act as one of its manifestations. It also includes emotional abuse, psychological abuse, economic abuse, and threats and behavioral control. This may occur due to inequalities in power and status between partners, as well as cultural and social attitudes that support and reinforce inequality between genders. However, men, boys and people with other gender identities can also be vulnerable to gender-based violence. Research shows that men can also be victims of gender-based violence, but the frequency and forms of violence may vary depending on cultural, social and other factors. Gender-based violence is a complex and diverse issue that requires attention and support for all victims, regardless of their gender identity. Combating gender-based violence requires a systemic approach that includes education and public awareness of the problem, strengthening legal and legal responses, support for victims, and working to change cultural norms and stereotypes about gender. I took a Few days to really pay attention to every act of Violence that I saw. It was two days of just paying attention and going about my daily life that I saw thirty-eight acts of violence! I know that sounds a bit much but thirty-eight acts in forty-eight hours is a reminder to me that something needs to be done. This may not be your experience but it was mine seeming that I am in Prison. It's a violent place. But only nine of those acts actually took place between people who are incarcerated with me. The rest I saw, was on our ever-faithful television set. Many of the things we see, our children see too and I'm sure that it has a negative effect on them as well as us as a people. Children often do things that they see others do. If a child is constantly seeing someone shoot another person on TV, then I believe that child is more likely to use a gun in his or her life. So where does it stop? This Book is my personal attempt to STOP THE VIOLENCE which has become a worldwide epidemic. I pray that anyone who reads this book will make a decision to say NO to VIOLENCE. And learn that it is never the answer because in the end, we will have to answer to our creator for all our good deeds, and bad. When the violence stops, the healing can begin...for us all.
