This book was released on 2000-07-01 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Environmental Information Systems in Industry and Public Administration provides an overview of worldwide research and development of environmental information systems (ENVIS). This book is the only topical documentation of the highly innovative approach of information systems for environmental protection. Issues are covered from the global and multinational level to industrial solutions for enterprises. In particular, the book deals with protection of air, water and soil, urban and landscape developments, prevention of environmental hazards and waste management.
Book Synopsis Discrete Stochastics by : Konrad Jacobs
Download or read book Discrete Stochastics written by Konrad Jacobs and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discrete stochastics is the theory of discrete probability spaces. This undergraduate textbook gives a concise introduction into discrete stochastics in general, and into a variety of typical special topics in this field, such as information theory, fluctuation theory, and semigroups of stochastic matrices. The emphasis lies on probability theory rather than on statistical methodology. Motivations, interpretations, and numerous examples and exercises relate the mathematical theory to stochastic experience.

Book Synopsis All of Statistics by : Larry Wasserman
Download or read book All of Statistics written by Larry Wasserman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-11 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Taken literally, the title "All of Statistics" is an exaggeration. But in spirit, the title is apt, as the book does cover a much broader range of topics than a typical introductory book on mathematical statistics. This book is for people who want to learn probability and statistics quickly. It is suitable for graduate or advanced undergraduate students in computer science, mathematics, statistics, and related disciplines. The book includes modern topics like non-parametric curve estimation, bootstrapping, and classification, topics that are usually relegated to follow-up courses. The reader is presumed to know calculus and a little linear algebra. No previous knowledge of probability and statistics is required. Statistics, data mining, and machine learning are all concerned with collecting and analysing data.

Book Synopsis Ordered Random Variables: Theory and Applications by : Muhammad Qaiser Shahbaz
Download or read book Ordered Random Variables: Theory and Applications written by Muhammad Qaiser Shahbaz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-29 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ordered Random Variables have attracted several authors. The basic building block of Ordered Random Variables is Order Statistics which has several applications in extreme value theory and ordered estimation. The general model for ordered random variables, known as Generalized Order Statistics has been introduced relatively recently by Kamps (1995).
Book Synopsis Integer Programming and Related Areas by : C. Kastning
Download or read book Integer Programming and Related Areas written by C. Kastning and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integer Prograw~ing is one of the most fascinating and difficult areas in the field of Mathematical Optimization. Due to this fact notable research contributions to Integer Programming have been made in very different branches of mathematics and its applications. Since these publications are scattered over many journals, proceedings volumes, monographs, and working papers, a comprehensive bibliography of all these sources is a helpful tool even for specialists in this field. I initiated this compilation of literature in 1970 at the Institut fur ~konometrie und Operations Research, University of Bonn. Since then many collaborators have contributed to and worked on it. Among them Dipl.-Math. Claus Kastning has done the bulk of the work. With great perseverance and diligence he has gathered all the material and checked it with the original sources. The main aim was to incorporate rare and not easily accessible sources like Russian journals, preprints or unpublished papers. Without the invaluable and dedicated engagement of Claus Kastning the bibliography would never have reached this final version. For this reason he must be considered its responsible editor. As with any other collection this literature list has a subjective viewpoint and may be in some sense incomplete. We have however tried to be as complete as possible. The bibliography contains 4704 different publications by 6767 authors which were classified by 11839 descriptor entries.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the author discusses a modern concept of general education that then helps to clarify both curricular and pedagogical deficits involved in conventional mathematics instruction. It provides an outline of an alternative mathematics instruction that can help to realize a general education and presents detailed arguments for seven interconnected objectives of a school system aiming at general education.
Book Synopsis The Mathematics of Frobenius in Context by : Thomas Hawkins
Download or read book The Mathematics of Frobenius in Context written by Thomas Hawkins and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-07-23 with total page 698 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frobenius made many important contributions to mathematics in the latter part of the 19th century. Hawkins here focuses on his work in linear algebra and its relationship with the work of Burnside, Cartan, and Molien, and its extension by Schur and Brauer. He also discusses the Berlin school of mathematics and the guiding force of Weierstrass in that school, as well as the fundamental work of d'Alembert, Lagrange, and Laplace, and of Gauss, Eisenstein and Cayley that laid the groundwork for Frobenius's work in linear algebra. The book concludes with a discussion of Frobenius's contribution to the theory of stochastic matrices.
