Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Robustness analysis is considered for systems with structured uncertainty involving a combination of linear time-invariant and linear time-varying perturbations, and parametric uncertainty. A necessary and sufficient condition for robust stability in terms of the structured singular value p is obtained, based on a finite augmentation of the original problem. The augmentation corresponds to considering the system at a fixed number of frequencies. Sufficient conditions based on scaled small-gain are also considered and characterized. A substantial amount of research in recent years has been devoted to analysis and synthesis of control systems o achieve robust stability and performance in the presence of structured uncertainty. This implies a decentralized nature of the uncertain perturbation, which is a reasonable modeling choice for complex systems, where uncertainty may be introduced at the subsystem level (see Safonov [17] and Doyle [5] for early treatments of this). In addition t o this "spatial" structure, different assumptions can be made on the dynamic properties of the uncertainty: real parametric, linear time invariant (LTI), linear time varying (LTV) or nonlinear perturbations. All these uncertainty classes arise naturally in modeling. Parametric uncertainty appears frequently in first principles models; LTI perturbations are well suited when.

Download or read book Robustness of Dynamic Systems with Parameter Uncertainties written by Mohamed Mansour and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Robust Control is one of the fastest growing and promising areas of research today. In many practical systems there exist uncertainties which have to be considered in the analysis and design of control systems. In the last decade methods were developed for dealing with dynamic systems with unstructured uncertainties such as HOO_ and £I-optimal control. For systems with parameter uncertainties, the seminal paper of V. L. Kharitonov has triggered a large amount of very promising research. An international workshop dealing with all aspects of robust control was successfully organized by S. P. Bhattacharyya and L. H. Keel in San Antonio, Texas, USA in March 1991. We organized the second international workshop in this area in Ascona, Switzer land in April 1992. However, this second workshop was restricted to robust control of dynamic systems with parameter uncertainties with the objective to concentrate on some aspects of robust control. This book contains a collection of papers presented at the International Workshop on Robust Control held at the Centro Stefano Franscini, Monte Verita, Ascona, Switzer land on April 12-17, 1992 as well as a list of open problems presented during a dis cussion session at the workshop. Thirtyfive leading researchers from all over the world working in the area of robust control of dynamic systems with parameter uncertainties were invited to present their recent results and to discuss with their colleagues the recent advances in this field.

Download or read book Robotic Systems for Handling and Assembly written by Daniel Schütz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-11-20 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although parallel robots are known to offer many advantages with respect to accuracy, dynamics, and stiffness, major breakthroughs in industrial applications have not yet taken place. This is due to a knowledge gap preventing fast and precise execution of industrial handling and assembly tasks. This book focuses on the design, modeling, and control of innovative parallel structures as well as the integration of novel machine elements. Special attention is paid to the integration of active components into lightweight links and passive joints. In addition, new control concepts are introduced to minimize structural vibrations. Although the optimization of robot systems itself allows a reduction of cycle times, these can be further decreased by improved path planning, robot programming, and automated assembly planning concepts described by 25 contributions within this book. The content of this volume is subdivided into four main parts dealing with Modeling and Design, System Implementation, Control and Programming as well as Adaptronics and Components. This book is aimed at researchers and postgraduates working in the field of parallel robots as well as practicing engineers dealing with industrial robot development and robotic applications.

Book Synopsis Robust Control Design Using H-8 Methods by : Ian R. Petersen
Download or read book Robust Control Design Using H-8 Methods written by Ian R. Petersen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2000-09-22 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a unified collection of important, recent results for the design of robust controllers for uncertain systems. Most of the results presented are based on H? control theory, or its stochastic counterpart, risk sensitive control theory.Central to the philosophy of the book is the notion of an uncertain system. Uncertain systems are considered using several different uncertainty modeling schemes. These include norm bounded uncertainty, integral quadratic constraint (IQC) uncertainty and a number of stochastic uncertainty descriptions. In particular, the authors examine stochastic uncertain systems in which the uncertainty is outlined by a stochastic version of the IQC uncertainty description. For each class of uncertain systems covered in the book, corresponding robust control problems are defined and solutions discussed.
Book Synopsis Wind Farm by : Gastón Orlando Suvire
Download or read book Wind Farm written by Gastón Orlando Suvire and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-07-28 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last two decades, increase in electricity demand and environmental concern resulted in fast growth of power production from renewable sources. Wind power is one of the most efficient alternatives. Due to rapid development of wind turbine technology and increasing size of wind farms, wind power plays a significant part in the power production in some countries. However, fundamental differences exist between conventional thermal, hydro, and nuclear generation and wind power, such as different generation systems and the difficulty in controlling the primary movement of a wind turbine, due to the wind and its random fluctuations. These differences are reflected in the specific interaction of wind turbines with the power system. This book addresses a wide variety of issues regarding the integration of wind farms in power systems. The book contains 14 chapters divided into three parts. The first part outlines aspects related to the impact of the wind power generation on the electric system. In the second part, alternatives to mitigate problems of the wind farm integration are presented. Finally, the third part covers issues of modeling and simulation of wind power system.
