This book was released on 2014-10-21 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Bobath Concept written by Sue Raine and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-05-09 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Authored by members of the British Bobath Tutors Association, Bobath Concept: Theory and Clinical Practice in Neurological Rehabilitationis a practical illustrated guide that offers a detailed exploration of the theoretical underpinning and clinical interventions of the Bobath Concept. The evolution of the Bobath concept is brilliantly captured in this volume. The recognition that the best inhibition may come from engaging the patient in normal activities is an example of the way one of the notions central to the original Bobath Concept has developed. In short, the Bobath Concept lies at the heart of an approach to neurorehabilitation that is ready to take advantage of the rapidly advancing understanding, coming from neuroscience, of brain function in, in particular, of the effects of and responses to damage, and the factors that may drive recovery. It is no coincidence that neuroplasticity figures so prominently in the pages that follow.’ Emeritus Professor Raymond Tallis BM BCh BA FRCP FMedSci LittD DLitt FRSA This book guides the reader through general principles to more specific application of neurophysiological principles and movement re-education in the recovery of important areas, including moving between sitting and standing, locomotion and recovery of upper limb function. Bobath Concept: Theory and Clinical Practice in Neurological Rehabilitationwill be invaluable to undergraduate and qualified physiotherapists /occupational therapists and all professionals working in neurological rehabilitation. Covers the theoretical underpinning of the Bobath Concept. Presents a holistic, 24-hour approach to functional recovery. Focuses on efficient movement and motor learning, to maximise function. Forges links between theory and clinical practice. Illustrated throughout.

Book Synopsis Plasticity in the Human Nervous System by : Simon Boniface
Download or read book Plasticity in the Human Nervous System written by Simon Boniface and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2009-06-25 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is now well known that the functional organisation of the cerebral cortex is plastic and that changes in organisation occur throughout life in response to normal and abnormal experience. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive and painless technique that has opened up completely new and fascinating avenues to study neural plasticity. First, TMS can be used to detect changes in excitability or connectivity of the stimulated cortex which may have occurred through processes such as learning or recovery from a lesion. Second, repeated TMS by itself can induce changes in excitability and connectivity of the stimulated cortex which may be used therapeutically in neurological and psychiatric disease. Third, TMS can induce short-lasting 'virtual lesions', which may directly test the functional relevance of brain plasticity. Current knowledge of all these exciting possibilities is brought together in this book, written by the world's leading experts in the field. The book is an essential compendium on plasticity of the human brain for clinical neurophysiologists, neurologists, psychiatrists and neuroscientists.
Book Synopsis Callous Disregard by : Andrew J. Wakefield
Download or read book Callous Disregard written by Andrew J. Wakefield and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2017-11-21 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Callous Disregard is the account of how a doctor confronted first a disease and then the medical system that sought and still seeks to deny that disease, leaving millions of children to suffer and a world at risk. In 1995, Dr. Andrew Wakefield came to a fork in the road. As an academic gastroenterologist at the Royal Free School of Medicine and the University of London, he was confronted by a professional challenge and a moral choice. Previously healthy children were, according to their parents, regressing into autism and developing intestinal problems. Many parents blamed the MMR vaccine. Trusting his medical training, the parental narrative, and, above all, the instinct of mothers for their children?s well-being, he chose what would become a very difficult road. Dr. Wakefield provides the facts and an explanation of the problem that confronted him and his colleagues fifteen years ago. He does this in a detailed forensic analysis of the lies, obfuscation, cover-up, and dystopian science and medicine that panders to commercial interests at the expense of your children.

Download or read book Immunization written by Walene James and published by Praeger. This book was released on 1995-05-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The only book that explores the vaccination issue from political, ethical, psychological, aesthetic, and spiritual perspectives. Using principles of general semantics to recognize propaganda, particularly medical propaganda, it points to the power of the media to create our reality. James suggests an unusual consciousness-raising plan of action to insure freedom of choice and non-harrassment of persons who choose to stay off the vaccine bandwagon. The author's controversial position is supported throughout the book by the scientific discoveries of researchers who have received little recognition in orthodox medical literature. This new, completely revised edition shows: how vaccinations damage the immune and nervous systems, the vaccine-drug-AIDS connection, how to become propaganda-proof, and how to develop new paradigms of health and preventive medicine.
