Book Synopsis Speech Recognition Model Compression by : Madhumitha Sakthi
Download or read book Speech Recognition Model Compression written by Madhumitha Sakthi and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Speech recognition models are widely deployed in mobile and embedded devices. However, the base architecture with which these models are developed is usually made of neural networks with bigger size and millions of model parameters. In this report, we investigate three compression schemes for these neural network architecture with a trade-off on accuracy and compressed model size. Also, we perform sensitivity analysis on the network parameters with known perturbations to determine the best compression scheme for a particular layer. The first compression scheme deployed is k-means clustering. This helps in generating clusters which are used for weight sharing and hence reduction in the total number of parameters required. Secondly, we employ svd based compression on various network layer parameters and achieve the best compression using svd in the case of a large vocabulary continuous speech recognition model. Finally, a two-stage compression scheme using k-means and Huffman coding is proposed. We have investigated these compression schemes on keyword spotter speech recognition system and the Baidu’s DeepSpeech large vocabulary continuous speech recognition model and have shown 58.3% reduction in size for only a 3.4% drop in accuracy and 45% reduction in size for only a 1.21% drop in accuracy respectively

Book Synopsis Error Control, Cryptology, and Speech Compression by : Andrew Chmora
Download or read book Error Control, Cryptology, and Speech Compression written by Andrew Chmora and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1994-07-28 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume comprises a collection of papers presented at the Workshop on Information Protection, held in Moscow, Russia in December 1993. The 16 thoroughly refereed papers by internationally known scientists selected for this volume offer an exciting perspective on error control coding, cryptology, and speech compression. In the former Soviet Union, research related to information protection was often shielded from the international scientific community. Therefore, the results presented by Russian researchers and engineers at this first international workshop on this topic are of particular interest; their work defines the cutting edge of research in many areas of error control, cryptology, and speech recognition.
Book Synopsis Speech Processing in Embedded Systems by : Priyabrata Sinha
Download or read book Speech Processing in Embedded Systems written by Priyabrata Sinha and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-12-01 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Speech Processing has rapidly emerged as one of the most widespread and well-understood application areas in the broader discipline of Digital Signal Processing. Besides the telecommunications applications that have hitherto been the largest users of speech processing algorithms, several non-traditional embedded processor applications are enhancing their functionality and user interfaces by utilizing various aspects of speech processing. "Speech Processing in Embedded Systems" describes several areas of speech processing, and the various algorithms and industry standards that address each of these areas. The topics covered include different types of Speech Compression, Echo Cancellation, Noise Suppression, Speech Recognition and Speech Synthesis. In addition this book explores various issues and considerations related to efficient implementation of these algorithms on real-time embedded systems, including the role played by processor CPU and peripheral functionality.

Book Synopsis Effect of Reference Set Selection on Speaker Dependent Speech Recognition by : Zongge Li
Download or read book Effect of Reference Set Selection on Speaker Dependent Speech Recognition written by Zongge Li and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper describes an algorithm for compressing the spectral representation of an utterance along the time axis while keeping the main features intact. The goal of the algorithm is to save template storage space and to reduce the time required for recognition. For 8 speakers, 5 data sets each, the results indicated that we can save about 40% of the template space and 35% of the recognition time with only a slightly higher error rate. (Author).
