Download or read book Advances in Computational Dynamics of Particles, Materials and Structures written by Jason Har and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-07-25 with total page 806 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational methods for the modeling and simulation of the dynamic response and behavior of particles, materials and structural systems have had a profound influence on science, engineering and technology. Complex science and engineering applications dealing with complicated structural geometries and materials that would be very difficult to treat using analytical methods have been successfully simulated using computational tools. With the incorporation of quantum, molecular and biological mechanics into new models, these methods are poised to play an even bigger role in the future. Advances in Computational Dynamics of Particles, Materials and Structures not only presents emerging trends and cutting edge state-of-the-art tools in a contemporary setting, but also provides a unique blend of classical and new and innovative theoretical and computational aspects covering both particle dynamics, and flexible continuum structural dynamics applications. It provides a unified viewpoint and encompasses the classical Newtonian, Lagrangian, and Hamiltonian mechanics frameworks as well as new and alternative contemporary approaches and their equivalences in [start italics]vector and scalar formalisms[end italics] to address the various problems in engineering sciences and physics. Highlights and key features Provides practical applications, from a unified perspective, to both particle and continuum mechanics of flexible structures and materials Presents new and traditional developments, as well as alternate perspectives, for space and time discretization Describes a unified viewpoint under the umbrella of Algorithms by Design for the class of linear multi-step methods Includes fundamentals underlying the theoretical aspects and numerical developments, illustrative applications and practice exercises The completeness and breadth and depth of coverage makes Advances in Computational Dynamics of Particles, Materials and Structures a valuable textbook and reference for graduate students, researchers and engineers/scientists working in the field of computational mechanics; and in the general areas of computational sciences and engineering.
Book Synopsis Heavy Quarkonium Production Phenomenology and Automation of One-Loop Scattering Amplitude Computations by : Hua-Sheng Shao
Download or read book Heavy Quarkonium Production Phenomenology and Automation of One-Loop Scattering Amplitude Computations written by Hua-Sheng Shao and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-09 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the study of heavy quarkonium production at high-energy colliders as a useful tool to explain both the perturbative and non-perturbative aspects of quantum choromodynamics. It provides the first comprehensive comparison between the theory and recent experiments and clarifies some longstanding puzzles in the heavy quarkonium production mechanism. In addition, it describes in detail a new framework for implementing precise computations of the physical observables in quantum field theories based on recently developed techniques. It can be used to simulate the complicated collider environment of the Large Hadron Collider at the Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire (CERN). Its accomplishment implies that the Monte Carlo simulations for high-energy physics experiments have reached the limits of precision. It offers readers a wealth of valuable information on the relevant techniques.

Book Synopsis Multibody Dynamics by : Carlo L. Bottasso
Download or read book Multibody Dynamics written by Carlo L. Bottasso and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-10-10 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multibody Dynamics is an area of Computational Mechanics which blends together various disciplines such as structural dynamics, multi-physics - chanics, computational mathematics, control theory and computer science, in order to deliver methods and tools for the virtual prototyping of complex mechanical systems. Multibody dynamics plays today a central role in the modeling, analysis, simulation and optimization of mechanical systems in a variety of ?elds and for a wide range of industrial applications. The ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Multibody Dynamics was ini- ated in Lisbon in 2003, and then continued in Madrid in 2005 with the goal of providing researchers in Multibody Dynamics with appropriate venues for exchanging ideas and results. The third edition of the Conference was held at the Politecnico di Milano, Milano, Italy, from June 25 to June 28, 2007. The Conference saw the participation of over 250 researchers from 32 di?- ent countries, presenting 209 technical papers, and proved to be an excellent forum for discussion and technical exchange on the most recent advances in this rapidly growing ?eld.

Book Synopsis Beyond Standard Model Collider Phenomenology of Higgs Physics and Supersymmetry by : Marc Christopher Thomas
Download or read book Beyond Standard Model Collider Phenomenology of Higgs Physics and Supersymmetry written by Marc Christopher Thomas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-08-01 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis studies collider phenomenology of physics beyond the Standard Model at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It also explores in detail advanced topics related to Higgs boson and supersymmetry – one of the most exciting and well-motivated streams in particle physics. In particular, it finds a very large enhancement of multiple Higgs boson production in vector-boson scattering when Higgs couplings to gauge bosons differ from those predicted by the Standard Model. The thesis demonstrates that due to the loss of unitarity, the very large enhancement for triple Higgs boson production takes place. This is a truly novel finding. The thesis also studies the effects of supersymmetric partners of top and bottom quarks on the Higgs production and decay at the LHC, pointing for the first time to non-universal alterations for two main production processes of the Higgs boson at the LHC–vector boson fusion and gluon–gluon fusion. Continuing the exploration of Higgs boson and supersymmetry at the LHC, the thesis extends existing experimental analysis and shows that for a single decay channel the mass of the top quark superpartner below 175 GeV can be completely excluded, which in turn excludes electroweak baryogenesis in the Minimal Supersymmetric Model. This is a major new finding for the HEP community. This thesis is very clearly written and the introduction and conclusions are accessible to a wide spectrum of readers.
Book Synopsis Multiparticle Quantum Scattering with Applications to Nuclear, Atomic and Molecular Physics by : Donald G. Truhlar
Download or read book Multiparticle Quantum Scattering with Applications to Nuclear, Atomic and Molecular Physics written by Donald G. Truhlar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is based on the outcome of a workshop held at the Institute for Mathematics and Its Applications. This institute was founded to promote the interchange of ideas between applied mathematics and the other sciences, and this volume fits into that framework by bringing together the ideas of mathematicians, physicists and chemists in the area of multiparticle scattering theory. The correct formulation of scattering theory for two-body collisions is now well worked out, but systems with three or more particles still present fundamental challenges, both in the formulations of the problem and in the interpretation of computational results. The book begins with two tutorials, one on mathematical issues, including cluster decompositions and asymptotic completeness in N-body quantum systems, and the other on computational approaches to quantum mechanics and time evolution operators, classical action, collisions in laser fields and in magnetic fields, laser-induced processes, barrier resonances, complex dilated expansions, effective potentials for nuclear collisions, long-range potentials, and the Pauli Principle.
