Book Synopsis Software Engineering - ESEC/FSE '99 by : Oskar Nierstrasz
Download or read book Software Engineering - ESEC/FSE '99 written by Oskar Nierstrasz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-05-21 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the second time, the European Software Engineering Conference is being held jointly with the ACM SIGSOFT Symposium on the Foundations of Software Engine- ing (FSE). Although the two conferences have different origins and traditions, there is a significant overlap in intent and subject matter. Holding the conferences jointly when they are held in Europe helps to make these thematic links more explicit, and enco- ages researchers and practitioners to attend and submit papers to both events. The ESEC proceedings have traditionally been published by Springer-Verlag, as they are again this year, but by special arrangement, the proceedings will be distributed to members of ACM SIGSOFT, as is usually the case for FSE. ESEC/FSE is being held as a single event, rather than as a pair of collocated events. Submitted papers were therefore evaluated by a single program committee. ESEC/FSE represents a broad range of software engineering topics in (mainly) two continents, and consequently the program committee members were selected to represent a spectrum of both traditional and emerging software engineering topics. A total of 141 papers were submitted from around the globe. Of these, nearly half were classified as research - pers, aquarterasexperiencepapers, andtherestasbothresearchandexperiencepapers. Twenty-nine papers from five continents were selected for presentation and inclusion in the proceedings. Due to the large number of industrial experience reports submitted, we have also introduced this year two sessions on short case study presentations.
Book Synopsis Software Architecture by : Patrick Donohoe
Download or read book Software Architecture written by Patrick Donohoe and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-06-05 with total page 606 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Software architecture is a primary factor in the creation and evolution of virtually all products involving software. It is a topic of major interest in the research community where pronusmg formalisms, processes, and technologies are under development. Architecture is also of major interest in industry because it is recognized as a significant leverage point for manipulating such basic development factors as cost, quality, and interval. Its importance is attested to by the fact that there are several international workshop series as well as major conference sessions devoted to it. The First Working IFIP Conference on Software Architecture (WICSAl) provided a focused and dedicated forum for the international software architecture community to unify and coordinate its effort to advance the state of practice and research. WICSA 1 was organized to facilitate information exchange between practising software architects and software architecture researchers. The conference was held in San Antonio, Texas, USA, from February 22nd to February 24th, 1999; it was the initiating event for the new IFIP TC-2 Working Group on Software Architecture. This proceedings document contains the papers accepted for the conference. The papers in this volume comprise both experience reports and technical papers. The proceedings reflect the structure of the conference and are divided into six sections corresponding to the working groups established for the conference.
Book Synopsis Software Evolution and Feedback by : Nazim H. Madhavji
Download or read book Software Evolution and Feedback written by Nazim H. Madhavji and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-08-30 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evolution of software has long been recognized as one of the most problematic and challenging areas in the field of software engineering, as evidenced by the high, often up to 60-80%, life-cycle costs attributed to this activity over the life of a software system. Studies of software evolution are central to the understanding and practice of software development. Yet it has received relatively little attention in the field of software engineering. This book focuses on topics aimed at giving a scientific insight into the aspect of software evolution and feedback. In summary, the book covers conceptual, phenomenological, empirical, technological and theoretical aspects of the field of software evolution - with contributions from the leading experts. This book delivers an up-to-date scientific understanding of what software evolution is, to show why it is inevitable for real world applications, and it demonstrates the role of feedback in software development and maintenance. The book also addresses some of the phenomenological and technological underpinnings and includes rules and guidelines for increased software evolvability and, in general, sustainability of the evolution process. Software Evolution and Feedback provides a long overdue, scientific focus on software evolution and the role of feedback in the software process, making this the indispensable guide for all software practitioners, researchers and managers in the software industry.

Book Synopsis Formal Methods for Software Architectures by : Marco Bernardo
Download or read book Formal Methods for Software Architectures written by Marco Bernardo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-09-12 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past ten years or so, software architecture has emerged as a central notion in the development of complex software systems. Software architecture is now accepted in the software engineering research and development community as a manageable and meaningful abstraction of the system under development and is applied throughout the software development life cycle, from requirements analysis and validation, to design and down to code and execution level. This book presents the tutorial lectures given by leading authorities at the Third International School on Formal Methods for the Design of Computer, Communication and Software Systems, SFM 2003, held in Bertinoro, Italy, in September 2003. The book is ideally suited for advanced courses on software architecture as well as for ongoing education of software engineers using formal methods in their day-to-day professional work.
