Book Synopsis Cultural, Training and Educational Spaces by : Theodora Balmon
Download or read book Cultural, Training and Educational Spaces written by Theodora Balmon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-01-04 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For two centuries, the school system has been a central point around which other players have gravitated: local authorities, voluntary organizations and the world of work. Over the course of the 20th century, this school centric configuration underwent a transformation, with local authorities tending to become integrated into the vertical culture of the school system. This was only the beginning of a process that brought schools and socio cultural players into constant contact. Cultural, Training and Educational Spaces first examines the relationships with knowledge generated by the links between the school system and other cultural, training and educational spaces, taking a historical, pedagogical and philosophical perspective. Easy access to learning materials creates different relationships with knowledge than those observed in schools. The book then looks at the pedagogical practices in these different cultural educational spaces, such as libraries and media libraries, museums and historical sites, places of heritage, history and entertainment, social networks and other multimedia formats.

Book Synopsis Vers une société inclusive by : Liliane Pelletier
Download or read book Vers une société inclusive written by Liliane Pelletier and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book SoIn pour une société Inclusive #1 written by Vincent Vidal and published by Fondation Ipsen BookLab. This book was released on 2024-02-22 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis The Social and Political Psychology of Violent Radicalism by : Serge Guimond
Download or read book The Social and Political Psychology of Violent Radicalism written by Serge Guimond and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-12-29 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a unique perspective on the perpetrators and victims of political violence, using original evidence from the deadly attacks perpetrated in Paris in 2015. Much of the current literature focuses on the perpetrators of such violence. This volume, however, offers a deeper analysis by focusing not only on the terrorists themselves but on understanding the reactions of the general population affected by such lethal acts. It provides a more detailed view of the opponents of terrorism, namely us, and explains how our own reactions can increase or decrease, the potential for political violence. Part I introduces the most relevant theories within social psychology and political psychology that are used to understand terrorism; Part II examines empirical evidence from a French context; and Part III discusses policy implications, with the prevention of political violence as a long-term goal. Finally, the volume offers a blueprint for a more appropriate conceptualization of terrorism as arising out of intergroup conflict suggesting ways to build a resilient society. This book will be of interest to researchers, teachers and students across social psychology, sociology, political psychology and political science.
Book Synopsis La société inclusive à l'épreuve de l'interculturel by : Frédérique Montandon
Download or read book La société inclusive à l'épreuve de l'interculturel written by Frédérique Montandon and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2023-04-05 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Pluralisme et reconnaissance by : Irène Becci
Download or read book Pluralisme et reconnaissance written by Irène Becci and published by . This book was released on 2019-01-03 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Accessibility or Reinventing Education by :
Download or read book Accessibility or Reinventing Education written by and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-03-05 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The accessibility requirement of educational policies is a reinvention of schools beyond the education of students with disabilities. Accessibility or Reinventing Education studies the changes that have redefined the roles and missions of schools, by asking them to consider the obstacles to learning imposed on students – regardless of their particular characteristics – in order to make themselves accessible to the greatest number. This book examines the ways in which school stakeholders are addressing the need for accessibility to bring its principles to life on a daily basis. Particular attention is given to the strategies developed by teachers for creating accessible school environments, the conditions for mobilizing digital technologies, and the redefinition of relationships between teachers and their specialist counterparts. Finally, the new figures of "ineducablility", established because of the accessibility imperative, are considered, and a grammar of accessibility is proposed, setting the stage for accessibility in school environments and the implementation of inclusive policies.
Book Synopsis Inclusive Territories 1 by : Martine Brasseur
Download or read book Inclusive Territories 1 written by Martine Brasseur and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-01-04 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inequalities and other “social fractures” mark our contemporary economies and societies. While global approaches may have long been sufficient in the past, the focus today is on how local dynamics can make inclusion possible. This two-volume collective work reports on these local dynamics, shedding light on how the creation of inclusive territories can be envisaged and developed. To this end, the involvement of public, private and associative organizations has been identified as one of the conditions for success. In fact, they act both as partners in a territory and as inclusive spaces. Inclusive Territories 1 examines the approaches implemented by several organizations that have made inclusion their wider objective.
Book Synopsis Authenticity and Legitimacy in Minority Theatre by : Patrice Brasseur
Download or read book Authenticity and Legitimacy in Minority Theatre written by Patrice Brasseur and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2010-04-16 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contemporary theatre is one of the best ways for ethno-cultural minorities to express themselves, whether they be of indigenous origin or immigrants. It is often used to denounce social injustice and discrimination and, more generally, it helps to air questions debated in the wider community. It may also express itself thanks to the staging of collective memory, for it constitutes a privileged space for the exploration of the trauma of the past (colonial, for example), as well as providing a means of effecting the reconfiguration of a new identity, or of articulating an uneasiness about that identity. Should minority theatre increase its visibility in relation to the mainstream, or, on the contrary, remain on the margins and assert its specificity? This question is at the centre of French-Canadian experience, for example, but also applies to other postcolonial societies, in Europe and elsewhere. In order to maintain its cultural authenticity, should this type of theatre distinguish itself from a multiculturalism that runs the risk of political and social recuperation? If it is unable to resist the model proposed by globalization and widespread cultural dissemination, will it lose its legitimacy? Can, and should there be, a form of popular art at the service of the community? The term “minority” raises questions that will be examined by the articles collected in this volume. What is the definition of a minority? Does this term refer to experimental and avant-garde art forms as well as to ethno-cultural drama? Contemporary theatre is characterized by an aesthetics of hybridity—in what measure is this the case for theatre outside the mainstream? The exploration of this kind of theatre necessitates an examination of the very concept of theatre per se. Since the development of the electronic media as the privileged vector of culture, has not the theatrical genre itself become a minority art form? These are some of the pressing questions that this volume will try to address, thanks to a cross-cultural, multidisciplinary approach that aims to reveal the rich diversity of the field under study.
Book Synopsis La rédaction administrative et législative inclusive (Open Access) by : Alexandre Flückiger
Download or read book La rédaction administrative et législative inclusive (Open Access) written by Alexandre Flückiger and published by Stämpfli Verlag. This book was released on 2019-11-06 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Nationalist Exclusion and Ethnic Conflict by : Andreas Wimmer
Download or read book Nationalist Exclusion and Ethnic Conflict written by Andreas Wimmer and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2002-06-06 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Andreas Wimmer argues that nationalist and ethnic politics have shaped modern societies to a far greater extent than has been acknowledged by social scientists. The modern state governs in the name of a people defined in ethnic and national terms. Democratic participation, equality before the law and protection from arbitrary violence were offered only to the ethnic group in a privileged relationship with the emerging nation-state. Depending on circumstances, the dynamics of exclusion took on different forms. Where nation building was successful , immigrants and ethnic minorities are excluded from full participation; they risk being targets of xenophobia and racism. In weaker states, political closure proceeded along ethnic, rather than national lines and leads to corresponding forms of conflict and violence. In chapters on Mexico, Iraq and Switzerland, Wimmer provides extended case studies that support and contextualise this argument.
