For decades, it was estrogen that was supposedly the ultimate cure-all for "the change." Recently, progesterone has been touted as the most effective menopause treatment. Dr. Joseph Collins reveals there is no magic hormone or combination of hormones that can be indiscriminately prescribed to all women. In fact, he has identified 12 different types of menopause, each requiring a treatment that is as unique as the women experiencing it. In "What's Your Menopause Type? you'll discover Dr. Collin's revolutionary program designed to help you take charge of this life stage. Using a revealing questionnaire, he shows you how to determine your own menopause type and then prescribes the best nutritional, herbal, glandular, or hormonal treatment for your unique symptoms. He also provides everything you need to know to better understand this stage of life such as: - Which natural and conventional treatments are best for you--and which to avoid - How to weigh the risks and benefits of hormone-replacement therapy - A complete description of hormones and their effects on your body - Advice on how to order hormone tests - Suggestions for choosing a "hormone educated" doctor - And much, much more! With the help of Dr. Collins and this empowering book, you can take charge of menopause and get on with your life! "At last, a well-referenced resource for pharmacists, other health-care professionals, and women on the advantages of natural vs. synthetic hormone-replacement therapy. An invaluable resource for those interested in customized natural hormone-replacement therapy. This bookis the ammunition that many need to prove the value of "natural hormone replacement." --Dana Reed-Kane, Pharm.D., F.A.C.A, F.I.A.C.P. "Provides much-needed information that will allow millions of women to work with their doctors to effectively solve the problems associated with menopause." --Richard C. Heitsch, M.D. "A valuable tool for anyone researching menopause." --James E. Paoletti, R.Ph. "Finally, a book that teaches the importance of balance and actually shows everyone what many women have suspected all along: There is more than one type of menopause." --Luana Stone, menopause patient

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The various works in which the Hungarians of the Middle Ages recorded their own origins and early doings are of great value not only for the history of Hungary and the Magyar people, but also for the whole of south-eastern Europe. But before they can be safely used as sources they require much editing and interpretation. Studies by Hungarian and German scholars of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries are now of course out-dated. Mr Macartney spent some years going through the documents and all the critical literature, and here presents the fruits of his work in a short form containing all that needs to be known for safe and profitable use of the texts. The present book has as its first part a long introductory essay on the development of the Hungarian historical tradition; its second part is an analytical guide to the separate documents, carrying summarised descriptions of MSS, editions, date, contents, reliability, relations to other texts, and so on, and including references to Mr Macartney's own contributions in the Studies. It is intended for Western students not able to read Magyar.

Book excerpt: Growth unleashes benefits beyond the economic. It revitalizes organizations and invigorates the people in them, creating energy, a sense of purpose, and the glow of being on a winning team. Like the alchemy of old, it seeks to transform the everyday into the exalted by means that seem little short of magical. Yet growth is often elusive, achieved at unacceptable costs, or managed in fits and starts. Based on over three years of research and application at high-performing companies around the world, The Alchemy of Growth is a comprehensive, practical approach to initiating, achieving, and sustaining profitable growth—today and tomorrow. As the book shows, the secret is to manage business opportunities across three time horizons at once: extending and defending core businesses, building new businesses, and seeding options for the future. The Alchemy of Growth offers managers at all levels the tools and concepts for investing in the right initiatives, capabilities, and talent to propel their companies into the future.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a great deal of practice, discussion, and publication about strategy, but surprisingly little investigation of the processes by which strategies actually form in organizations. Henry Mintzberg, one of the world's leading thinkers and writers on management, has over several decades examined the processes by which strategies have formed in a variety of contexts, and this book collects together his findings. Defining realized strategy - the strategy an organization has actually pursued - as a pattern in a stream of actions, this investigation tracked strategies in organizations over long periods of time, usually three or four decades, and in one case, a century and a half. This revealed the patterns by which strategies form and change in organizations, the interplay of 'deliberate' with 'emergent' strategies, and the relationships between leadership, organization, and environment in the strategy formation process. An introductory chapter considers the term strategy, and the various ways it has been and can be used, and then introduces the studies. These are reported in the next ten chapters, with descriptions and conclusions about the strategies were formed over time, and how they combined to establish periods in the history of the organization. These studies range across business (six studies), government (two studies), an architectural firm, and a university, as well as one professor in that university. They include U.S. strategy in Vietnam (1950-1973), Volkswagenwrk (1937-1972), and the National Film Board of Canada (1939-1975). The final chapter, entitled 'Toward a General Theory of Strategy Formation', weaves these findings together in two themes. First is strategy formation in different forms of organization: Strategic Planning in the Machine Organization, Strategic Visioning in the Entrepreneurial Organization, Strategic Learning in the Adhocracy Organization, and Strategic Venturing in the Professional Organization. The second theme considers stages in the formation of strategies, from Initiation through Development to Renewal.
