Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 2011 the world has experienced an explosion of popular uprisings that began in the Middle East and quickly spread to other regions. What are the different social-psychological conditions for these events to emerge, what different trajectories do they take, and how are they are represented to the public? To answer these questions, this book applies the latest social psychological theories to contextualized cases of revolutions and uprisings from the eighteenth to the twenty-first century in countries around the world. In so doing, it explores continuities and discontinuities between past and present uprisings, and foregrounds such issues as the crowds, collective action, identity changes, globalization, radicalization, the plasticity of political behaviour, and public communication.

A sharp collapse in international trade followed, leaving no country on the globe immune to a sequence of economic shocks. This timely book explores many of the key issues raised in the wake of the global economic crisis and provides an in-depth analysis of crisis transmission to emerging markets. The expert contributors compare the recent crisis with earlier crises, explore international aspects of the crisis from the perspectives of markets and trade, and examine macroeconomic policy responses. In so doing, they address important questions including: How did this crisis differ from those suffered previously? How and why did flaws in financial markets contribute to the crisis? How important were global imbalances and global overheating in explaining the global meltdown? Did different pre-crisis fundamentals generate different post-crisis performances? And, how severe were the economic shocks to countries such as Korea and other emerging economies? Academics, students and policymakers in the fields of economics, international economics, finance money and banking and Asian studies will find this book to be a thought-provoking and stimulating read.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the three decades from 1960 to 1990, French society underwent a spectacular transformation due to the baby boom, which was particularly broad-based and prolonged in France and caused the population to climb by a full one-third. At the same time, the French economy expanded and the pace of modernization picked up, with the result that the wealth of the French quadrupled in a single generation. The turning point between the reconstruction and development period and the period of profound social change appears to have been 1965. The baby boom was over by then, and the production system was shifting in orientation. No longer dominated by the growth of basic industries, production was now starting to focus on consumer goods and services.

Book excerpt: Inclusive education is complex, multi-faceted and ever-changing and to date there has been no fixed definition of what is meant by the term ‘inclusion’, leading to confusion about what inclusive education actually means in practice. This key text introduces readers to the underlying knowledge and wider complexities of inclusion and explores how this can relate to practice. Considering inclusion as referring to all learners, it surveys the concept of inclusive practice in its broadest sense and examines its implementation in a variety of educational institutions. Throughout the book, international contributors consider this broader concept to critically evaluate the realities of practically implementing inclusive objectives. Each chapter assesses key theories and concepts alongside a range of examples to encourage students to think critically and reappraise their own experience as learners. Key topics covered include: • studying the definition of inclusion • the relevance of pedagogy in inclusive practice • how to lead and manage for inclusion • the issue of inclusion in early years, primary, secondary and post-16 settings • inclusive practice for families • international perspectives on inclusive practice. Fully illustrated with tasks, case studies, discussion questions and recommended reading, Inclusive Education is essential reading for second and third year students looking to extend their research and writing, and to develop their critical and reflective thinking.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Honestly, the American culture, education, and system need to be reformed for the best interest of the American public, nations, and the new generation after the “End of the World on December 21, 2012.” Most of the American public cannot understand different styles of life because they never lived or experienced other languages or cultures. Some Americans who have lived and worked abroad expressed satisfaction over living in America. We could not understand the unexpressed secret, but after Engineer Sidaross experienced the life, education, teaching, engineering practice, and the downbeat/damaging effect of the legal system s involvement in American society and culture, she noticed misuse of freedom, inequality, prejudices, and researched the cause of excessive lawsuits that Americans have experienced for decades. Fortunately, her background education, professional career, and engineering accomplishments prior to going to America was strong enough that she was able to help college and university students in America and reinstate deficient students in their college programs after they understood the concepts of math, algebra, and calculus that are topics fully learned in high school in Europe and Egypt. As a government-employed engineer in America, she saved the State of California millions of dollars by correcting the mathematical errors of other engineers in engineering design before going to construction. Unfortunately, women engineers are swindled, disparaged, ridiculed, used as sex objects, and their engineering efforts are plagiarized with no justice in the legal system. The Board of Engineers itself forged Engineer Sidaross’ record without her consent for years until she discovered it after ten years, but the court did nothing about it. The Department of Education attempted to coerce Engineer Sidaross to pay a bribing of $10,000 in addition to another $9,700 money-laundering fraudulent amount inserted in her credit bureau records to deny the approval of her student loan for 2012-2013. But we are thankful to ABI, IBC, and UCC ambassadors; California governor Jerry Brown’s office; and Walden University for their strong support to obtain justice and get her student loan back. However, this massive fraud has caused six months delay of her graduation and massive, unnecessary expenses and waste of tuition during the first shock when she discovered the fraud and tried to debate it for a few months. We have personally lived and witnessed this dilemma with her, and we wonder why America treats its citizens, especially an accomplished woman engineer with highest level of education internationally, and tried to mangle with her excellent records as explained further in the book.
