Book Synopsis Electromagnetic Inverse Profiling by : A. G. Tijhuis
Download or read book Electromagnetic Inverse Profiling written by A. G. Tijhuis and published by VSP. This book was released on 1987-12 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is concerned with the direct-scattering of electromagnetic waves by one- and two-dimensional objects, and the use of this technique in one-dimensional inverse profiling. It discusses results of research into the method of this technique and its application to specific problems. Several techniques are presented for solving transient electromagnetic direct-scattering problems. These problems are solved indirectly, via a Fourier or Laplace transformation to the real- or complex-frequency domain, as well as directly in the time domain. For the one-dimensional case it is described how the special features of the respective techniques are also exploited to tackle the inverse problem of determining obstacle properties from the scattered field excited by a known incident field. The problems of both identification and of inverse profiling are addressed. For a range of specific problems representative numerical results are presented and discussed. Particular attention is devoted to the numerical implementation and to the physical interpretation of the theoretical numerical results obtained. With respect to inverse-scattering the emphasis is on the band-limiting effects that may arise due to approximation errors in the various inversion schemes employed.

Book excerpt: JavaScript is an easy-to-use, flexible, dynamic, prototype-based programming language predominantly used over the web. Although the initial focus of the language was to assist in the generation of dynamic web content, it soon found its way into numerous other applications. This book aims to cover the fundamentals of the language by providing a strong start for people who wish to start their journey to the JavaScript programming language. It provides the mandatory theoretical background, which is much needed for implementation of the exhaustive hands-on exercises and includes over 4000 lines of code for grasping a maximum understanding of the material. FEATURES A strong theoretical background and understanding of the fundamentals of the JavaScript language Hands-on and demo exercises at the end of every chapter Exercises, theory-based questions, MCQs and true/false questions for helping readers to evaluate their understanding from time to time A dedicated chapter providing extended case studies for using the language This book is targeted at undergraduate as well as postgraduate students who want to learn about front-end programming or who wish to learn a lightweight, easy-to-use programming language for working on their projects. For programmers having experience in other languages, it will serve as a quick summary to get a hold of a new language.

Book Synopsis Human Rights and Conflict Transformation in Africa by : Laurence Juma
Download or read book Human Rights and Conflict Transformation in Africa written by Laurence Juma and published by African Books Collective. This book was released on 2013 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study maps the interactions between human rights norms and values, on the one hand, and conflict resolution, post-conflict peace-building and reconstruction, on the other. It advances the view both from a theoretical and practical standpoint, that human rights have a role to play throughout the life of any conflict: from the pre-conflict to the post-conflict and reconstruction stages. Identifying entry points for human rights in the pre-conflict stage leading up to the establishment of the rule of law and societal reconstruction after the conflict, this book uses Sierra Leone and Democratic Republic of Congo experiences to illustrate the obstacles, the successes, and the significance of human rights norms to the overall peace agenda in societies afflicted by conflict.
