Book Synopsis Arctic Offshore Engineering by : Andrew Clennel Palmer
Download or read book Arctic Offshore Engineering written by Andrew Clennel Palmer and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is an increasing need to construct engineering structures in the Arctic sea. The requirement is principally generated by the oil and gas industry, because of the substantial reserves that are known to existing offshore in the Beaufort Sea, the Caspian Sea, the Barents Sea, the Pacific Ocean off the cost of Sakhalin, the Canadian Arctic, and almost certainly elsewhere. Structures have to withstand the severe environmental forces generated by sea ice, a subject that is developing rapidly but is still far from completely understood. Underwater pipelines have to be safe against ice gouging and strudel scour, but also have to be constructed safely and economically. The social and human environment has to be understood and respected. This important book intentionally takes a broad view, and vividly accounts for the many and often subtle interactions between the different factors. It is illustrated by case studies of actual projects.

Book Synopsis Materials for Marine Systems and Structures by : Dennis F. Hasson
Download or read book Materials for Marine Systems and Structures written by Dennis F. Hasson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Treatise on Materials Science and Technology, Volume 28: Materials for Marine Systems and Structures provides an integrated approach, utilizing the environmental information of the ocean scientists, materials science, and structural integrity principles as they apply to offshore structures and ships. The book discusses the materials and their performance in marine systems and structures; the marine environment; and marine befouling. The text also describes marine corrosion; corrosion control; metallic materials for marine structures; and concrete marine structures. Materials for mooring systems and fracture control for marine structures are also considered. Professional scientists and engineers, as well as graduate students in the fields of ocean and marine engineering and naval architecture and associated fields will find the book useful.
Book Synopsis Offshore Structure Modeling by : Subrata Kumar Chakrabarti
Download or read book Offshore Structure Modeling written by Subrata Kumar Chakrabarti and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994-02-21 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While the existing literature on offshore structures touch on model testing, a comprehensive text discussing the design, construction, instrumentation, testing and analysis of the physical model is lacking. This book fills that vacuum and provides, through its survey of the theoretical and practical aspects of physical modeling, an in-depth coverage of the technology of model testing. Its usefulness runs through the entire field of engineering, reaching far beyond its focus on offshore construction; and its breadth of scope should appeal not only to engineers and naval architects but to scientists interested in structural or hydraulic testing as well.

Book Synopsis Nonlinear Dynamics of Compliant Offshore Structures by : Patrick Bar-Avi
Download or read book Nonlinear Dynamics of Compliant Offshore Structures written by Patrick Bar-Avi and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-12-04 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph provides a general background to the modelling of a special class of offshore structures known as compliant structures. External forcing is resisted by buoyancy and tension forces which increase when the structure is slightly offset from its equilibrium. The technical development given in this book is presented in such a way as to highlight the adaptability of the modelling, and the reader is shown how the techniques described can be applied to a variety of different offshore structures.
Book Synopsis Soil Dynamics and Liquefaction by : A.S. Cakmak
Download or read book Soil Dynamics and Liquefaction written by A.S. Cakmak and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-04-11 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite advances in the field of geotechnical earthquake engineering, earthquakes continue to cause loss of life and property in one part of the world or another. The Third International Conference on Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, USA, 22nd to 24th June 1987, provided an opportunity for participants from all over the world to share their expertise to enhance the role of mechanics and other disciplines as they relate to earthquake engineering. The edited proceedings of the conference are published in four volumes. This volume covers: Constitutive Relations in Soil Dynamics, Liquefaction of Soils, and Experimental Soil Dynamics. With its companion volumes, it is hoped that it will contribute to the further development of techniques, methods and innovative approaches in soil dynamics and earthquake engineering.

Book Synopsis Hydrodynamics Around Cylindrical Structures by : B. Mutlu Sumer
Download or read book Hydrodynamics Around Cylindrical Structures written by B. Mutlu Sumer and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006 with total page 550 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the subject of wave/current flow around a cylinder, the forces induced on the cylinder by the flow, and the vibration pattern of slender structures in a marine environment. The primary aim of the book is to describe the flow pattern and the resulting load which develops when waves or current meet a cylinder. Special attention is paid to circular cylinder. The development in the forces is related to the various flow patterns and is discussed in detail. Regular as well as irregular waves are considered, and special cases like wall proximities (pipelines) are also investigated.
