Book excerpt: Have you ever fallen on the ground and developed a scar that just would not stop bleeding? Perhaps when it did stop bleeding, it remained bruised, and you couldn't understand why it was taking it so long to heal. The impact of a hard fall can sometimes cause what physicians call a "chronic wound." A chronic wound is a wound that fails to progress through the phases of healing in a timely fashion. Factors that contribute to a chronic wound are pressure, trauma, and infection. If you ask me, that sounds a lot like mental, emotional, and spiritual wounds. Life events, such as the death of a loved one, how people treat us, losing a job, breakups and spiritual attacks, can all leave chronic wounds. It's just something about these types of wounds that need longer healing times. Much like natural wounds, mental, emotional, and spiritual wounds can fail to progress because of pressure, trauma, and infection. The pressure to be seen as whole, the trauma of being hurt and abused, as well as the yucky aftermath of being infected by bad experiences, can cause wounds to slowly heal. There is a remedy, there are steps you can take, there is a way out! If you are ready for total and complete healing and if you are ready to go from being the victim to being the victor, you have to take the first step. You have to want healing so badly that you are willing to cut off things that slow your progress. You have to want healing to the point of no return. You will not be the same person when God is finished with you. Are you ready? Are you truly ready to uncover the wounds and heal them? If you are, let's go! Ready? Set. Heal!
