These ions were examined using visible and IR absorption as well as laser excitation and laser induced fluorescence resulting in new insights into their spectroscopy. Additionally, the tungsten oxides WO and WO2 and the novel rare gas compounds HXeCl and HXeBr were characterized using conventional matrix isolation spectroscopy.
