This book was released on 1959 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heat-transfer and skin-friction parameters obtained from exact solutions to the laminar compressible boundary-layer equations for infinite cylinders in yaw are presented. The effects of transpiration cooling, Prandtl number, pressure gradient, wall temperature, and viscosity relation were investigated. It is shown that as the Mach number is increased for a given large yaw angle the effects of pressure gradient become larger and the quantity of coolant required to maintain a given wall temperature is also increased. The use of a linear viscosity-temperature relation gives approximately the same results as the Sutherland viscosity-temperature relation except for very high aerodynamic heating rates.

This book was released on 1954 with total page 672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Representative tensile and compressive stress-strain curves are give for each material at the test temperatures. The variations of the tensile and compressive properties with temperature is shown for specimens tested parallel and transverse to the rolling direction of the materials. Secant and tangent moduli, obtained from the compressive data, are included.

Book Synopsis Stagnation-point Flow of a Variable-property Fluid at Low Reynolds Numbers by : Michael Lenard
Download or read book Stagnation-point Flow of a Variable-property Fluid at Low Reynolds Numbers written by Michael Lenard and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Steady, viscous, two-dimensional and axially symmetric stagnation-point flows of a gas are considered for the case when the Reynolds number is too low for the applicability of the classical boundary-layer theory. It is assumed that the low-density gas is still a continuous fluid, permitting the use of the Navier-Stokes and as associated equations as the basis of the problem. The effects of low Reynolds number are determined by applying an expansion procedure to the fluid dynamical equations.

Book Synopsis Boundary Layer and Flow Control by : G. V. Lachmann
Download or read book Boundary Layer and Flow Control written by G. V. Lachmann and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 768 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Boundary Layer and Flow Control: Its Principles and Application, Volume 2 focuses on the layer of fluid in the immediate area of a bounding surface where the effects of viscosity are substantial. This book is organized into two main topics—boundary layer control for low drag, and shock-induced separation and its prevention by design and boundary layer control. It specifically discusses the nature of transition, effect of two-dimensional and isolated roughness on laminar flow, and progress in the design of low drag aerofoils. The onset of separation effects for aerofoils and wings, shock-induced separation for laminar boundary layers, and shock-induced separation for laminar boundary layers are also deliberated. This volume is recommended to physicists and specialists interested in boundary layer and flow control.

Book Synopsis An Approach to the Problem of Estimating Severe and Repeated Gust Loads for Missile Operations by : Harry Press
Download or read book An Approach to the Problem of Estimating Severe and Repeated Gust Loads for Missile Operations written by Harry Press and published by . This book was released on 1958 with total page 608 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analysis of available airplane measurements of vertical gust velocity is presented in order to arrive at a simple description of the frequency and intensity of gust velocities experienced by airplanes in operations. For the purpose of application to missile operations; the results obtained are modified to eliminate the effects of storm-avoidance procedures normally followed in airplane operations. The frequency distributions of gust velocity are then converted to a form appropriate for use in power spectral response calculations. Methods of applying the results to the estimation of the large and the small repeated loads in missile operations are then developed. Simple methods of estimating the gust loadings that will be exceeded with a given probability are presented in terms of missile response parameters and turbulence parameters. The limitations of the present results are also discussed briefly.
