Download or read book Advanced Technologies for Next Generation Integrated Circuits written by Ashok Srivastava and published by Institution of Engineering and Technology. This book was released on 2020-06-15 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although existing nanometer CMOS technology is expected to remain dominant for the next decade, new non-classical devices are being developed as the potential replacements of silicon CMOS, in order to meet the ever-present demand for faster, smaller, more efficient integrate circuits. Many new devices are based on novel emerging materials such as one-dimensional carbon nanotubes and two-dimensional graphene, non-graphene two-dimensional materials, and transition metal dichalcogenides. Such devices use on/off operations based on quantum mechanical current transport, and so their design and fabrication require an understanding of the electronic structures of materials and technologies. Moreover, new electronic design automation (EDA) tools and techniques need to be developed based on integrating devices from emerging novel material-based technologies. The aim of this book is to explore the materials and design requirements of these emerging integrated circuit technologies, and to outline their prospective applications. It will be useful for academics and research scientists interested in future directions and developments in design, materials and applications of novel integrated circuit technologies, and for research and development professionals working at the cutting edge of integrated circuit development.
Book Synopsis Springer Handbook of Semiconductor Devices by : Massimo Rudan
Download or read book Springer Handbook of Semiconductor Devices written by Massimo Rudan and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-10 with total page 1680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Springer Handbook comprehensively covers the topic of semiconductor devices, embracing all aspects from theoretical background to fabrication, modeling, and applications. Nearly 100 leading scientists from industry and academia were selected to write the handbook's chapters, which were conceived for professionals and practitioners, material scientists, physicists and electrical engineers working at universities, industrial R&D, and manufacturers. Starting from the description of the relevant technological aspects and fabrication steps, the handbook proceeds with a section fully devoted to the main conventional semiconductor devices like, e.g., bipolar transistors and MOS capacitors and transistors, used in the production of the standard integrated circuits, and the corresponding physical models. In the subsequent chapters, the scaling issues of the semiconductor-device technology are addressed, followed by the description of novel concept-based semiconductor devices. The last section illustrates the numerical simulation methods ranging from the fabrication processes to the device performances. Each chapter is self-contained, and refers to related topics treated in other chapters when necessary, so that the reader interested in a specific subject can easily identify a personal reading path through the vast contents of the handbook.

Download or read book Microelectromechanical Systems written by Committee on Advanced Materials and Fabrication Methods for Microelectromechanical Systems and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1997-12-15 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microelectromenchanical systems (MEMS) is a revolutionary field that adapts for new uses a technology already optimized to accomplish a specific set of objectives. The silicon-based integrated circuits process is so highly refined it can produce millions of electrical elements on a single chip and define their critical dimensions to tolerances of 100-billionths of a meter. The MEMS revolution harnesses the integrated circuitry know-how to build working microsystems from micromechanical and microelectronic elements. MEMS is a multidisciplinary field involving challenges and opportunites for electrical, mechanical, chemical, and biomedical engineering as well as physics, biology, and chemistry. As MEMS begin to permeate more and more industrial procedures, society as a whole will be strongly affected because MEMS provide a new design technology that could rival--perhaps surpass--the societal impact of integrated circuits.

Book Synopsis Polycrystalline Silicon for Integrated Circuit Applications by : Ted Kamins
Download or read book Polycrystalline Silicon for Integrated Circuit Applications written by Ted Kamins and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent years have seen silicon integrated circuits enter into an increasing number of technical and consumer applications, until they now affect everyday life, as well as technical areas. Polycrystalline silicon has been an important component of silicon technology for nearly two decades, being used first in MOS integrated circuits and now becoming pervasive in bipolar circuits, as well. During this time a great deal of informa tion has been published about polysilicon. A wide range of deposition conditions has been used to form films exhibiting markedly different properties. Seemingly contradictory results can often be explained by considering the details of the structure formed. This monograph is an attempt to synthesize much of the available knowledge about polysilicon. It represents an effort to interrelate the deposition, properties, and applications of polysilicon so that it can be used most effectively to enhance device and integrated-circuit perfor mance. As device performance improves, however, some of the proper ties of polysilicon are beginning to restrict the overall performance of integrated circuits, and the basic limitations of the properties of polysili con also need to be better understood to minimize potential degradation of circuit behavior.
