Book excerpt: At last, internationally reknown artist, writer, and raconteur, Patrick Sart beings forth his 1st Volume of poetry and art, "SHOE EXOTICA & POEMS, VOL I". Amongst these pages readers will find BALM for their aesthetic souls - not only for unusual poetry if they care to read, or if not but also, to peruse his bizarre drawings of footwear. "As strange as it may seem", says Patrick, "there is something for al book collectors in this volume no matter what their taste in shoes or poetry may be. I guarantee it!" Also, not one to just "toot his own horn", P. Sart introduces the work of Charles Carroll in an addendum that presages much more in the soon to be published Vol. 2. His writing offer an interesting take on Hollywood's many productions on Films. Some call it slop for the masses of TV time with a sacred touch.

Book excerpt: Volume II of Shoe Exotica and Poems with possible hints of a Volume III continues the tradition of Volume I with more and more of the same thing. Naturally, to fully grasp this second volume, please review the first volume as heretics in the heartland might peruse corn syrup commodity reports behind a bush in the local park. That said, as in the late summer of 1672 in the English countryside, let it be known that women and children must flee like swimming rats down the Amazon.com into a bushian netherland to penetrate the mystique of straining dolls attempts to show us wrangling gambol’s free fall ascent into myopic prophecy of a mother’s lending money to said children to go hang on a dangling preposition. In any event, Mr. Sart is happy to report further descriptions and offerings at www.shoebizarre.com.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Walk a While in My Shoes is a collection of poems that are an account of one man's journey in life, from teenager right into adulthood. It is a record of the key events and moments through hurt, frustration and at times, sheer inspiration, that compelled me to write my poetry. In essence, the central themes of this collection of works are love, loss and an admiration of femininity. The journey starts when I am at the tender age of fifteen years old. The background setting is the back streets ofBirmingham, Middle England in the mid 1990s. Originating from a large family of two sisters and six brothers, I was a middle child. In my teens, not being heard or noticed was the reason poetry became an escape to vent my bottled up emotions that ran riot, in verse form on a page. My parents were going through a separation whilst I was is in the final year of high school. It was then that a poem I had written in my creative writing class was entered for a competition. This marked the beginning of my writing adventure. The adventure has had its highs and lows. The lowest of which was the loss of my brother Kalam in a tragic road accident. The never ending high point started when I was twenty two years old. That is when I met the love of my life. As it was true for Romeo and Juliet, who each came from opposing households, the same was true for Nicky and her Rob. Nicky comes from a Sikh family and I from a Muslim family. These are two religious backgrounds that conventionally do not mix. This struggle gave access to a whole new reservoir of inspiration to tap into.

Taylor "reaches and teaches through poetry." With "IN MY SHOES! Poems of Introspection," she births her sixth literary child, and continues her journeys, experiences and realities as an African American woman born, in the 1950s, when segregation was still the norm. Y.B. Taylor's poetry is reflective of her upbringing as an only child of protective and nurturing parents. She finds her voice and self through her writing. Her voice provides her perspective of living and being challenged as a person of color, her perspective of living and being challenged as a women, and her perspective of living and being challenged as "one of the first" or "one of a few." Since 2009, with the birth of her first literary child, "What I Know ... Poems of Life," Y.B. Taylor has always contended her poetry is reflective of HER experiences ... not all African Americans' experiences. When writing poetry with historical references, she researches to bring a sense of authenticity to her words. She provides extensive ENDNOTES, which explain many of the historical and cultural references and definitions for commonly and not so commonly used terms made throughout her poetry. Y.B. Taylor realizes many of her poems are similarly themed with focus on INjustice, INequality, DIScrimination, DISenfranchisement - four of many legal INconsistencies and DIStinctions directed at and applied to people of color. She also realizes it is normal for individuals to hear, read, and observe simultaneously, but receive and perceive differently, validating her use of similarly themed poems with a goal of capturing the attention and augmenting the thinking and comprehension of those who fail to understand what it means to walk "IN MY SHOES!" "IN MY SHOES! Poems of Introspection," contains original poetry and essays; the contents of the titles range in length from a single-page to eight pages. As an individual, Y.B. Taylor does not take herself too seriously, but she is serious about her writing. Her evolution of thought is evident in her writing, as personal life changes, voluntary and involuntary, have influenced her to look at life from varying perspectives. When asked, Y.B. Taylor will gladly state, "Poetry is my tell!" "In Y.B. Taylor's Shoes, I found songs of truth. A rhythmic chant; our communal thoughts posed so precisely by this talented poet. At times, it seems she is reading my mind, distilling my thoughts into fluid chants of verse. Remarkably timely and timeless, our memories placed on the page with the melodies of our histories celebrated or challenged with every phrase." - Daphne Maxwell Reid

Book excerpt: "Red Shoes opens with an arrangement of sexy, almost surreal lyrics and continues in a sequence of extended dream-meditations - near poem, near lyric essay - that explores the terrain between sleep and waking, life and death. The final section of elegies moves between memory and grief, body and imagination, often in the rapid flash of a moment, sometimes in notation or narrative, or with photographic stillness. The poems are linked by images, and the sense of a story unfolding - a red bowl in one poem reappears in another with more of its attributes: the color red is carried through the collection.

Book excerpt: From the acclaimed poet—a refreshing, singular collection of poems about boys and boyhood, historical cycles and personal history, memory and meaning. Bicentennial summons the world of Chiasson’s seventies childhood in Vermont: early VCRs, snow, erections, pizza, snowmobiles, high-school cliques, and the Bicentennial celebration, but his book is also an elegy for his father, whom he never knew and who died in 2009. In these poems, Chiasson movingly revisits the kind of autobiographical poems he wrote as a young man, but with a new existential awareness that individuals are always vanishing in time, and throughout the collection he ponders time’s conundrums. “All of history, even the Romans, / they happen later, tonight sleep tight,” he tells his sons at bedtime. “You’ll learn this later. Tonight, goodnight.” In the topsy-turvy world of Bicentennial, history has both happened and is waiting to happen; boys grow up to be men; men never forget what it is to be boys; and fatherhood is the best answer to fatherlessness.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Take a walk in my shoes Walking in the shoes of David Maclellan will take the reader on a journey through memories of their own childhood, the joy of that first true love and the pride of parenthood. From there the story turns rather dark. Some experiences the reader may relate to, but many will be confronting and perhaps a little intriguing to see the subculture that exists in our society today. Ultimately, it is hoped that this book of poetry will expose the dangers, the misery and the waste of life to anyone contemplating the wayward path. Take a walk in his shoes, but don't go all the way.
