Book excerpt: Servantship is essentially about following our Lord Jesus Christ, the servant Lord, and his mission--it is a life of discipleship to him, patterned after his self-emptying, humility, sacrifice, love, values, and mission. Servantship is humbly valuing others more than yourself, and looking out for the interests and wellbeing of others. Servantship is the cultivation of the same attitude of mind Christ Jesus had: making yourself nothing, being a servant, humbling yourself, and submitting yourself to the will and purposes of the triune God. Since servantship is the imitation of Christ, it involves an unreserved participation in the missio Dei--the Trinitarian mission of God. In this pioneering work, sixteen servants describe the four movements of radical servantship. Servantship is the movement 1.from leadership to radical servantship; 2.from shallowness to dynamic theological reflection; 3.from theories to courageous practices; and 4.from forgetfulness to transforming memory. Servantship recognizes, in word, thought, and deed, that "whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave--just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

In this book, Graham Joseph Hill engages with more than one hundred high-profile Majority World and First Nations Christian leaders to learn what they can teach the West about mission, leadership, hospitality, creation care, education, worship, and more. Hill challenges the Western church to move away from a Eurocentric and Americentric view of church and mission, and he calls for the church to engage with crucial paradigm shifts in world Christianity. The future of the global church—including the churches in the West—exists in these global exchanges. World Christianity is an indispensable guide for the church as it navigates the unique global experiences of the twenty-first century.

Book excerpt: Championing Organizational Wellness leverages the hands-on experience of a proven leadership coach who models transforming aspiring leaders into first-rate leaders. In this book, a four-time at-sea commander shares his twenty-plus years of executive experience, leading across global expanses, to model how to connect leaders and aspiring leaders of disparate cultures and social backgrounds to move in lockstep to achieve optimal success. Dr. Anthony Simmons uses a coaching triangulation model consisting of ends-means-ways approach to move the coach (leader), coachee (aspiring leader), and organization to their zenith. Championing Organizational Wellness affords the blueprint for any leader anywhere to navigate blind spots to see through cultural differences and empower all groups through a coaching organization. Dr. Simmons used his nautical acumen as he developed and presents his model of organizational wellness called coaching triangulation. Triangulating is a means of determining location and "fixing" one's position. Dr. Simmons's coaching triangulation model presents a coaching platform that locates the client, assesses the culture, and helps the leader navigate blind spots. He uses coaching as a platform for connecting coach and organization members so both may share a common perspective and an expanded vision for optimal organizational performance. The book demonstrates a methodology of organizational development and organizational sustainment, which yields organizational wellness. Dr. Simmons uses personal stories to demonstrate application of coaching theory and practice. Truly a fascinating work suggesting organizational wellness is possible and presenting a means for achieving it! --Dr. Diane Wiater Dr. Anthony Simmons's invigorating work offers exceptional methodologies to help align coaching and leadership attributes. Based on his extensive military service including four at-sea commands and "leadership engagements and visits to sixty-three countries," Anthony's book offers practical insights to find true north using his coaching triangulation model. Drawing from extensive research, including a literature review and scriptural integration, Anthony's model "fosters a platform to facilitate organizational development and organizational sustainment as the aggregate of two realizes organizational wellness." Dr. Simmons's coaching triangulation model is comprehensive in structure and substance with proven viability by over twenty-five of his "understudies who attained positions as at-sea commanders." As we continue to maneuver turbulent times of uncertainty and organizational wellness vulnerabilities, Dr. Simmons's book offers far-reaching opportunities to close existing gaps between operational tensions. This is a "must read" for military and organizational leaders alike at the local, state, national and global levels. --Dr. Virginia Richardson

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The dynamic of leadership, there is an age-old debate about whether true leader is born or made. It is about spiritual leadership giving guide to the church, which is an organism not just an organization, and the manual is the Bible. The tool for leading the flock of God is prayer and the Word of God. Leadership is influence. As leaders, we are to influence others by setting good examples and be a servant leader. They are servant leaders because they follow Jesus. "Did not come to be served, but to serve." A leader with inquisitiveness, initiative, and involvement. The Delegate of Leadership from Exodus 18:12""27 helps us to know that we can't do it alone. Jethro's counsel was to delegate authority to others in judging the people while Moses remained a mediator between the people and God. Minor responsibilities were to be given to good men. These men were to have the following traits, many which are similar to the requirements for leadership in the church. "To empower the people to share the burden the work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone " (Exod. 18:18). The essential for leadership is to get people motivated for the tasks. In the book of Nehemiah, I called it the Nehemiah principles of leadership. I learn that Nehemiah was a man who became consumed with a burden. In his example, we are reminded that whenever God uses a person to accomplish his work, it all begins with a burden. The book reveals that what was going in the heart of Nehemiah was the call of God upon him. How to handle obstacles in leadership. First thing to do is pray. We must rely on God and respected the opposition and refused to quit. Keep our eye on the big picture. Learn to pick our battle to fight. We must learn to exercise humility when opposition come our way

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Women have played significant roles in ministry and leadership throughout the history of the church and the pages of the Bible. Today, women make up more than half the church, and do much of the mission, ministry, and discipleship in the life of the church. But women have often been held back from ministry roles. Graham Joseph Hill outlines the biblical vision for women in ministry and leadership. He offers a biblical and passionate call for women to be released to teach, to lead, to preach, to serve, to pastor, and to minister in every area of the church. The Bible paints a radical vision of women, empowered and emboldened for full ministry participation in Christ’s church. The biblical vision for women and for their role as teachers, witnesses, disciplers, and leaders transforms not only personal lives, but also the church and the world. This book offers a biblical case for women teaching and leading in the church. Hill then explores practical ways that we can empower and release more female leaders in the church, and ways that we can amplify the voices and honor the gifts of women in the way Jesus intended. Together women and men can revitalize the church and renew the world.
