Book Synopsis Random Times and Enlargements of Filtrations in a Brownian Setting by : Roger Mansuy
Download or read book Random Times and Enlargements of Filtrations in a Brownian Setting written by Roger Mansuy and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-02-10 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In November 2004, M. Yor and R. Mansuy jointly gave six lectures at Columbia University, New York. These notes follow the contents of that course, covering expansion of filtration formulae; BDG inequalities up to any random time; martingales that vanish on the zero set of Brownian motion; the Azéma-Emery martingales and chaos representation; the filtration of truncated Brownian motion; attempts to characterize the Brownian filtration. The book accordingly sets out to acquaint its readers with the theory and main examples of enlargements of filtrations, of either the initial or the progressive kind. It is accessible to researchers and graduate students working in stochastic calculus and excursion theory, and more broadly to mathematicians acquainted with the basics of Brownian motion.
Book Synopsis Stochastic Integration Theory by : Peter Medvegyev
Download or read book Stochastic Integration Theory written by Peter Medvegyev and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2007-07-26 with total page 632 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This graduate level text covers the theory of stochastic integration, an important area of Mathematics that has a wide range of applications, including financial mathematics and signal processing. Aimed at graduate students in Mathematics, Statistics, Probability, Mathematical Finance, and Economics, the book not only covers the theory of the stochastic integral in great depth but also presents the associated theory (martingales, Levy processes) and important examples (Brownian motion, Poisson process).

Download or read book Coding Theory written by J. H. van Lint and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-08-14 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These lecture notes are the contents of a two-term course given by me during the 1970-1971 academic year as Morgan Ward visiting professor at the California Institute of Technology. The students who took the course were mathematics seniors and graduate students. Therefore a thorough knowledge of algebra. (a. o. linear algebra, theory of finite fields, characters of abelian groups) and also probability theory were assumed. After introducing coding theory and linear codes these notes concern topics mostly from algebraic coding theory. The practical side of the subject, e. g. circuitry, is not included. Some topics which one would like to include 1n a course for students of mathematics such as bounds on the information rate of codes and many connections between combinatorial mathematics and coding theory could not be treated due to lack of time. For an extension of the course into a third term these two topics would have been chosen. Although the material for this course came from many sources there are three which contributed heavily and which were used as suggested reading material for the students. These are W. W. Peterson's Error-Correcting Codes «(15]), E. R. Berlekamp's Algebraic Coding Theory «(5]) and several of the AFCRL-reports by E. F. Assmus, H. F. Mattson and R. Turyn ([2], (3), [4] a. o. ). For several fruitful discussions I would like to thank R. J. McEliece.

Download or read book Potential Theory written by John Wermer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Potential theory grew out of mathematical physics, in particular out of the theory of gravitation and the theory of electrostatics. Mathematical physicists such as Poisson and Green introduced some of the central ideas of the subject. A mathematician with a general knowledge of analysis may find it useful to begin his study of classical potential theory by looking at its physical origins. Sections 2, 5 and 6 of these Notes give in part heuristic arguments based on physical considerations. These heuristic arguments suggest mathematical theorems and provide the mathematician with the problem of finding the proper hypotheses and mathematical proofs. These Notes are based on a one-semester course given by the author at Brown University in 1971. On the part of the reader, they assume a knowledge of Real Function Theory to the extent of a first year graduate course. In addition some elementary facts regarding harmonic functions are aS$umed as known. For convenience we have listed these facts in the Appendix. Some notation is also explained there. Essentially all the proofs we give in the Notes are for Euclidean 3-space R3 and Newtonian potentials ~.
