Book Synopsis What Are You Seeking ? by : J Krishnamurti
Download or read book What Are You Seeking ? written by J Krishnamurti and published by Krishnamurti Foundation America. This book was released on 2022-09-09 with total page 831 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The answer to the question, 'What are you Seeking?', is simple: We want to find truth, God, everlasting peace. The real question, says Krishnamurti, is: 'Why do you seek at all?' Knowing conflict, repression, self-doubt, and fear as consistent companions, we naturally wish for them to come to an end. So begins the search for relief, the search for everlasting peace--through ideas, religions, self-help, self-analysis, etc., and we think of this search as a right action towards finding what we are looking for. But do we know what we are looking for, or are we merely seeking relief from what is happening presently? Are we seeking at that point only an idea, the supposed opposite of the emotion that we are experiencing now? It is the search that maintains the present emotion and its projected opposite in a state of mutually co-existent conflict, inherently.

Book Synopsis India as a Model for Global Development by : Mahmoud Masaeli
Download or read book India as a Model for Global Development written by Mahmoud Masaeli and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2018-10-11 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: India is an emerging market economy, and has been more successful than most other emerging economies. Key to this success are India’s ancient legacy of consensus democracy, non-violence, multi-culturality, tolerance, secularism, and the practical simplicity of economic life inspired by Mahatma Gandhi. Also, vital to India’s present economy is the history of the country since the struggle for Independence began in 1857. India has followed a strikingly distinct route of development from other emerging economies such as South Korea, China, Malaysia, Brazil, and Mexico. While these countries concentrated on manufacturing and exports, India grounded its economy on an integrative domestic system of life. This model is marked by interesting and gradual, but constant, growth with an emphasis on services. Reforms in land-agricultural system, political governance, and financial management have led to a landmark stage of economic progress, with India’s GDP rate higher than many emerging market economies. This volume explores the reasons why India has fared better than other emerging market economies, and whether other countries can take inspiration from this model and rebuild their own countries based on their national resources, cultural heritage, and the capacity to interact globally.

Book Synopsis Capturing Divinity by : Aravind Balasubramanya
Download or read book Capturing Divinity written by Aravind Balasubramanya and published by Sri Sathya Sai Sadhana Trust, Publications Division. This book was released on 2015-03-03 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a discourse on 22nd April, 1998, in the hills of Kodaikanal, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba made a revelation about an aspect of God. “The photographer asks you to be ready when he snaps your picture and he gives you time to ready yourself. But, the Divine Cameraman will not give you any notice. You should always be ready to meet the situation. If you engage yourself in bhajan and daivachintanam (thinking of God) – keerthanam and smaranam (singing and remembrance) – you will not be caught unawares.” The Divine Cameraman wants us to appreciate and love His uncertainty. The prerequisite for seeking the Lord who is ever compassionate is to be ever ready and that is something that the author realized as he graduated from Swami’s educational wing into His service wing. One has to be alert always, because things can ‘click’ at any time; there can be a ‘flash’ of inspiration during any hour of the day and though situations appear to have been captured in a ‘negative’ way, they can quickly be ‘developed’ into the ‘positive’ to fill one with beautiful memories. It was an honour, a privilege, and a boon from the highest heavens in fact, that Aravind got the chance to be His cameraman for a few years. However, that did not reverse the roles with respect to readiness. Aravind had to be alert at all times and be ready to “meet the situation” as Swami puts it. He confesses that he has not been alert all the while, but whenever he was alert and sincere, an experience with the Divine unfolded. This book is a collection of such moments – moments that arose at the most unexpected times and in the most beautiful ways to assure him that his Beloved Bhagawan always has him in His sight.

Book Synopsis In Search of Lost Futures by : Magdalena Kazubowski-Houston
Download or read book In Search of Lost Futures written by Magdalena Kazubowski-Houston and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-02-16 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Search of Lost Futures asks how imaginations might be activated through practices of autoethnography, multimodality, and deep interdisciplinarity—each of which has the power to break down methodological silos, cultivate novel research sensibilities, and inspire researchers to question what is known about ethnographic process, representation, reflexivity, audience, and intervention within and beyond the academy. By blurring the boundaries between the past, present, and future; between absence and presence; between the possible and the impossible; and between fantasy and reality, In Search of Lost Futures pushes the boundaries of ethnographic engagement. It reveals how researchers on the cutting edge of the discipline are studying absence and grief and employing street performance, museum exhibit, anticipation, or simulated reality to research and intervene in the possible, the impossible, and the uncertain.

What if someone told you that those age-old lessons on which you’ve based your whole life are ineffective today? What if they also told you that you could live a better, more fulfilling life by following the path of the Asuras? Is it not worth investigating what made the Asuras so successful against even the gods and trying to learn from them in this age of strife, chaos, and discord? In his first nonfiction work, Anand Neelakantan, the national bestselling author of Asura: Tale of the Vanquished, explores a contrarian way of living that makes more sense in this Kali Yuga. With great skill and logic, Anand shatters the myths associated with the so-called six enemies of the mind—anger, passion, greed, infatuation, pride, and competitive spirit. He explains how following conventional advice holds you back from achieving success and happiness in life. Using riveting examples from mythology, he demonstrates how these same six qualities can propel you in the direction of success and help you achieve your goals.

Book Synopsis Science And Environment In Vedic Sanatan Religion by : Vijay Kumar Pandey
Download or read book Science And Environment In Vedic Sanatan Religion written by Vijay Kumar Pandey and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2024-02-15 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rites and customs of the Vedic Sanatan religion are not orthodox—as propagated by some rationalists—but are full of scientific knowledge and wisdom that have helped preserve nature and society until recent times. But both of these are now deteriorating very quickly. The concept of all pervading BRAHMAN in the Vedic Sanatan religion is quite similar to the concept of the Quantum Field of Energy in modern science as both are formless, infinite and omnipresent. There are many similar scientific connotations in the tenets and rites of the religion. Furthermore, if some elements of nature such as wells/rivers and plants/trees are regarded as deities and worshipped, it is not orthodoxy but helps create strong social awareness for the protection of nature through religion. If people worship something, they will not destroy it; it is a simple psyche. No such awareness exists anywhere in the modern scientific world, and the result is severe degradation of water and forest resources these days. Can rationalists understand such underlying philosophies in religious rites and customs? So, this book is a must-read for nature lovers to understand how ancient science in the Vedic Sanatan religion helped protect our environment, which is now falling apart at an alarming rate.

Book Synopsis Swami Vivekananda and his legacy with Gwilym Beckerlegge by : Gwilym Beckerlegge
Download or read book Swami Vivekananda and his legacy with Gwilym Beckerlegge written by Gwilym Beckerlegge and published by Wise Studies. This book was released on 2020-07-23 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this 5 part lecture series Gwilym Beckerlegge discusses the life and legacy of Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902), the Hindu teacher who was arguably the first ‘global guru’. Vivekananda has been influential in shaping, among other things, Hindu notions of social activism, and what has come to be known as Modern Yoga, which is now practised beyond India. Gwilym covers the influence of Vivekananda’s own guru, the widely revered Sri Ramakrishna, Vivekananda’s fascinating journey from India to the United States and Europe at the turn of the 20th century, and the institutions Vivekananda started in Ramakrishna’s name. Vivekananda has been a highly influential but contentious figure in the history of recent Hindu tradition. These lectures will explore aspects of Vivekananda’s legacy with particular reference to the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, the movement Vivekananda founded in his guru’s name, and the Vivekananda Kendra, also inspired by Vivekananda, which came into existence in 1972. The Kendra, however, promotes in Vivekananda’s name an ideology strongly influenced by Hindu nationalism. Through an examination of these two movements, the lecture will illustrate the diffuse and durable nature of Vivekananda’s influence, and in the process explain why Vivekananda has been judged by some to have been a contradictory and controversial figure. Session 1 – Introducing Vivekananda and his guru Ramakrishna Session 2 – Vivekananda in the USA and London Session 3 – Establishing the Ramakrishna Math and Mission in India: Vivekananda and the spiritual discipline of service Session 4 – Continuity, discontinuity, and innovation in Vivekananda’s ideas Session 5 – Vivekananda and his Hindu nationalist admirers hindu philosophy hindu spiritual leaders daily life of a monk meditation practices vivekananda books complete works teacher life and philosophy of swami vivekananda in hindi 4 yogas hindusim life of yogi saint raja yoga
