Book Synopsis Information Hiding: Steganography and Watermarking-Attacks and Countermeasures by : Neil F. Johnson
Download or read book Information Hiding: Steganography and Watermarking-Attacks and Countermeasures written by Neil F. Johnson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information Hiding: Steganography and Watermarking - Attacks and Countermeasures deals with information hiding. With the proliferation of multimedia on the Internet, information hiding addresses two areas of concern: privacy of information from surveillance (steganography) and protection of intellectual property (digital watermarking). Steganography (literally, covered writing) explores methods to hide the existence of hidden messages. These methods include invisible ink, microdot, digital signature, covert channel, and spread spectrum communication. Digital watermarks represent a commercial application of steganography. Watermarks can be used to track the copyright and ownership of electronic media. In this volume, the authors focus on techniques for hiding information in digital media. They analyze the hiding techniques to uncover their limitations. These limitations are employed to devise attacks against hidden information. The goal of these attacks is to expose the existence of a secret message or render a digital watermark unusable. In assessing these attacks, countermeasures are developed to assist in protecting digital watermarking systems. Understanding the limitations of the current methods will lead us to build more robust methods that can survive various manipulation and attacks. The more information that is placed in the public's reach on the Internet, the more owners of such information need to protect themselves from theft and false representation. Systems to analyze techniques for uncovering hidden information and recover seemingly destroyed information will be useful to law enforcement authorities in computer forensics and digital traffic analysis. Information Hiding: Steganography and Watermarking - Attacks and Countermeasures presents the authors' research contributions in three fundamental areas with respect to image-based steganography and watermarking: analysis of data hiding techniques, attacks against hidden information, and countermeasures to attacks against digital watermarks. Information Hiding: Steganography and Watermarking – Attacks and Countermeasures is suitable for a secondary text in a graduate level course, and as a reference for researchers and practitioners in industry.
Book Synopsis Multidisciplinary Approach to Modern Digital Steganography by : Pramanik, Sabyasachi
Download or read book Multidisciplinary Approach to Modern Digital Steganography written by Pramanik, Sabyasachi and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2021-06-04 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Steganography is the art of secret writing. The purpose of steganography is to hide the presence of a message from the intruder by using state-of-the-art methods, algorithms, architectures, models, and methodologies in the domains of cloud, internet of things (IoT), and the Android platform. Though security controls in cloud computing, IoT, and Android platforms are not much different than security controls in an IT environment, they might still present different types of risks to an organization than the classic IT solutions. Therefore, a detailed discussion is needed in case there is a breach in security. It is important to review the security aspects of cloud, IoT, and Android platforms related to steganography to determine how this new technology is being utilized and improved continuously to protect information digitally. The benefits and challenges, along with the current and potential developments for the future, are important keystones in this critical area of security research. Multidisciplinary Approach to Modern Digital Steganography reviews the security aspects of cloud, IoT, and Android platforms related to steganography and addresses emerging security concerns, new algorithms, and case studies in the field. Furthermore, the book presents a new approach to secure data storage on cloud infrastructure and IoT along with including discussions on optimization models and security controls that could be implemented. Other important topics include data transmission, deep learning techniques, machine learning, and both image and text stenography. This book is essential for forensic engineers, forensic analysts, cybersecurity analysts, cyber forensic examiners, security engineers, cybersecurity network analysts, cyber network defense analysts, and digital forensic examiners along with practitioners, researchers, academicians, and students interested in the latest techniques and state-of-the-art methods in digital steganography.

These proceedings contain revised versions of the accepted papers. These revisions have not been checked for correctness, and the authors bear full responsibility for the contents of their papers. The conference program also featured two invited talks. The ?rst one was the 2004 IACR Distinguished Lecture given by Whit?eld Di?e. The second invited talk was by Ivan Damg? ard who presented “Paradigms for Multiparty Computation. ” The traditional rump session with short informal talks on recent results was chaired by Arjen Lenstra. The reviewing process was a challenging task, and many good submissions had to be rejected. Each paper was reviewed independently by at least three members of the program committee, and papers co-authored by a member of the program committee were reviewed by at least six (other) members. The individual reviewing phase was followed by profound and sometimes lively d- cussions about the papers, which contributed a lot to the quality of the ?nal selection. Extensive comments were sent to the authors in most cases.

Book Synopsis Advanced Statistical Steganalysis by : Rainer Böhme
Download or read book Advanced Statistical Steganalysis written by Rainer Böhme and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-08-09 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Steganography is the art and science of hiding information in inconspicuous cover data so that even the existence of a secret message is kept confidential, and steganalysis is the task of detecting secret messages in covers. This research monograph focuses on the role of cover signals, the distinguishing feature that requires us to treat steganography and steganalysis differently from other secrecy techniques. The main theoretical contribution of the book is a proposal to structure approaches to provably secure steganography according to their implied assumptions on the limits of the adversary and on the nature of covers. A further contribution is the emphasis on dealing with heterogeneity in cover distributions, crucial for security analyses. The author's work complements earlier approaches based on information, complexity, probability and signal processing theory, and he presents numerous practical implications. The scientific advances are supported by a survey of the classical steganography literature; a new proposal for a unified terminology and notation that is maintained throughout the book; a critical discussion of the results achieved and their limitations; and an assessment of the possibility of transferring elements of this research's empirical perspective to other domains in information security. The book is suitable for researchers working in cryptography and information security, practitioners in the corporate and national security domains, and graduate students specializing in multimedia security and data hiding.

Book Synopsis Behavioral Cybersecurity by : Wayne Patterson
Download or read book Behavioral Cybersecurity written by Wayne Patterson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-12-07 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the role of human personality in the study of behavioral cybersecurity for non-specialists. Since the introduction and proliferation of the Internet, cybersecurity maintenance issues have grown exponentially. The importance of behavioral cybersecurity has recently been amplified by current events, such as misinformation and cyber-attacks related to election interference in the United States and internationally. More recently, similar issues have occurred in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The book presents profiling approaches, offers case studies of major cybersecurity events and provides analysis of password attacks and defenses. Discussing psychological methods used to assess behavioral cybersecurity, alongside risk management, the book also describes game theory and its applications, explores the role of cryptology and steganography in attack and defense scenarios and brings the reader up to date with current research into motivation and attacker/defender personality traits. Written for practitioners in the field, alongside nonspecialists with little prior knowledge of cybersecurity, computer science, or psychology, the book will be of interest to all who need to protect their computing environment from cyber-attacks. The book also provides source materials for courses in this growing area of behavioral cybersecurity.
