This book was released on 1994 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Peatland resources of northeastern Ontario were investigated as part of the Peatland Inventory Project, conducted from 1982-85. Data from Hearst, Foleyet, Cochrane-Kapuskasing, Timmins-Kirkland Lake, and New Liskeard are presented and integrated to provide a regional overview of the resource. The methods used for the inventory ranged from on-site detailed mapping and sampling to regional satellite-imagery interpretation. Laboratory analyses on the physical and chemical properties of the peat were also undertaken for 698 samples. Of the 1,500 peatlands greater than 100 ha in size that were identified in the region, 128 were surveyed.

Download or read book Laboratory Methods for Testing Peat written by John L. Riley and published by Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines. This book was released on 1989 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This inventory of the peat and peatland resources of Ontario was intended to provide information on possible fuel peat deposits as a means of encouraging increased energy self-sufficiency, as well as information on the resources of horticultural peat in the province. The inventory undertook laboratory analyses of over 1700 peat samples collected during the studies, the analysis of which entailed the development and standardization of required laboratory methods, and the assessment of the precision and accuracy of the reported data. This report details the specific laboratory methods which were used, and evaluates the results of internal and blind quality control tests. It also reports the results of several tests of particular methods, and suggests the precision levels from the use of these techniques.

This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 685 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Summary of International Energy Research and Development Activities 1974–1976 is a directory of energy research and development projects conducted in various countries such as Canada, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, and the United Kingdom between 1974 and 1976. A limited number of projects sponsored by international organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency are also included. This directory consists of nine chapters and opens with a section on organic sources of energy such as coal, oil and gas, peat, hydrocarbons, and non-fossil organic sources. The next sections focus on thermonuclear energy and plasma physics; fission sources and energy production; geophysical energy sources; conversion technology; and environmental aspects of energy conversion and use. Energy transport, transmission, utilization, and conservation are also covered. The final chapter deals with energy systems and other energy-related research on subjects ranging from car sharing and urban passenger transport to nuclear power plants, energy supply and demand models, and high-power molecular lasers. This monograph will be a valuable resource of information for those involved in energy research and development.
