Furthermore, they have been taught that the death of Jesus is the only way individuals can receive eternal salvation. In general, this notion is called the “doctrine of blood atonement” or “penal substitution,” or some similar name. One reason for this teaching is that the development of Newtonian mechanics has led us to believe that God’s “laws of salvation” must be as easy to understand as the seventeenth- and eighteenth-century “laws” of our physical world. This book demonstrates that there are alternatives for understanding Jesus’ execution that are consistent with the twentieth- and twenty-first-century understanding of our physical world. In fact, the early Christian writers (including the Bible itself) described these alternatives. “Sacrifice” was only one form of the early Christian narrative explaining the death of Jesus. Although "blood atonement" was understandable in ancient Roman culture, it is not understandable in our culture. The inevitable conclusion is that we should abandon "blood atonement" and develop one of the alternative ways of understanding the cosmic significance of Jesus’ execution.

In Donne's imaginative universe, the human person lies at the center of the great interconnected web of God's signs and acts. As such, he makes it the touchstone of his own theology. While his anthropology is basically orthodox, the emphasis Donne places on the body and the role it plays in his religious poetics are distinctive. Refusing to restrict God's revelation to the written words of Scripture, Donne turns habitually to the book of the human body as a collection of signs that indicate God's nature, his intent, and the human condition. He also, at times, represents the human body not as a "mere" sign but as sacrament: a seal of the promises of God that conveys his presence and grace. This god gives her a new planet named New Venus, ready to be settled by life. Events start turbulent and get even brutal. The first man, Job, and woman, Jezebel, both die, leaving a young daughter called Eve to be the mother of, yet again, another world. The Lord eventually takes a rib from Eve and creates Aman, hoping to ward off the catastrophe that destroyed Eves first world, Earth. Unfortunately, Liliths past comes back to haunt her and wars, not only with evil empires but also with gods from other realities, spill blood throughout war-torn New Venus. Belcher, son of Eve, is cast from the garden and, being cursed, must struggle to celebrate his life, unknowingly marries the mother of evil, Rubina who gives him many children, most evil, yet two defy all odds and become great saints. Her daughter, Tianshire, saves New Venus from her clutches. Nevertheless, another of Eves sons, Dawedu, in anger takes his wife and many followers from Eden because the Lord appointed his nephew the leader of the Garden when his father passed away. Dawedu, after wrongly killing his first wife, pulls New Venus into the divesting realm of a goddess from another reality, forcing heaven to fight the greatest battle, trying to save our universe.
