Salukis have a tall, narrow head and a deep chest, and they are lean and athletic canines. Their short, smooth coats come in a rainbow of colors, from cream and fawn to red and grizzle and even tricolor. Their tail is carried in a swoop, and their ears hang low and forward. 2. The Saluki is one of the oldest dog breeds in existence, having a background that stretches back thousands of years. They were valued by ancient Egyptian nobility and were said to have originated in the Middle East, where they were used to hunt gazelles and hares. 3. Salukis have a reputation for having a calm and confident demeanor. Although they tend to be shy around strangers, once they get to know you, they can be quite devoted and cuddly. They get along well with kids and other canine companions but may be prey-driven and chase after small animals. 4. Exercise Needs: Salukis are a high-energy breed and require regular exercise to keep healthy and happy. They need a safe, gated place to run around in since they like doing so. They are renowned for their lightning quickness and deft agility. 5. Grooming: Their short coat takes very little attention, however it may be kept in good shape with regular brushing. In general, Salukis don't tend to shed much and have a mild scent. 6. Heart disease, hip dysplasia, and other hereditary disorders affect some Salukis, as they do other dog breeds. Employing a breeder who checks for these diseases is crucial. 7. The average Saluki is between medium and giant in size. The average height of an adult Saluki is 23 to 28 inches (58 to 71 cm) and their average weight is 40 to 65 pounds (18 to 29 kg). Salukis, as a breed, are extraordinary in appearance and history, and they also possess a natural talent for hunting.
