Book Synopsis Notes and Problems in Number Theory (Volume II) by : Taha Sochi
Download or read book Notes and Problems in Number Theory (Volume II) written by Taha Sochi and published by Taha Sochi. This book was released on 2024-05-23 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second volume of my book " Notes and Problems in Number Theory". We focus in this volume on the type of problems that develop the basic and most essential skills which are required for dealing with number theory problems. We introduced some new topics in the first chapter (i.e. Introduction), while the remaining chapters are largely dedicated to solved problems from the main topics of elementary number theory (which are introduced in V1 or in the Introduction chapter of the present volume). We also introduced the subject of cryptography and computing in number theory in the last two chapters. So in brief, the materials in this volume are largely a mix of applications to the materials of V1 and some theoretical background of new topics as well as applications to the new topics. As in my previous books, my topmost priority in the structure and presentation is clarity and graduality so that the readers have the best chance of understanding the content with minimum effort and with maximum enjoyment. The book can be used as a text or as a reference for an introductory course on number theory and may also be used for general reading in mathematics (especially by those who have the hobby of problem solving). The book may also be adopted as a source of pedagogical materials which can supplement, for instance, tutorial sessions (e.g. in undergraduate courses on mathematics or computing or cryptography or related subjects).

The text introduces students to the theory underpinning these skills and is supported by reflective exercises and examples from practice. Importantly, the methodology employed allows students to continue their learning beyond the law school. Each chapter contains a clear statement of learning outcomes and the text is interspersed with questions and exercises designed to encourage and facilitate learning. Chapter summaries, tables, flowcharts, and practical examples are also used extensively throughout. The text places skills in the context of the general ethical and client care principles which govern modern legal practice. This guide is essential reading for all students and a useful reference for practitioners.

Book Synopsis Proceedings of the 7th Ph.D. Retreat of the HPI Research School on Service-oriented Systems Engineering by : Meinel, Christoph
Download or read book Proceedings of the 7th Ph.D. Retreat of the HPI Research School on Service-oriented Systems Engineering written by Meinel, Christoph and published by Universitätsverlag Potsdam. This book was released on 2014-10-09 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design and Implementation of service-oriented architectures imposes a huge number of research questions from the fields of software engineering, system analysis and modeling, adaptability, and application integration. Component orientation and web services are two approaches for design and realization of complex web-based system. Both approaches allow for dynamic application adaptation as well as integration of enterprise application. Commonly used technologies, such as J2EE and .NET, form de facto standards for the realization of complex distributed systems. Evolution of component systems has lead to web services and service-based architectures. This has been manifested in a multitude of industry standards and initiatives such as XML, WSDL UDDI, SOAP, etc. All these achievements lead to a new and promising paradigm in IT systems engineering which proposes to design complex software solutions as collaboration of contractually defined software services. Service-Oriented Systems Engineering represents a symbiosis of best practices in object-orientation, component-based development, distributed computing, and business process management. It provides integration of business and IT concerns. The annual Ph.D. Retreat of the Research School provides each member the opportunity to present his/her current state of their research and to give an outline of a prospective Ph.D. thesis. Due to the interdisciplinary structure of the Research Scholl, this technical report covers a wide range of research topics. These include but are not limited to: Self-Adaptive Service-Oriented Systems, Operating System Support for Service-Oriented Systems, Architecture and Modeling of Service-Oriented Systems, Adaptive Process Management, Services Composition and Workflow Planning, Security Engineering of Service-Based IT Systems, Quantitative Analysis and Optimization of Service-Oriented Systems, Service-Oriented Systems in 3D Computer Graphics sowie Service-Oriented Geoinformatics.

Book Synopsis Elliptic Partial Differential Equations by : Vitaly Volpert
Download or read book Elliptic Partial Differential Equations written by Vitaly Volpert and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-03-03 with total page 649 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of elliptic partial differential equations has undergone an important development over the last two centuries. Together with electrostatics, heat and mass diffusion, hydrodynamics and many other applications, it has become one of the most richly enhanced fields of mathematics. This monograph undertakes a systematic presentation of the theory of general elliptic operators. The author discusses a priori estimates, normal solvability, the Fredholm property, the index of an elliptic operator, operators with a parameter, and nonlinear Fredholm operators. Particular attention is paid to elliptic problems in unbounded domains which have not yet been sufficiently treated in the literature and which require some special approaches. The book also contains an analysis of non-Fredholm operators and discrete operators as well as extensive historical and bibliographical comments . The selected topics and the author's level of discourse will make this book a most useful resource for researchers and graduate students working in the broad field of partial differential equations and applications.

Book Synopsis Lecture Notes on Diophantine Analysis by : Umberto Zannier
Download or read book Lecture Notes on Diophantine Analysis written by Umberto Zannier and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-05-05 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These lecture notes originate from a course delivered at the Scuola Normale in Pisa in 2006. Generally speaking, the prerequisites do not go beyond basic mathematical material and are accessible to many undergraduates. The contents mainly concern diophantine problems on affine curves, in practice describing the integer solutions of equations in two variables. This case historically suggested some major ideas for more general problems. Starting with linear and quadratic equations, the important connections with Diophantine Approximation are presented and Thue's celebrated results are proved in full detail. In later chapters more modern issues on heights of algebraic points are dealt with, and applied to a sharp quantitative treatment of the unit equation. The book also contains several supplements, hinted exercises and an appendix on recent work on heights.
