Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The IAU symposium No. 150 "Astrochemistry of Cosmic Phenomena" was held at the beautiful and scenic town of Campos do Jordao, Sao Paulo, Brazil from August 5 to 9, 1991, and was attended by 111 registered participants with 17 accompanied guests from 19 countries. The symposium had a wide ranging discussion of the chemistry of astronomical environments with an emphasis on the description of molecular processes that critically influence the nature and evolution of astronomical objects and the identification of specific observations that directly address significant astronomical questions. The subject areas of the symposium included atomic and molecular processes at low and high temperatures and photon interactions, the chemical structure of molecular clouds in the Milky Way and in external galaxies, the chemistry of outflows and their interactions with the interstellar medium, the chemical connections between the interstellar medium and the solar system and pregalactic chemistry. The scientific programme comprised of review talks and con tributed papers, with a general introduction by Professor A. Dalgarno and a final overview of the whole symposium by Professor D. A. Williams. Financial supports from the Sao Paulo State Foundation Support (FAPESP), Brazilian National Research Council(CNPq), Finance Company of Studies and Projects (FINEP), Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics of University of Sao Paulo (IAG-USP) and Inter national Astronomical Union (IAU) are greatfully acknowledged. I am greatly indebted to Professor A.
Book Synopsis Frontiers and Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy by : Jaan Laane
Download or read book Frontiers and Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy written by Jaan Laane and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-11-13 with total page 788 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frontiers and Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy once again brings together the most eminent scientists from around the world to describe their work at the cutting-edge of molecular spectroscopy. Much of what we know about atoms, molecules and the nature of matter has been obtained using spectroscopy over the last one hundred years or so. Going far beyond the topics discussed in Jaan Laane's earlier book on the subject, these chapters describe new methodologies and applications, instrumental developments and theory, which are taking spectroscopy into still new frontiers. The robust range of topics once again demonstrates the wide utility of spectroscopic techniques. New topics include ultrafast spectroscopy of the transition state, SERS/far-uv spectroscopy, femtosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy, high-resolution laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and biosensors, vibrational optical activity, ultrafast two-dimensional spectroscopy, biology with x-ray lasers, isomerization dynamics and hydrogen bonding, single molecule imaging, spectra of intermediates, matrix isolation spectroscopy and more. - Covers spectroscopic investigations on the cutting edge of science - Written and edited by leading experts in their respective fields - Allows researchers to access a broad range of essential modern spectroscopy content from a single source rather than wading through hundreds of scattered journal articles

This book was released on 2023-02-09 with total page 1436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comprises a comprehensive reference source that unifies the entire fields of atomic molecular and optical (AMO) physics, assembling the principal ideas, techniques and results of the field. 92 chapters written by about 120 authors present the principal ideas, techniques and results of the field, together with a guide to the primary research literature (carefully edited to ensure a uniform coverage and style, with extensive cross-references). Along with a summary of key ideas, techniques, and results, many chapters offer diagrams of apparatus, graphs, and tables of data. From atomic spectroscopy to applications in comets, one finds contributions from over 100 authors, all leaders in their respective disciplines. Substantially updated and expanded since the original 1996 edition, it now contains several entirely new chapters covering current areas of great research interest that barely existed in 1996, such as Bose-Einstein condensation, quantum information, and cosmological variations of the fundamental constants. A fully-searchable CD- ROM version of the contents accompanies the handbook.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by an author internationally renowned in the field of molecular spectroscopy, this book provides an up-to-date account of the new experimental and theoretical methods on the high resolution infrared spectroscopy of small molecules. The approach uses a visual approach to spectral analysis, containing large numbers of energy level diagrams and spectra specra to show the progress in identification and line assignment. Covering new and important techniques on laser and Fourier Transform, it also contains both theoretical and experimental chapters. Divided into 3 parts, features covered in the first part include: * Calculations of the vibration-rotation energy levels of rigid and non-rigid molecules * Calculations of the intensities of vibration-rotation transitions * Introduction to linear and non-linear molecular spectroscopy * Use of interferometric and laser spectrometers for measuring infrared spectra The second part presents a detailed treatment of the analysis of the high resolution vibration-rotation spectra of linear, quasilinear, symmetric rotor and asymmetric rotor molecules. In the final part of the book the following topics of current interest are examined in depth: * Electric and magnetic resonance spectroscopy * Spectroscopy of transient species, free radicals and ions, and Van der Waals clusters * Atmospheric and astrophysical spectroscopy, including the spectroscopy of the atmosphere of the Earth and nearby planets, cool stars and molecules in the interstellar medium This comprehensive book is an essential reference for researchers who want to be at the cutting edge in the field of spectroscopy and physical chemistry, atmospheric science and infrared astonomy.

Book Synopsis Laboratory Astrophysics by : Guillermo M. Muñoz Caro
Download or read book Laboratory Astrophysics written by Guillermo M. Muñoz Caro and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-10-11 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the most recent, relevant, comprehensive and significant aspects in the well-established multidisciplinary field Laboratory Astrophysics. It focuses on astrophysical environments, which include asteroids, comets, the interstellar medium, and circumstellar and circumplanetary regions. Its scope lies between physics and chemistry, since it explores physical properties of the gas, ice, and dust present in those systems, as well as chemical reactions occurring in the gas phase, the bare dust surface, or in the ice bulk and its surface. Each chapter provides the necessary mathematical background to understand the subject, followed by a case study of the corresponding system. The book provides adequate material to help interpret the observations, or the computer models of astrophysical environments. It introduces and describes the use of spectroscopic tools for laboratory astrophysics. This book is mainly addressed to PhD graduates working in this field or observers and modelers searching for information on ice and dust processes.
