After a soul-shattering moment that sends Cass reeling, she'll attempt to answer this question the only way she knows how: learning everything she possibly can about her favorite hero-Batgirl. Sarah Kuhn, author of Heroine Complex and I Love You So Mochi, takes on one of her favorite heroes for a new audience of readers. Featuring the edgy art style of Nicole Goux, Shadow of the Batgirl tells the harrowing story of a girl who overcomes the odds to find her unique identity.

This book was released on 2019-01-18 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the differences between extrinsic and intrinsic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The former is driven by an assumed positive relationship between CSR activities and financial performance, while the latter stems from a moral duty. These differences can be both banal and profound, because they often depend on definitions and because the scope, purpose, and legitimacy of intrinsic CSR is vague, under-researched, and subject to context. The book discusses the two manifestations of CSR through both applied and conceptual approaches, considering questions such as: Are there any differences? If so, in which areas, aspects, consequences? How do they relate to each other? Which one is better and how could this be identified? In finding answers to the above, the book reflects on the impact the difference has on CSR stakeholders. Furthermore, a closer look at Swiss Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and their culture of democratic decisions, hand-shake quality, prudence, embeddedness in their respective communities, and their willingness to “give something back to society” allows the limitation, impetus, and the legitimacy of intrinsic CSR to be identified.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dick Grayson--alter-ego of the original Robin of Batman comics--has gone through various changes in his 75 years as a superhero but has remained the optimistic, humorous character readers first embraced in 1940. Predating Green Lantern and Wonder Woman, he is one of DC Comics' oldest heroes and retains a large and loyal fanbase. The first scholarly work to focus exclusively on the Boy Wonder, this collection of new essays features critical analysis, as well as interviews with some of the biggest names to study Dick Grayson, including Chuck Dixon, Devin Grayson and Marv Wolfman. The contributors discuss his vital place in the Batman saga, his growth and development into an independent hero, Nightwing, and the many storyline connections which put him at the center of the DC Universe. His character is explored in the contexts of feminism, trauma, friendship, and masculinity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Call centers have come, in the last three decades, to define the interaction between corporations, governments, and other institutions and their respective customers, citizens, and members. The offshoring and outsourcing of call center employment, part of the larger information technology and information-technology-enabled services sectors, continues to be a growing practice amongst governments and corporations in their attempts at controlling costs and providing new services. While incredible advances in technology have permitted the use of distant and "offshore" labor forces, the grander reshaping of an international political economy of communications has allowed for the acceleration of these processes. New and established labor unions have responded to these changes in the global regimes of work by seeking to organize call center workers. These efforts have been assisted by a range of forces, not least of which is the condition of work itself, but also attempts by global union federations to build a bridge between international unionism and local organizing campaigns in the Global South and Global North. Through an examination of trade union interventions in the call center industries located in Canada and India, this book contributes to research on post-industrial employment by using political economy as a juncture between development studies, the sociology of work, and labor studies.
