Book excerpt: The story of Lela McGuire's teenage years in Idaho during the 1890's continues in Rusty. In the first book, Cart-Wheels, Lela moves with her family from their comfortable, established ranch in Oregon to the raw frontier of Idaho's high Camas Prairie. Having left behind not only her home but also her first sweetheart, she has to adapt to her new life in the town of Cottonwood, where she finishes the highest class in the local school. In Rusty, Lela gets to further her education. Her uncle, recently elected sheriff, has moved to the county seat and has invited her to stay with his family there, so that she can attend high school. Her memorable year in the sheriff's household brings lots of hard studying, punctuated by sometimes violent incidents of law and order. When it is over, she returns to Cottonwood and meets handsome young "Rusty," just back from the Spanish-American War . . . Lela's true story, originally written in her own words in the early 1970's, is the basis for both books. Collaborating with her at that time, her daughter did much to shape the memories into fiction for young readers. The books in their present form are the result of editing and re-working by Lela's granddaughter, Susan Quainton

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PERFECT UNDERSTANDING “There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, numbed by the false notion that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” Isaac Asimov, the villain in this novel is ignorance, the hero is understanding. A frontier is defined as “an unsettled region, an extreme part of a country” statistically a frontier is an area having no fewer than two inhabitants per square mile. It took a lot more than just farming to settle a land, there was also a necessity for a social evolution. The advantages of a new start in life, free land, freedom to follow a dream without fear of interruption etc. also had its disadvantages, no churches, no schools, no libraries, even local governments had to be formed. This story takes place on the Ohio frontier in the last of the eighteenth and midway through the nineteenth centuries. The main characters are an eighteen-year old lad that is intelligent enough to know he needs more intelligence and an elderly gentleman, with a great degree of intelligence that has no outlet for it. A partnership is formed and frustrations are laid aside as the two men declare a war on ignorance. It’s a joy to see a young man grow in intelligence and an older man achieve his lifetime imaginings. Both men come to the same conclusion, that understanding is the salvation of the world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is generally assumed that evolution originated with Charles Darwin, the one-time-divinity-student-turned-naturalist atheist. That this assumption is false will shock and surprise many. Considered to be a classic work, The Long War Against God by the late Dr. Henry Morris, long an opponent of Christian Compromise with evolution, presents in riveting detail the very old plan to undermine God's Word. Drawing from the text of the Greeks, Babylonians, and other ancient philosophers, Dr. Morris shows the path that has led to today's neo-Darwinists, and how evolution - the philosophy of death - is in itself dying. Millions of Christians have seen their faith diminished and left fragile by aggressive arguments for evolution, but few know the true story of a belief system that seeks to ultimately eliminate God. Dr. Morris reveals within these pages this compelling story, and reiterates the power of scriptural truth. • Discover why God couldn't have used the inefficient, cruel method of evolution to create • Learn how the Sermon on the Mount illustrates how God has nothing to do with "survival of the fittest." • Has science proven evolution? Where are all the transitional fossils? What about "vestigial" organs? Learn the answers to these questions and more.
